Toy Soldiers: Complete Update #6

Hey Everyone!
I’d like to let you all know what we’ve been busy with this week at Signal Studios. Besides preparing for PAX, we’ve been working hard on Toy Soldiers: Complete.

Some bugs that we’re looking to have fixed for Friday:

  • Shadow ranges for low/med/high settings fixed (was not reading the ranges properly)
  • Fixed missing button icon on the profile badge "Press to Join" legend.
  • Added " Press to Join" legend to the nav controls on level select and versus private match screens.
  • Fixed helicopter HUDs using wrong control profile (planes instead of vehicles)
  • Fixed keybindings using wrong game control for Increase/Decrease altitude on vehicles.

Besides that, we’re still working hard on the de-sync issue with Multiplayer. Unfortunately, this has been really challenging for us to fix, but we’re trying! We think it might be an issue with the syncing of the input, but need to dig deeper.

I also have some exciting news; the original Toy Soldiers content should open up soon in the game! It may still have some missing features, but we’re looking to at least get you all in the levels and playing!

Last, Trading Cards should also be implemented soon! We have special ones for the Early Access players, and different ones for after Early Access.

As always, we appreciate you’ve all supported us through this process! Early Access can be challenging, but we’re working very hard to make the game as awesome as it can be. We’re glad that you’re all helping us by reporting bugs and other problems! Thank you! ːDː

Toy Soldiers: Complete Update #5

Toy Soldiers: Complete Update #5

We've been working hard on Toy Soldiers: Complete with our pal's over at Krome Studios.

Here's what we've put in today's build:
    UI Fixes:
  • Tabbing out of the game while in the Weapons Case will no longer result is missing description text.
  • When using the gamepad, cancelling a turret no longer leaves a transparent stamp of the turrets health bar on the map.
  • Turret health meter no longer appears empty if the player tabs out of the game and then re-enters.

    Gameplay:
  • Fixed a Tutorial Placement Menu bug that happened while playing at non-1280x720 resolution.
  • Makeshift Turret III now says "(Hold) Fire" instead of just "Fire"
  • MIRV secondary attack now works in Shell Cam while using an Artillery 2 unit.

    Other:
  • General icon and gameplay fixes.
  • Potential fix for issues whereby the icons immediately swap to being keyboard/mouse icons, when using the controller
  • Various fixes to help with startup crashes.

Along with these fixes, we're still working to get multi-player fixed and getting the original Toy Soldiers content live into the game.
We thank you all for your support as we go through Early Access!

Toy Soldiers: Complete Update #4

Hello! Once again, update time has come!
If you do not see the latest update, please restart your Steam client.

Patch Notes:
  • Added mouse wheel support for scrolling through various vertical menu options
  • Versus mode “offensive wave list” popup menu can now be cancelled by right clicking the moue
  • The sell turret confirmation dialog can now be cancelled by right clicking the moue
  • When using keyboard and mouse, only the build sites that the mouse is hovering over is highlighted, not all build sites
  • Steam Offline Mode should work properly now
  • The “Brightness” control is disabled when running in a window (as it has no effect)
  • The start of survival levels “Press to skip” now works
  • “Reset Profile” is now “Reset Game Progress” – settings (graphics, audio, controller) are not reset now, only the level progression
  • Fixed an issue where the mouse cursor visibility would get out of sync with the restrict mouse cursor setting when returning to the title screen.
  • Fixed an issue where input was disabled if the player accepted a game invite externally to the game (eg a Steam friend message window) while on the title screen.
  • The “Exit vehicle” text has been corrected
  • Some changes to help with multiplayer desync (Unfortunately, there are still other issues).
  • Fixed threading issue that may have been a cause of some peoples’ crashes trying to load the game.

We're also still working hard to fix the original Toy Soldiers content for you to play! We'll make sure to keep you updated with that progress.

Once again, thank you for all your support while we work to fix all the issues in this game! We appreciate all your dedication!
Also, please continue to let us know what bugs you're experiencing!
Thanks :D

Toy Soldiers: Complete Update #3

We've just pushed the third update to Toy Soldiers: Complete! Please close out of Steam and restart it in order to see these updates if it does not start automatically.

