We are happy to announce Traitors in Salem is now fully released! Thank you to everyone who has helped us out throughout the Alpha and Beta to make this game a reality.

How to play?: In terms of gameplay, each player gets one of 31 possible unique roles at the start of the game. Players can interact with NPCs to start different quests that can contribute to the towns victory, or gives special personal perks. Roles have abilities to do things like reveal yourself to the town as innocent, track down a killer from a dead body, and even shoot the suspicious. Other role abilities include things like burning away dead bodies, convert Town members over to the side of Evil, and blocking all Town members from using abilities. The Town members (good guys) will try and use abilities to find out information to use at the Trial to hang Traitors. Traitors will use stealth and cunning to avoid detection and kill of Town members. Once one faction remains, the winner is declared.

Today we are doing a small patch to help prepare for the launch of the game!
Improvements • Added click sounds to tabs in Wardrobe. • Added a notification to players that will display if they try to log in while the server is undergoing patching. • Limited skin-changing poof sound to yourself to prevent sound spamming behavior in lobbies. • While in the lobby, character skins can now only be changed via Customization when standing around the gallows. Bug Fixes • Fixed some performance issues in Satrio pet that was affecting frame rates. • Fixed several null reference and missing reference exceptions. • Removed stray space at end of friend status. • Fixed Faerie’s missing hand on victory screen.
Traitors in Salem Will Be Releasing September 14th 2022!
BlankMediaGames is happy to announce our new free-to-play social deduction game Traitors in Salem will be releasing September 14th, 2022.
Town of Salem is one of the first, and most popular social deduction video games. Now, we are releasing our second game into the social deduction genre.

