Tilt Brush v16: featuring new volumetric brushes, updated sound effects, and more!
We have an exciting new Tilt Brush update out today!
New Brushes: We’ve added 12 new brushes that expand your capabilities to create different textures and volumes.
One of our favorite new brushes, Hull Brush, is a new paradigm for volumetric modeling. With this new brush, you can create anything from a natural landscape to more lifelike characters.
Beginner vs. Advanced Mode: As we keep expanding our Toolkit, we want to ensure that Tilt Brush is accessible to all experience levels. First time users of Tilt Brush will now start in Beginner Mode, which includes only the core feature set. When you open Tilt Brush after your first time, you will then be prompted to try all of the Tilt Brush Tools in the Advanced Mode. It is easy to switch between modes at any time with a quick press on the Mode Button.
New Sound FX: We launched an updated set of sound effects that integrate with your workflow. We have listened to your feedback and our revamped audio library retains Tilt Brush’s audio identity while creating a more pleasant creative environment.
Additional Tools: For our advanced users, we have added some additional tools to increase your productivity:
New Pin Tool: With the new Pin Tool, you can lock objects in place so that they are unselectable. This tool allows you to quickly pin or unpin many elements in a row. Just select the Pin Tool button in either the Quick Tools Panel or the Labs Panel and pin away.
New selection options: We have added new two selection features, the Select All Tool and Invert Selection Tool. These allow you to select all items in a sketch as well as invert selections that you have made. Long press on the Selection Tool to access these features.
Recall Mirror tool: If you have ever lost your Mirror in a busy scene or teleported away from it in your sketch, you can use the Recall Mirror Tool by long pressing on the Mirror Tool. This will teleport it right next to you.
Rapid undo/redo: If you want to undo a bunch of brush actions you can press and hold the undo controller button until the scene has reverted to the version you want. The same is now possible for redo.
We’d love to see the art that you create with these new brushes and features! Share your projects using the #TiltBrush hashtag, and we’ll highlight our favorites from @TiltBrush and @GoogleARVR.
Tilt Brush v15: New intro flow, updated sketches panel, and more!
We have an exciting new Tilt Brush update today!
With the launch of Poly, we wanted to make it easy to pull Blocks models and uploaded .objs into your Tilt Brush sketches. Now, with the Poly panel inside Tilt Brush, you can browse Featured creations, and access CC-BY creations that you made yourself, or “Liked” on Poly.
We also wanted to feature some of the amazing Tilt Brush creations made by you. Starting today, when you open Tilt Brush, you’ll be presented with a refreshed sketchbook showcasing featured sketches from Poly.
For the pro users out there, we also updated our ODS rendering tech to make creating 360 videos significantly faster… and, we added a feature allowing you to render high resolution videos along a camera path offline. Instructions for both can be found here.
Another quick patch fix for a bug that prevented some sketches from being viewable when liked on https://vr.google.com/sketches/
Tilt Brush v14.1
Quick patch fix for a bug that caused sketches containing Media Library models created with earlier versions to have incorrect placement in v14.0.
Should be all good now.
Thanks to everyone that reached out to us regarding the bug-- greatly appreciated!
Blocks Library: Starting today, you can easily pull Blocks objects directly into your Tilt Brush sketches, and share them back directly to the web. If you already use Blocks, those objects you publish to vr.google.com/objects will automatically show up inside of Tilt Brush. You can also find remixable Blocks models other people created on vr.google.com/objects. Browse objects on vr.google.com/objects and press “like” if you want an object from Blocks to be available in Tilt Brush.
Our team has already started making some reallyfunremixes using this new integration. Follow Tilt Brush on Twitter to see more examples of remixes in the coming weeks—if you publish a sketch that we like, there’s a good chance we’ll feature yours too!
Selection Tool: You asked, we listened! With the new "Selection Tool", you can select and duplicate strokes and models in your scene.
“Selection” is found next to the “Eraser” button on the Tools panel.
Select strokes using the trigger. You can also flip into deselect mode by tapping the thumbpad (Vive) or “A/X” button (Rift).
If you want to move your selection, grab it as you would any other model in your scene. To delete a selected group of strokes, just throw it away.
Duplicate selections by holding the thumbpad (Vive) or “A/X” button (Rift) while intersecting your controller with selected strokes.
Quick Tool: For those pro users out there, holding the “menu” button (Vive) or “Y/B” (Rift) on the controller now triggers a “Quick Tool” menu, letting you quickly swap tools without reaching back to the palette.
Along with these new features, we’ve also reshuffled icons on the palette, moved the user profile button to the Menu Panel, and introduced a new “More…” menu where we’re moving more advanced tools and features. If you’re looking for a Tool and can’t find it, don’t worry—we haven’t removed anything from the app! It’s likely hidden behind one of the “More...” menus, or under “Labs.”
There is no better time than today to start sharing your Tilt Brush sketches to the web!
Publish your favorite sketches made in Tilt Brush to tiltbrush.com/sketches, all from inside of the Tilt brush app. Starting today, we'll be featuring some of the best publicly shared sketches inside Tilt Brush, adding our favorite sketches to the in-app Sketchbook on a regular basis.
Also in this release, we're making available the ability to "repaint" stroke colors (tool found in the Labs panel).
