Tiger Knight: Empire War
Developers’ Note 3.17 (preparing for Ladder Tournament)
This week there will be no new update, not because we’re lazy, but because we’re busy preparing some larger updates! Coming soon, we will open up a new game mode: Ladder Tournament. What exactly does Ladder Tournament involve? Let’s take a closer look:
Two Main Modes of Ladder Tournament
Ladder Tournament is the highest level of competition in Tiger Knight, as it fully demonstrates player’s military tactics and martial arts prowess. A new tournament begins every 3 months, and will be open daily for a set time. Due to the fierce competition, generals will be required to have reached at least level 20 to take part. The tournament is divided into Command Mode and Duel Mode divisions with points calculated separately for each, allowing players to choose their preferred mode to participate in.
Ladder - Command Mode
Ladder Tournament has its own unique level system, consisting of bronze, silver, gold, platinum and diamond. All players will start from the bronze level. In the Command Mode division, the competition deploys traditional Conquest Mode and 5v5 battles.
Ladder - Duel Mode
In the Duel Mode division, many players will be match made at the same time into one-on-one battles. Non-participants can spectate and predict the champion and winners with tokens provided by the system. If their predictions come true, they can receive coppers as a reward! Duel Mode takes place in the Colosseum, which is divided into different areas to signify the Roman provinces. The final will take place on the Summit of Glory to produce the champion.
In order to keep things fair, the Ladder Tournament allows only single players, and the team-up function is temporarily closed. We look forward to sharing this new game mode with you, and we’re eager to hear about your experiences and gameplay in the tournament!

Developers’ Note 3.10 (New High Level Troops Unlocked)
Even though Tiger Knight was only released on Steam four short months ago, many of our players have already managed to unlock the highest tiers of the units currently available. As such, we are pleased announce that we will be opening up two more tiers for the Advanced Battlefield (tiers 9 & 10) following our weekly maintenance this coming Friday. But what will be the characteristics of these new units? Let’s take a quick look:
Roman High Level Troops
Late Empire Legionarius
These legions are armed with spears and they perform best in mid-range battles and close combat. In addition, theirstrong mobility increases troop flexibility.
Evocati Augusti
These guards areat the top of the Roman infantry line and they have superb long-range and short-range defense. However, their lack of mobility and narrow close combat range can lead to trouble defeating enemies on the battlefield.
Wei High Level Troops
Wei Central Guards
These troops are armed with heavy weaponry and their main characteristicsarecavalry resistance, heavy armor, high health, strong close combat ability and poor mobility.
Wei Leopard Knights, Wei Royal Elite Knights
These two types of troops have the same characteristics and battlefield roles. They both have high mobility, strong long-range defense and light infantry and bow/crossbowmen resistance.
Wei Royal Cavalry Archers
These guards are at the top of the Wei infantry line and they are part of the mid-range cavalry. They are responsible for annoying the enemy because they are adept at shooting and they have high mobility, but their armor is poor.
Shu High Level Troops
Shu Royal Strike Troop, White Feather Warriors
These two types of troops are both armed with heavy weaponry and they have good short-range and long-range defense and enough power to destroy enemy defenses. However, their short attack range can make life difficult during battle.
Shu Royal Crossbow Cavalry
These mid-range crossbowmen have extremely high mobility, good collision ability and they are adept at annoying enemy troops. However, their poor armor makes them vulnerable when under attack.
Shu Royal Vanguard
These crossbowmen are at the top of the Shu infantry line and they have good mid-range output, long-range defense and extremely high damage. Their low mobility and slow shooting speed are their weaknesses.
Wu High Level Troops
Wu Royal Elite Infantry
These troops are assault infantry, mainly used in close combat and their battle characteristicsare high close combat damage, good mobility and strong ambush ability.
Jiefan Infantry
Driving infantry will become one of the most popular troops in Tiger Knight, as they have good long-range defense, heavy close combat damage and they provide battle support.
Hengjiang Shooters
Hengjiang bowmen have inherited the Wu traditions and they have superb long-range output, good shooting speed and wide shooting range. In addition, they can also be placed on horseback and reduce toxic smog speed.
Royal Archer
These troops are at the top of the Wu infantry line and they have close combat skills comparable to Hengjiang bowmen.