Patch Notes:

  • Hid the "Turn" hud icons on artillery turrets when in the Weapons Case (because the firing arc restriction on artillery turrets is removed in the Weapons Case).
  • Fixed the missing sounds for the commandos in the Survival maps
  • Fixed bug in splitscreen mode where positional audio would only use one player’s listener position
  • Changed art to new keyboard icon set
  • Mouse driven RTS cursor is now restricted to a camera blocker if one is enabled
  • Fixed some barrages to get the real duration of a barrage instead of a hardcoded 20 seconds.
  • Fixed permanent black screen after the end of game commando movie on the credits.
  • Fixed an issue which may have been related to a crash on the frontend after returning from the end of game credits.
  • Change to GUI texture formats so that it uses better texture filtering methods for if the display resolution is different to the source texture size. Improves quality of UI texture edges at higher resolutions (as it’s not longer just point sampling)
  • Changes to make the single player game run at vsync framerate. Networked multiplayer still runs at 30fps fixed time delta. Misc fixes for hardcoded 30fps math that could affect gameplay.
      This means that, in fullscreen:
    • With VSync disabled, the game will run as fast as your PC can run the game
    • With VSync set enabled the game will run at 60fps, if your PC can sustain 60fps. It will then drop to 45fps, 30fps, 20fps – or whatever your PC can sustain
    • VSync has no effect if you’re running in a window, so it’ll just be rendering as fast as your PC can.

Please let us know if you have any questions!

Toy Soldiers: Complete Update #2

Our latest Toy Soldiers: Complete update is live!
    Fixes in the current build:
  • Improved mouse control for turrets and vehicles.
  • Quick access keys working now (use, upgrade, repair, sell).
  • Open Placement Menu icon in tutorial now bound to Left Mouse Button.
  • Fixed incorrect button icon for "Drop_Bomb" in the bombing overlay.
  • Replaced Out of Bounds Indicator "Press B to exit" text with a GameControlLegend and the text "to exit."
  • Fixed lack of input control in split screen multiplayer when you pause or try to quit.
  • When right click is held down, the mouse gets pinned to where you clicked so that the icon doesn't move on the screen. This stops the player from moving the mouse to the edge of the screen, and the game also starting to translate/pan at the same time as rotate.
  • Changes to allow shell cam to use the same keys as the switch turrets so that shell caming while in an artillery turret (etc) doesn't change turrets if you try to speed up or slow down the shell.
  • In keyboard and mouse mode, the build menu now only appears when clicking on a build site.
  • Disabled circle cursor in keyboard and mouse mode.
  • Added 'Report a Bug' option to the main menu that opens up to our Steam Discussion thread for reporting bugs.
  • A simple method for resetting all key-bindings to default, using versioning in this place. This unfortunately means that people will lose all their current custom rebinds, sorry!

    Still being worked on:
  • Keyboard and mouse control updates.
  • Network desync issues.
  • Continuing work on Toy Soldiers 1!

EDIT: More notes to add!
  • Lots of mouse control/sensitivity fixes for all unit types
  • Added in mouse invert options, separate to gamepad invert options
  • Fixed some bugs on keyboard and mouse settings screen - Fixed the broken fade background & missing text entry
  • Weapons Case - Navigation icons now display the correct controls for the mode you are in. Change turret, rotate turret and exit screen are shown when you're not in a turret. Exit turret is shown when you are in a turret.
  • Weapons Case - Gamepad can now control the aiming of turrets in the Weapons Case.
  • Weapons Case - Changed the default binding of ENTER_EXIT_UNIT on gamepad to B so that the correct icon is shown on the nav icons. Disabled ENTER_EXIT_UNIT from actually triggering an enter unit when using gamepad, as that is handled by the SELECT when using gamepad.
  • SPACE (default binding) for quick enter/exit of turrets now works
  • Mouse now moves to the first icon in turret selection menu automatically when you click on a build site
  • Fixes so that Player 1 is Ivan in the Ironfisted Survival->Commando version. No idea how this could have worked on X360 as things were though, so not entirely sure this is the "correct" fix...? No sound in any of the survival maps for the commando ATM though.
  • Misc fixes for some HUD elements not showing the correct controls.

Let us know if you experience any bugs!

Toy Soldiers: Complete Update #1

We made it through our first weekend on Steam, and we thank every single one of you for supporting us along the way!

We just released our first update to the game. The update fixes the following issues:

  • The overlays for shellcam and similar parts being offset should be fixed for all resolutions
  • The “UI is upside down and back the front” at high resolutions are fixed
  • The game should now work on Window XP SP3
  • 16:9 aspect ratio letterboxing now works correctly when you change resolution in the game (rather than just working properly again once you reboot)
  • 16:9 aspect ratio letterboxing works correctly on the intro Signal Studios logo video
  • The issue where you couldn't build turrets during some multiplayer games should be fixed
  • A couple of small UI icon placement fixes on the main menu
  • We’ve added a “game version” check to the networking

Along with fixing bugs, we've been working hard on the inclusion of Toy Soldiers 1! We’re working on adding new Commandos, voices, and weapons that aren't seen in the original release. We’ll keep you all updated when we plan on releasing this, but we’re planning for it soon!

Again, thank you all for being so active on our Steam Discussions, along with our own forums. We appreciate all your support and feedback!
