Thumper

Update: Quick Restart, Audio Fixes, and more

Live now:

  • Quick Restart. Press L1/LB on a controller (or "r" with keyboard controls) to bring up the Restart From Checkpoint screen immediately.
  • Updated audio system to address audio crackling when device output is set higher than 16-bit/48KHz. We believe this issue should be fixed, but we'll be monitoring feedback if anyone still experiences it.
  • Pressing Alt + F4 now exits the game
  • Reduced menu selection/transition time.
  • Updated Sony DualShock 4 native support. This may address some of the latency issues, but we're still researching the issue.
  • Fixed bug where controller vibration could get stuck on when rapidly toggling vibration setting

We're still working on several more pressing issues. Again, we thank everyone in our community for their feedback and patience as we work through the rest of our post-launch issues.

Thumper Soundtrack now Includes FLAC Format

In addition to high-quality MP3s, now the Thumper soundtrack includes FLAC format files as well.

http://store.steampowered.com/app/541800/

And if you bundle up the game + soundtrack, it's 10% off: http://store.steampowered.com/bundle/1719/

If you already own the soundtrack, the FLACs will download as a Steam update.

Hotfix: Improved Keyboard Support, Max Volume Setting

A small update to address some requests:

  • WASD can be used in addition to arrow keys
  • Keyboard icons are in the helpbar on every screen
  • Max Volume setting increased to 500% (please don't abuse this power!)

More critical bug fixes are on the way.

Hotfix for Resolution and Volume Settings + Support Page

We've released a quick hotfix to help with some of the issues reported so far.

CHANGES

  • Video options allow you to select every resolution your primary display supports (NOTE: you must select APPLY for the settings to take effect)
  • Volume settings in the Audio options let you increase master volume to 200% (previous limit was 120%)

Also, we've started a support site with solutions to common issues: http://thumpergame.com/support

We'll be monitoring the Community Hub forums for any new issues and we'll follow up with all the open ones. And please feel free to reach out by email to drool AT drool.ws

Our sincere thanks to everyone playing the game already! And thanks for your patience as we sort out tech issues over the next few days.

Thumper Available Today at 3PM PST + PC VR Support Coming Soon

Thumper is launching later today at 3PM PST on Steam! We wanted to surprise and reward gamers who have been waiting years for the game to come out with the chance to play a bit sooner!

Thumper won’t support HTC Vive or Oculus Rift at launch, but support will be added before the end of the year via a free Steam update.

We’ve spent years creating Thumper and releasing the game simultaneously on PS4, PSVR, and Windows PC has been the hardest and most satisfying work we’ve ever done. We’re a two person team and we take a handcrafted approach to making games. We hope Thumper reflects that. Supporting multiple platforms -- especially brand new ones like VR -- is a challenging and painstaking process to get it right. We’ve always wanted to launch the game with support for all major VR platforms, but we just didn’t have the bandwidth until recently.

The good news is we’ve already started PC VR development and it will be available before 2017. As soon as we’re certain, we’ll announce a release date and more details.

We’ve always wanted Thumper to be an intense, overwhelming experience -- not a “VR game” specifically. We think Thumper is amazing in VR, but the “best way to play” is really a matter of personal preference. So for now, PC gamers can play the entire game in glorious traditional HD. And rest assured we are hard at work on VR support!

Thumper Collector's Edition!

Back in 2009, we teamed up to make Thumper, our rhythm violence game. Today, we're excited to finally announce Thumper will debut in October!

We’ve always wanted to release Thumper in style. Audio is a critical part of the game and a high-quality soundtrack is essential! So we couldn’t be more psyched to team up with the fine folks from iam8bit on our limited collector's edition.

It includes a game code (Steam or PS4) and a premium vinyl soundtrack with cover artwork designed by Robert Beatty. Robert’s music and art were a key inspiration for Thumper and we can’t wait to hold this beautifully designed package in our hands!

Pre-orders will open in the iam8bit store soon on June 30th at 9AM PST.

It's crunch time and we're focused on making Thumper the best game we possibly can. Your interest and support means a lot, so thank you! We have more to reveal before Thumper launches in October, so stay tuned!
