Tiny Football

Update notes for 1.6.1

Bug fix:

  • issue with last round in group stage being set from 1 to 0 in the database. This resulted in knockout stages not being generated after last group stage match.

Update notes for v1.6

Hello Tiny Footballers!

New version v1.6, featuring:

More player customisation options - new hair colors (brown, blonde.. pink?), hair styles (mullet anyone?) and skin tones. Allows individual players to be picked out easier during a match.

Swiss-system competition league/knockout - this is a competition that starts with a single league where each team enters a single league, the top teams qualify for the knockout, the next teams qualify for the playoffs, the rest go out. The winners from the playoff teams then meet the qualified teams and battle it out until the Final. Similar to the reformatting of a popular European club competition since 2024 ;)

Bug fixes/enhancements, as always:

  • Matches in wrong order during season mode
  • Sometimes winner screen was not showing for season mode
  • Ball enters goal and doesn't register, rarely but sometimes
  • Goalie gets sent off disappears
  • Put player news to top

Please let me know in the discussion forum any issues, feedback (always helpful) and hope you enjoy the changes!

Tiny Football v1.5 Update

Euro 2024 has kicked off, though my beloved Scotland took an absolute beating last night! But on a brighter note :) I’m excited to share some new features in version 1.5:

Big Performance Enhancements

The main focus of this update is performance. Some of the larger workshop items were causing long delays between matches due to extensive calculations for scores, transfers, and player skill adjustments. I’ve optimised every database interaction, resulting in significantly reduced delays. This might seem like a behind-the-scenes improvement, but it’s crucial for a smoother gaming experience.

I’ve also added some exciting new visible features:

Top Goalscorer Screen

Now you can track the top goalscorers across tournaments and season modes. Enjoy more in-depth stats while playing!

Group Stage League Screen

I’ve revamped the league screen for group stage competitions like the World Cup. You can now cycle through each group stage with a new button, allowing you to strategise and calculate what’s needed to progress.

Improved Zonal Marking and Crossing

I’ve made improvements to zonal marking and crossing, enhancing gameplay dynamics.

Bug Fixes and Minor Enhancements

As always, this update includes various bug fixes and minor enhancements to improve your gaming experience.

Also, don’t miss out on the new items added to the Steam Workshop from the last update. There’s some excellent content there to enjoy. Big shout out to the content contributors!

Enjoy the Euros!

Available now.. Enhanced editor, Steam Workshop integration (and more)

This has been a long long update in the making but hopefully takes Tiny Football to a new level with limitless content and community engagement. With a new editor and workshop integration, players can not create and share content in Tiny Football. Much of the data structure in the game had to be refactored and a ton of testing (thank you to all those who participated in testing!) and bug fixing!

Big changes

Enhanced editor - now players can create and edit their own teams, competitions and seasons. If a competition doesn't exist in the game, create your own!

Steam Workshop integration - In addition to the enhanced editor, Steam Workshop integration allows players to share their created content with other players.

See all Workshop items here - https://steamcommunity.com/workshop/browse/?appid=1887010

Other additions

Less strict referees - less fouls, more bad decisions.. more gameplay, more fun.

Fixed some issues with players not getting into goal area when ball in crossing zone.

New jump animation - now players have the ability to jump an incoming tackle if their dribbling skill level is notably higher than the tackling player. Leads to some cool dribbling runs past defending players.

And bug fixes, as always

I look forward to seeing your creations in the editor and Steam Workshop!

Update notes for v1.4 - Enhanced editor, Steam Workshop integration and more

Anyway, I hope to get the next update out a lot sooner than this one. I look forward to seeing your creations in the editor and Steam Workshop!

Enhanced editor and Steam Workshop integration .. coming soon!

The upcoming update will include two massive new features - enhanced editor and Steam Workshop integration. This has possibly been the biggest change yet, and certainly the most work on my part. The aim is creating custom content in addition to the content that ships with the game.

User Generated Content, enhanced Editor

Previously the editor only allowed basic changes such as changing names, team colours, hair skin colour etc. Now players can create content such as new teams (custom names, skill levels, colours), any competition (knockout, league, group stage knockout), custom season modes (e.g. domestic leagues using custom domestic and continental cup competitions), any new/edited club or national team, edit team player names, skill levels, hair/skin colour, position, nationality etc etc.

Steam Workshop

I've had enough requests via the online community to finally make the push for this and am delighted to announce that Tiny Football now supports the creation and sharing of Steam Workshop items. Using content created in the new editor, players can build Workshop items and share them online. Create new teams, leagues, knockouts, group stage competitions and seasons (combining them all) for anything you want.. not just limited to the pre-installed content. I'm looking forward to seeing your creations.

Update notes for v1.3

Version 1.3 has a new look to the menus as well as a ton of work done to support multiple languages - as well as the addition of Chinese and Japanese.

Full list of features below:

Revamped menus

Gameplay menus have a new dark theme to differentiate from the home menu and other setup screen’s light theme.

Watch computer vs computer matches

I had a lot of fun with this feature and I think it added a more competition edge to even single player gameplay. From the fixtures screen, players can click on other matches they wish to watch. For example, if your team reaches the semi final you can watch the other computer vs computer match in real time to see what team you’ll meet in the final match. Or watch the Manchester derby match that’s playing alongside your own team’s match.

Full translations across entire game

Translations since early release have been somewhat patchy. The list of items needing translations has grown, also the previous font didn’t support all languages (Russian, Chinese, Japanese). Now all items (buttons, info labels, team names etc) have been added to the translation maps and fonts have been updated to support all character encoding.

Add Chinese and Japanese languages

Now our gamer friends in China and Japan can enjoy Tiny Football :)

Upgrade stadium to have corner stands for clubs competing in Europe

As your team progresses through the league divisions (English only, for now) your stadium will grow to reflect your team’s growing support base. Corner stands fit more supporters.

Use thread to create new season

The games will take a short moment to create a new season. This is now handled on a separate thread and doesn’t stall the game in the process.

Fix marquee text on some menu items

Fix match menu bug when cancel button pressed crashes gameplay

...plus many more bug and minor enhancements
