Voidentines Day - Update #81

It's the 6th annual Voidentines Day Valentines Day special! The 6th anniversary of this game! (This post is a little late, but you know what I mean)

This is a bit of a weird update with the main part being 3 new events including one of a brand new type! Two of these events bring over the Blessings and Burdens from The Towers into story mode. This was a lot more work than expected as now these kinds of gifts would have to interact with all the trading events, token shops, and several other edge cases.

This update also introduces a new event type which is going to be my answer to all the "common" monsters that got left out in version 7. The main issue is this new event type took a lot of setup, so I was only able to get a single one done, and it's for Split Veyeral who is very low level monster. Most late game players will hardly ever run into it. This means it'll be a little hard to see where I'm going with this event type right now. That's why I'm going to focus on making a few more for next time. I also made a few preemptive balance adjustments to gifts found in The Garden's Blessing and True Panic. The main difference being that Power Gifts are less common there, but Blessing Gifts can now appear in their place.

Updates and tweaks



  • There are now a few places where Blessing gifts can be received in story mode, but you must win one battle in The Towers first
  • Adjusted the rewards from The Garden's Blessing and True Panic stages. The chance of getting power gifts has been reduced, but these stages can now give out Blessing gifts
  • All trading events where you can give away gifts have new interactions with blessings and burdens
  • Adjusted the rewards for several dreams especially in quickplay
  • Ambient rain sound now plays in all scenes and events that have rain in the background
  • In Prisma's Duplicator event, Spark Tonic will now only grant 2 power instead of 5
  • In the extremely unlikely case that Sentinel asks you about a monster's quote from before battle, and that run also happened to be your first time ever loving said monster, the correct answer will be "Fear the unknown" instead of their regular quote, as that is what you would have seen
  • A copy of all backup save files is now also saved in the folder that uploads to steam cloud

Bug Fixes



  • The burn scars burden effect could apply past the limit of 7 hp if you also healed at the end of a battle
  • In Quickplay, returning from a battle would always put you in the "All Monsters" category

v8.4b

A few of the changes to the newest battle in 8.4a made the perfect optimal score a little lower. So a few people got scores in 8.4 that became unachievable. Rather than resetting everyone's scores on that battle, I increased the scoring just a tiny bit so those scores become possible again.

I also threw in a few new achievements that I didn't get to finish in v8.4. If you already completed the conditions for them, you will automatically unlock them by inspecting any gift card in the collection menu.

Cardiac Event Recorder - Update #80

It's my birthday, so I'm giving you a Dandy new present! It's a new boss battle! Probably one of the most chaotic ones so far. I may have to adjust some of it, but I really wanted to put this mess together in 1 week and see how it goes. Let's just say she has a lot to "talk" about.

Now 3 of the 7 battles in the new set are done! I'm still focused on this set of battles for now, but another thing that I need to do is implement an easier way to handle people adding custom translations without updates messing them up. I'm hoping to work a little on that over the next few updates. The Next update will be on the game's 6th anniversary on February 14th!

Cardiac Event Recorder - Update #79

Finally, triple digit bosses! There are now 101 lovely monsters to find! The 2 new ones are a little harder to find than a common monster, but you can always check the collection to read a hint. Discovering these new monsters will also extend 3 of the towers by 1 extra battle.

I fixed an incredible bug that has been in the game since the beginning. Pausing 92 times would make the game think the boss was already defeated in relation to a few specific functions. Luckily, one of those was the fact that you can not pause anymore after a boss is "defeated." This had the potential to really destroy the game if you were allowed to pause just a few more times! But It's fixed now.

I was also finally able to adjust all the regional prices for every region that got a huge price increase by mistake. The new prices were set based on a lot of feedback from the community. We'll definitely be more careful with this in the future! The price will not be increased again until the game leaves early access. When the time comes it will be announced far in advance.

  • Pausing more than 10 times in a single battle will now set a tiny delay between pauses for the rest of the battle
  • Added support for rebinding controls to various non-letter keys that were unavailable before
  • Helper shot speed now has minimum and maximum caps like other shot types

  • The hud marker for combo challenges would stay visible at the end of the boss bar after the goal became impossible to pass

v8.2a - December 26th, 2023
-Removed the +15% helper damage buff from Syncron's blessing and instead increased duration from 4 to 6 battles (The reason is this extra effect did not fit on the card details page)
-Added memory text to all Special Blessings and Burdens
-The panic icon on the hud will be crossed out if panics are disabled by a burden effect
-Bug Fix: In Sentinel's Quiz, selecting an answer on the first possible frame would soft lock the game
-Bug Fix: Burdens that disable all basic shot types could appear while charged shots are disabled by another burden

Update #78 Winter Sale?

So why isn't this game on sale this time? Well, the 30 day cooldown described in the previous update ran out one day after this sale started. It seems like it might not be possible to join this sale part way through. We are going to wait until tomorrow, but if it doesn't work by then, we will be setting our own sale to start on the 24th at 10 AM PST! If steam still doesn't let us do that, I'm simply going to explode.

To avoid an excessive amount of post, I'll usually skip a small patch post if it comes only a few hours after the previous one. Shoutout to the few hours between 8.1b and 8.1c where I accidentally made every single battle give you a bounty!
