Casino: Phase 2


We're continuing to fix various bugs identified during the public beta test.

macdguy continued working on bug fixes, fixing issues in Roulette where chips wouldn't clear, games issuing incorrect payouts, HUD optimizations, etc.

Sketchman continued working on bug fixes, working on fixing issues with the backend systems.

Little Crusaders: Cardboard Castle WIP



Lifeless started working on a new Little Crusaders map, Cardboard Castle.

Virus: Hospital Level Design Changes



Lifeless worked on level design changes for Virus: Hospital. There is now a broken window into the cafeteria area, a new route up to the upper floor near the reception area, and a new visual blocker for the long hallway.

Virus: Subway Level Design Changes



Lifeless worked on level design changes for Virus: Subway. The ticket gates are now wider, with obvious indicators. Several areas of the map were cordoned off to make it smaller, and to prevent camping. There also is now visual blockers in one of the longer corridors.

Condo Item Changes



macdguy fixed some issues with physics items. Physics items will now properly react to mud, ice, and water.

Miscellany



Johanna worked on a bunch of optimizations in the Arcade, massively reducing the amount of drawcalls. This means that the game will be able to render everything on the screen much more quickly and efficiently, increasing performance in the arcade.

Will continued working on music for SDNL.

Casino: Phase 2


Last week, we conducted a Public Beta test of Casino: Phase 2. Thank you so much to everyone who participated in helping identify bugs. We're working actively on working on fixing these remaining bugs and are hoping to release Phase 2 of the Casino in the next few weeks.

Casino: Phase 2


Most of the work on Casino: Phase 2 has been completed. We're currently in the clean-up period, fixing some last minute bugs and conducting internal play tests. We plan on having a Public Beta Test for Casino: Phase 2 at some point in the future before the main release, so stay tuned on our Discord and Twitter for information.

macdguy continued fixing bugs that cropped up during internal playtests for Roulette, Bingo, Silver Saddles, and Blackjack. He also added physics to the Spin 2 Win paddle.

Sketchman worked on code fixes for the Roulette wheel.

Condo: Drum Machine



Madmijk continued working on the condo instruments. He's ready to show off a new addition, a Drum Machine.

With the Drum Machine, you can make drum patterns with a maximum of 32 beats and 16 steps per beat. Pallets with multiple patterns in them can be created to program lengthy drum sessions.

It features a wide selection of instrument variations, volume and pitch control per instrument, step velocity control, swing timing, and the ability to mute/isolate instrument tracks.

As with the other instruments in the future, it will support MIDI input. The note-sound mapping in MIDI follows the General MIDI Drum map.

Unfortunately, the Drum Machine item will not be released with the Casino: Phase 2 update, and its spot on the new Spin 2 Win wheel has been replaced with a "Nightclub Item Pack". We plan on releasing the Drum Machine, along with the guitar item and MIDI support in a later update very soon.

New Condo Items



macdguy worked on adding two new items for the Condo, a Canvas Decal item and a Nightclub Spotlight. New settings were also added to physics items, allowing the player to set a respawn location when a item is thrown. This can be useful for Physical Media so the item will respawn at its original resting place.

Double EXP Fishing Weekend Event!

macdguy finished up work on Bingo, getting the logic, screen, gameplay, betting, and rewards systems finished. He also worked on updating the "Game Helper" UI from the Arcade so that it can be used anywhere in the Plaza.

June 2022 Condo Contest CONCLUDED

Work continues on the next phase of the Casino.

macdguy fixed several bugs with Roulette and Silver Saddles. He added 3D bet indicators to Silver Saddles for better tracking of horse bets. He also continued working on Bingo, making the final touches. The Spin 2 Win second wheel had its graphics finished and item reward code completed.

Johanna continued working on the new Virus map, Corrosion. The sound pass has been completed and the map is getting the final stage of polish before release.

Johanna continued working on the art pass for the SDNL map, Frostbite.

New Items, Media Player Settings, and Condo I/O



Two new Media Player items will be added to a future update, a Catsack Head TV (found via Catsacks), and a Broken TV (found via Fishing).

Media Players now have new settings, allowing the player to change the saturation, turn on/off Scanlines, and adjust glare. The new TV items will have some of these settings on or off by default, but they're adjustable in the item settings.

Persistent Connections for Condo I/O is completed. Shown in previous developer logs, this feature allows the player to connect items together in unique ways. Unlike event based connections, such as a button press, persistent connections feed data directly into another item, such as the video output of the Security Camera into a Media Player.

Finally, we've revamped our internal item settings system to allow us to more easily add small settings to individual items with low impact to development time. For example, the additional settings added to the Trampoline below took less than 3 minutes to add. This new system will also help reduce bugs as they're automatically supported by the Copycat and Undo tools. Over time, we will be slowly porting over items to the new system.

Hello everyone, and welcome to the Weekly Dev Log for July 11th, 2022, detailing all the changes that have happened since July 5th, 2022. Note: Devs that don't appear in the weekly log are not necessarily away or not doing work, but may be working on things currently not announced or backend work that doesn't need to be detailed.

Accessibility Suggestions


We've created a forum post asking the community for suggestions on how we can improve gameplay for players with certain conditions such as colorblindness, dyslexia, or anything else that might affect a players ability to use the standard presentation and controls of the game.

June 2022 Condo Contest NOW VOTING!


Hey everyone!

It's time for another Condo Contest. The objective for this contest is to make an area for a media player!

Whether it's a drive-in, a cozy living room, a theater, or a TV floating in space- your entry just needs to be a cool spot to hang out and use a media player.

First prize wins 2,000,000 units!

Casino: Phase 2


Work continues on the next phase of the Casino.

macdguy fixed some bugs found during an internal playtest. He's continuing to work on "Silver Saddles" and Bingo.

Sketchman worked on art for the new Casino achievements.

Will worked on music and sounds for "Silver Saddles" and Bingo.

Virus: Altar



Nuclearxpotato continued working on Virus: Altar. He fixed some issue noticed in the first internal playtest, while also adding more detail to the map.

Johanna continued working on Virus: Corrosion and SDNL: Frostbite.

JJosh continued working on the Celebrations NPC.

Lifeless continued working on SDNL: Hinderance.

macdguy fixed some bugs with Virus and Ball Race. He also continued working on Condo I/O features.

Madmijk continued working on condo instruments.

Sketchman continued working on adding Discord Rich Presence functionality.

Wheezwer continued working on Steam Trading Cards and Badges.

Will continued working on music for SDNL.

JJosh continued working on the new Spin 2 Win items.

macdguy worked on the game loops for Blackjack and 5 card draw. He also spent time setting up all of the machines into the actual Casino map.

Sketchman worked on art for the new Casino achievements.
