Sorry for posting no updates for some time but we were quite busy recently ;-) ːUghlarː



Improvements



  • The brand new home-level / start menu is nearly done - we are currently polishing some things and plan to release it next week!
  • Add new French translation thx to Twistchess.
  • Add rocks as decals and decorate all levels accordingly.
  • Implement building-restriction for decals if set.
  • Add a flag to decals allowing dev to set if it is affected by hero-ghosting or not.
  • Add a 'Mult' field to the spawningJob action as a factor for the power and life of an enemy to speed up portal-level development and balancing.
  • Add a channelModulationColor to decals. Modify with RGBA and SHIFT+RGBA in edit mode.
  • Rework Shield-Effect in respect to the particle-engine.
  • Change the font of the hint-popup displayed in the main-menu.
  • Disable all MP gaming modes when player is disconnected from Steam.
  • Change font-type in keyboard-binding menu to tidy up things a bit.
  • Display the capibilities of the selected translation in the game-menu.
  • Add first 10 language-keys of Spanish.
  • Change Steam.Leaderboard.Leaderboard.Entries to ConcurrentQueue to adapt for multithreading.
  • Improve WindGenerator to sport rain and snow in a natural manner (no quick successions, etc…).




Bug fixes



  • Decals are not ghosting appropriately.
  • Decals are not sized appropriately when loaded from file.
  • There is a file-lock error if you buy many upgrades from different buildings in short succession.
  • In MP game - When completing a map 7, we did not get new towers, so we had to play single player first to get new towers. The upgrade-update was disabled for MP games.
  • In MP game - its possible to build with host`s builder if you press F1 because you're able to select it this way.
  • If not spending any uppgrade-cash, it will double! (Tripple at hard) Good bug ;). Introduced a Loss-Cap at 1000 points.
  • The first wave in level one has a shield because the enemies got mixed up.
  • Points grow exponentially when playing some time.
  • There is a buffer-overflow in the networking-library with more than 3 players.
  • After a MP level advancing to the next level crashes the game. Now you have to return to the home-level.
  • Since MP changes the overall experience-points don't show up any longer during gameplay. Was an initialization-error.
  • The overall XPs won't update when buying a building or upgrade.

Bug fixes




  • If I leave the cutscene entered from the home-screen, the main-menu music starts on the home-screen.
  • If I leave the wall-of-fame entered from the home-screen, the main-menu music starts on the home-screen.
  • Wall of fame building doesn't trigger the wall of fame any more in home-screen. Was a problem with the building index zero.
  • When starting a MP game the engine starts a single-player game instead. Was a problem with value propagation through the difficulty-selection-screen.
  • Collision-position of encyclopedia building is off.
  • Spawner sound is WAY too loud. Tone it down a bit. Toned down that acknowledge sound as well while I was at it.
  • Volume set in the SoundDescriptor didn't get set. Major bug in SoundEngine.


Improvements




  • Refactor messagebox-screens.
  • Hero starts at wrong position in home-level.
  • Make messagebox-menu for research.
  • Building for Encyclopedia is missing.
  • Redesign the map of the home-level.
  • Make all buildings walk-able in the home-level.

Bug fixes



  • Victory and game-over music are not played after the refactoring of the sound-cues. Was an error in the limit-queue-setup.
  • The transparency of the buildings when a hero is behind them is off.
  • All messagebox-menus are missing a heading.
  • When exiting a messagebox-screen in the home-level using the right mouse-button, the right-click is handled on the home-level after the messagebox closed.
  • The transparencies of the TextureDisplays used in most menu-screens for background-rectangles for example, let the image underneath 'bleed trough'. The scrollbar behaves the same way. The problem was that the main BlendState has been NonPremultiplied. Those transparencies get summed up and so all the drawn images shine through. Changed most BlendStates to Alphablend.
  • Some colors are off now in the messagebox-screens due to the changes. Correct them.


Improvements



  • Add a line about power-towers and their connection-capabilities in the level-upgrade-text on the upgrade-screen.
  • If I right-click a building/tower, I want to do other things than go to the clicked position (maybe repair the tower, etc…).
  • Further preparations for level 26-50 including circular tower defense.

Throbax TD update in calendar week 15 - HELP US DECIDE!

Dear Throbax TD community!

This week Psilo, Wyzau and I had a longer discussion about the future of our beloved game. The question is:

SHOULD THE FOCUS OF LEVEL 26-50 BE ON OUR HERO UGHLAR OR ON THE TOWERS?

What do you think? Would you prefer to see more of the spells Ughlar can use or should we add additonal tower-upgrades to the game?

And before you answer "Both!" please rest assured that we also thought about this option but the balancing on the level requires a choice either in favor of Ughlar or the towers.

  • Every time the hero 'vanishes' behind a building/tower, it's pretty hard to find. Make buildings/towers obscuring the view on the hero semi-transparent.

Bug fixes




  • Pixel-collision testing is broken for rotated or scaled sprites.
  • Buildings that are too big get clipped when they are not shown being off the screen (camera) whereas they really aren't, because they should protrude into the image even when based on an off-screen tile.
  • Check that, when a player gets deleted because of a severed connection, the towers from this player and the hero of this player are deleted on ALL clients. Not only on the server.
  • When coming from STEAM overlay the TextBox displays many question marks. The reason for this is that the STEAM overlay disrupts the game and the InputStateManager hangs on his last input which is SHIFT+TAB which is an illegal character in the control, which leads the control to print a quotation mark.


Improvements




  • We are currently working on a new menu - stay tuned for more ;-)
  • Minor fix to trading cards.
  • Make the microwave wave more visible by using a different color, opacity and maybe other effects as well. Done that and added an additional wave for each level of the tower.
