The Qaedon Wars - The Story Begins

New Version 0.083

Hi All.

Just to let you know we found a couple of problems in a new feature in 0.083 over the weekend, so have had to delay a couple of days. We hope to release today or tomorrow but will keep you informed if there are any further problems.

All the Best.

Bug Report

Hi Folks.

Happy New Year to everyone, hope 2019 is a good one for you.

Just to let you know that we have solved a bug report that can occur if you are defeated in Scenario 1. Under certain circumstances, one of your units can be duplicated if you restart the scenario. This unit will not be visible when replaying the scenario but will cause a problem if you win and enter Army Management before starting Scenario 2.

We have a fix for this issue and we will roll it out as part of Version 0.083 which we are hoping to implement over the weekend.

As a workaround, if you lose Scenario 1, exit to the Main Menu and start a New Campaign to play it again (as an alternative workaround.....don't get defeated in Scenario 1 !!)

All the Best.

Version 0.082 Update

Major update to add new scenario, units and spells.

  • Added Scenario 4: Assault on Kal Marth. We recommend playing this one with Battlefield Opacity set to 70 as the map is a bit 'busy'. Set by going to Options > Interface.
  • Added 7 new foes who can appear in Scenario 4.
  • Added 6 new Planar spells which are used by Riftmages (should give a big hint as to at least one on the new foes!)

Game balance changes:

  • Increased Base Cost of Archer units.
  • Increased upgrade costs of Melee/Ranged Attack/Defense Strength.
  • Changed default Refund for Items sold in Army Management to 25%.

Game fixes:

  • Fixed an issue on the Campaign Map where you could replay a battle already won.

To access Scenario 4, please load your Sesk Victory (date/time) saved game and proceed to the Campaign Map.

If anybody has a problem loading the new scenario, please let us know.

All the Best for the Season.

Design Update: Story Mode

Hi All.

We're excited to announce that we are currently designing a new gaming feature Story Mode.

At present when you fight a battle there are 'threads' that define the objectives you have to achieve in that battle. The choice of thread is randomized so that you could get a different thread each time you play the battle (although due to the nature of randomization, you can easily get the same thread!) Whichever thread you end up getting, the enemies you face are also randomized so even if you play the same battle/thread in a different campaign, the enemies you face will not be quite the same.

With Story Mode you will be able to choose which thread you wish to play for a battle which will increase replayability. So for example you could play a campaign and choose Thread A in each battle and then play another campaign and choose Thread B knowing that you will get completely different objectives.

You could also play Thread A in a battle and then play Thread B and decide which one you want to use to progress to the next battle.

At present all battles have 2 threads but the engine is designed to support up to 27 threads per battle. We hope to add more threads if time permits in Early Access, otherwise we will add threads as part of regular updates after Final Release.

We hope to introduce Story Mode early in the new year. We will keep you posted on progress.

Cheers!

Version 0.080 Update

Hi Everyone.

We have implemented Version 0.080, the main highlight being that Scenario 3 (Sesk) is now available. If you have completed Scenario 2 (A Dangerous Journey), load your Victory A Dangerous Journey (date/time) saved game and when you click OK on the dialog the new battle should be available on the Campaign Map.

Other details for this update:

  • Added new spell Guiding Bolt (Divine Level1).
  • Added new items Hunter's Helm, Chainmail Gloves, Peasant's Belt and Homespun Trousers.
  • Added new units Sesk Hunter, Sesk Shaman, Sesk Tracker, Sesk Thief, Goghat Engineer, Ulmug Missileman, Marsh Troll, Giant Sentry Ant, Rat Clan Abomination and Bolt Tower.
  • Tweaked the Experience calculation algorithms so that units will level up approximately 10% faster.
  • Altered the Item Bonus for a battle to make the items a bit more desirable.
  • Fixed a paging issue with the Game Manual.
  • Improved performance of Fog of War processing as moving units would sometimes 'slow down' as they were moving due to heavy processing.

The Goghat Engineer (who is good against Constructs by the way) is also available as a playable Hero.

Please let us know if you have any problems picking up the new scenario as this is our first implementation of a new battle.

All the Best!

The Map, Selecting and Moving Units

Hey Everyone.

Just a quick post to explain moving the map and your units around the battlefield.

You can move the battlefield map in a number of ways. The map can be zoomed with the UI buttons (bottom left of screen) and by using the Keyboard (by default the Page Up and Page Down keys) or you can use the Mouse Wheel.

To pan the map you can either Right Click and Drag the map with the Mouse or use the Keyboard (by default the W, A, S, D keys).

To select a unit you can do any of the following:

Left Click the unit.

Click the Unit Menu button to display the Unit Menu and use the buttons there to select :

  • Previous Unit that still has Actions/Moves remaining (or keyboard V).
  • Previous Unit (or keyboard B).
  • Next Unit (or keyboard N).
  • Next Unit that still has Actions/Moves remaining (or keyboard M).

When you select a unit it will be highlighted in green and all tiles that the unit can move to will also be highlighted as shown below (here we have selected the Mage):

(Click to download)

To move the unit Left Click on any of the highlighted tiles.

To unselect the unit, click an empty tile or click another unit to select that instead.