Now that you have had a brief introduction to the new tiers that will soon be available, we look forward to seeing how you use them to approach the battlefield in new and devastating ways!

Complimentary “Disguise Card” for English / Mandarin Speech Options
Some of our more attentive players recently overheard unusual dialects being spoken on the battlefield. It seems that many generals have now adopted English as their language of choice!
One of the smaller features added during our large Rome update was the option to choose an English or Mandarin speaking general when creating your character for the first time.
However, as this is only available during character creation it meant that existing players did not have access to the optional English speech.
To make sure everyone has access to this choice, we will be sending a “Disguise Card” to all players who created their character before the Rome update launched. This will allow those players to re-design their character’s appearance, while also having access to the English/Mandarin speech choice (English options are voices 5 & 6). The “Disguise Card” will be delivered to your in-game mail tomorrow, March 8th.
Developers’ Note 3.2
The Research, Design and Production of Rome
Our new Rome content has been released for some time now, and we have carefully read through and recorded all of your feedback and suggestions in order to help us develop improvements. Information on Roman history and archaeology is both plentiful and detailed, and while this made it more convenient to recreate the history for the game, it also increased the difficulty of design and production. In order to reproduce an accurate and vivid Roman army, our research needed to be as rigorous as possible. The results of our work are now available to all in the Rome update.
History of the Roman Empire
Looking back at the beginning of the project, we were determined to create a realistic ancient war online game. The game background doesn’t stop at China in the Han Dynasty, it also includes the entire civilized world of the same period. Over one thousand years, from the eighteenth century BC to the fifth century AD, ancient Rome developed from a small state on the Apennine Peninsula into a vast empire across Europe and Asia. What would happen if the mighty Roman Empire and the Chinese Han Dynasty were to clash? This is Tiger Knight: Empire War!
Roman Troop Equipment Intro
We’ve already introduced Roman troop lines and standard-bearers, now we are going to introduce Roman troop equipment. During Roman times, there were numerous styles of armor, largely made of metal, with steel being the most popular. The most common 4 types of armor are as follows:
1. Lorica Segmentata: Plate Armor
(Chesters Roman Fort Museum collection exhibit, image sourced from the internet)
Plate Armor is a distinctive piece of Roman protective clothing that was commonly worn by Roman heavy infantry legions.
2. Lorica Hamata: Chain Mail Armor
(Roman Museum of Astorga collection exhibit, image sourced from the internet)
Chain Mail Armor is a traditional piece of Roman protective clothing that is still used today. During the Roman Empire, it was worn by the mostly Roman heavy infantry legions. However, after the fall of the Roman Empire, it became more synonymous with cavalry troops and various auxiliary troops.
3. Lorica Squamata: Scale Armor
(Royal Ontario Museum collection exhibit, image sourced from the internet)
Scale Amor is a piece of Roman protective clothing composed of squamous nail plates, with many of these nail plates laced leather or cloth to make it easier to wear. In terms of armor, scale armor is effective, relatively cheap and easy to make.
4. Lorica Musculata: Muscle Cuirass
(A first-century Roman guard troops’ relief muscle cuirass, image sourced from the internet)
Muscle Cuirass is an ancient piece of protective clothing first used by the Greek and later appropriated by the Romans following the rise of Greek culture in Italy. Muscle Cuirass is often beautifully decorated and elaborately designed, as they were made for royals, nobles and senior officers. Romans guards also used this protective piece of clothing.
Roman Legion Flag Details
In ancient Rome, Standard-bearers were regarded as the soul of the army. There are a variety of standard-bearers in the Roman army. Each standard-bearer is responsible for different level flags with different functions. The most common standard-bearer is the Signifier. The Signifier is responsible for the Signum, which is the main type of Roman flag.
Roman legion signums are complicated and conspicuous, as they include lots of relevant Legion information. E.g.: The nameplate on the signum displays the unit’s name and the disc below the nameplate displays the unit number and equipment situation and a palm, wreath or such decoration on the top of the signum show that the unit is a part of the elite unit. Additionally, every Roman Legion has an Aquila, which is a rod with an eagle statue signum that symbolizes a Legion’s honor and glory.
In the current version, we have also added the Roman Legion’s two most basic Centuria signums. Other flags will be gradually added in future game versions, so stay tuned!