Traitors in Salem Patch B1.16 Free to Play!
Hey Traitors!
Traitors in Salem is now free to play! The game will be down for a bit, so please be patient. We will make another post when the game is back up. Check out the full patch notes later in this post.
Everyone can now download Traitors in Salem on Steam and access the Classic game mode for free. This gives you access to many of the roles available in the game, all quests, and a new way to deceive your friends!
Players can purchase the Key to the Town to receive the Satrio unique pet, 1300 TP to start your journey to Salem, access the Custom game mode, Chaos game modes, and the shop to purchase cosmetic items. Build, save and share your custom role lists with friends, Hop into a capture the flag game for a change of pace, or look for new friends in the game browser featuring games you can join!
Every player who has purchased the game already will be upgraded to the premium version for free. You will also get an extra $10 in Town Points totaling $15 in Town Points!
New Features • Classic mode Traitors in Salem is now free-to-play. • Chinese translation, chat ability, and play queues. • Added Add Friend button to Player List items. • Added Capture the Flag actions to the Chat Log. • Added fanfare sound to trumpets on Capture the Flag Victory screen. • Host repick votes will now be shown in the Lobby chat window. • Added Name Change as an account item in the Shop. • Added instructions in the lobby role list to help explain to Custom game hosts how to set up a game and make it public so other players can find and join their game.
Improvements • Updated Classic Game Mode role list to be more beginner friendly. • Improved the standard End Game screen. • When the Game Browser is opened, any open Friends or Notifications list will be automatically closed. • While you are alive in a game, you will no longer hear the chatbox message received sound when friends send you messages. Should you die in-game, you will then be notified that you have queued messages. • Removed the notification sound that would occur anytime a friend’s status (online, in-game, etc) changed. • Added an animation to the friend count that occurs when the number of friends online changes. • Added a Click sound to the host Repick button. • Added a laughter sound to the Hex Totem end game cinematic. • Outgoing game invite messages are now retained when clicking between friends in the friends chat. • When a friend accepts your friend invite, you will now receive a brief notice in the upper message drawer. • Older accumulated friend messages will be discarded during an ongoing session (after closing and reopening the friend chat dialog) to avoid performance issues when opening chat. • Added rain animation to Traitor victory screen. • Added animation to the filigrees on victory screens. • Added sound effect when changing skins via Customization. • Added sound effect when Disguiser disguises or removes disguise.
Bug Fixes • Fixed an issue in the Friends Chat dialog where clicking on a friend in the list that has an unread messages splat could cause the splat image on all friends with unread messages to be dismissed. • Fixed an issue in the Tutorial mode where leaving the tutorial and then returning again could cause the “Learn about nighttime” tip to repeat indefinitely. • Fixed an issue where highlighting (selecting) long message texts or moving through them with the arrow keys would cause the entirety of the text to lose its masking and display itself outside of the input box. • Speed Boost is now properly removed at the end of a game as the player is returned to Lobby phase. • Using the telescopes will now properly close any open popups such as the graveyard list, chat log, role list, map, and dead chat to prevent obscuring the telescope’s view. • Fixed an issue where achievements could be improperly earned in Tutorial and CTF game modes. • Fixed an issue where host Repick counts were not being reset between games. • Fixed the Prosecutor action icon which was a bit greyer than the other action icons. • Removed Game Invite button from Friends chat when in Tutorial mode. • Fixed dagger minigame to properly restart if you receive it again in a subsequent game in the same session. • The Sabotage Bridge and Fix Bridge minigames will no longer be available once the final Escort Quest has begun. • Any text that said “night time” has been changed to say “nighttime”. • Fixed some misspellings and punctuation in the Tutorial instructions text and tooltips. • Fixed some tooltip punctuation in the Deck Manager screen. • Standardized references to Hex Master and Potion Master to always have spaces in the name. • Fixed flashing outlines on back and front of Tavern. • Fixed collider issue near Mansion front door. • Fixed an out of bounds clip between the tavern and bridge to the graveyard.
Traitors in Salem Friend List Hotfixes
Today we’re issuing a hot patch to address a few issues with the recently released Friends and Notifications feature. Happy hanging!
Improvements • Added unique sounds for Friend Request and Game Invite notifications. • Changed font used for system messages displayed in the top drawer dropdown. • When returning to Lobby from an active game, the Role List will be displayed regardless of whether the Friends or Notifications List had been displaying when the previous game started.
Bug Fixes • Fixed an issue where the UI could become unresponsive to player input during a game if they happened to be entering a new Friend’s name in the Add Friend input box as their game started. • Fixed an issue with Splat showing up on multiple friend names in Friends Chat dialog when only one friend has sent a new message. • Fixed an issue where even if you were looking at the active chat with a particular friend, if they sent you a new chat message, it would show a splat on the Notification button and also add the message notification to the notification list. • Fixed an issue where the HUD Banner grey background would show when joining a game, with no text message displayed. • Fixed an issue where the role deck extended role card could show both yellow and purple highlight on evil cards. • Added punctuation to tooltip on Start button stating “You must have at least xx players to start a game”.
Traitors in Salem Patch B.1.14 Friends List Added!
Today we are releasing the Friends System which will allow you add friends, message friends, and invite friends to games! We have also made changes to the kill sounds we added in our last patch to help keep the cool factor they added without being a tool to identify killers. Be sure to check out the full list of changes below!
New Features • Now introducing Friends! You and your buddies can now be Friends, allowing you to message them and invite them to play with you! • Added an attack sound for Pirate’s kill. • Added ability for Prosecutor to text chat during prosecution the same as the Defendant.
Breaking Changes • Changed the format for deck manager saves to invalidate old save files. This was necessary due to changes in the numbering used within the save files. You will need to recreate your saved game setups. Apologies for that, but we are still in Beta at this point and occasionally we need to break something to move the game forward.
Improvements • Generic Kill Sounds - Refactored kill sounds based upon player feedback. The new way that kill sounds will work is that if you are either the killer or the victim, you will hear the specialized kills sounds specific to the killer’s skin. If you are not the killer or the victim, but are simply a witness to a murder (even one on the edge of line-of-sight), you will only hear a generic kill sound. This means that you will not be able to identify the killer based solely on the sound the killer makes. • In the Role Deck screen, the Townie and Traitor basic roles now sort to the top of the available role list so they can be quickly banned without having to search through the list of available roles. • Banned roles will now display a ban icon on the role card in the available roles list. • Improved layout of dropdowns on Host Options page. • Improved pathing to gallows. • Removed the duplicated timer display during the Listen phase of trial (both standard and Prosecution). • In games where the Show Names host option has been set to false, certain roles such as Psychic and Seer will no longer see player in-game names in the HUD stackable notifications messages for their roles. Instead, they will now properly see the character (skin) names. • Added Shooting Range to minimap. • Added sound effect to Mayor Reveal. • Added sound effect to Barkskin shield being used. • Synchronized bell ring with cinematic and reduced bell sound to play only once rather than four times. • Refactored Discussion and Trial voting to prevent spam voting (voting for someone, then continually changing vote repeatedly) which could flood the chat log with vote entries and potentially cause lag when opening the chat log. The chat log will now only register the latest changed vote, rather than every changed vote. • Discussion and Trial voting chat log entries will now say “You” rather than your in-game name on vote log entries. • Layout improvements on Dispel Magic match runes minigames. • Improved appearance of skip button on Discussion screen. Dark background and highlight were about 5 pixels off. • The Ice Storm spell does not slow ghosts, so the HUD Banner text has been slightly tweaked to make it more proper for when ghosts read the message. • The chat log message for a body being reported will now say where the body was found (if allowed by Host Options settings). • Fixed HUD Banner message when Medium dies to make it more obvious they have a short time to reveal another player’s role.
Bug Fixes • Certain abilities such as Speed Boost will now be removed at the end of a game as the player is returned to Lobby phase. • Fixed Role Deck Manager button to properly open the Role Deck Manager. • Fixed Role Deck Loader to properly load saved role lists containing multiples of a role. • The + and - buttons no longer display on the Role buttons in Classic Mode lobby if you are the host. These were improperly displaying even though they were non-functional. • Fixed an issue where the victim’s role during the Who Died announcement would sometimes use the improper version of the indefinite article a/an. • After you have completed the Hidden Passage bookcase minigame, subsequent games in the same session will now properly show the books in the bookcase minigame. • After you have completed the Collect Firewood chop wood minigame, subsequent games in the same session will now properly show the log atop the cutting base again. • Fixed Seer and Investigator ability use counts decrementing by two rather than one when ability is used on an Illusion. • When a Seer either Gazes or Intuits an Illusionist’s illusion, the intuit will now always report different factions. • Fixed the use count label on the Seer’s Intuit ability to start at 2 uses rather than 3. • Using the Seer’s ability on an Illusionist’s illusion will no longer potentially trigger the earning of achievements such as checking a revealed mayor. • Fixed missing Hammond pet on Mac machines. • Fixed grammar error on Illusionist role card. • Fixed sound effect on Report Body cinematic. • Spelling fixes to some items. • Some fixes to camera following timings.

Today's patch brings some QoL improvements, new killing/dying sounds, and several bug fixes! Check out the full notes below to see all the changes.
New Features • Killing and dying sounds added (first pass).
Improvements • Improved the autosizing of the Shuffle button text in the Dispel Magic minigame to better support localization. • To avoid extremely long upper case player names, updating the player name in Customization will now count every upper case letter as two characters towards the character limit of 20. • Added a Submit button next to the Customization name panel as some people would change their name and then close the panel without pressing enter. This makes it more obvious the name needs to be submitted before it can take affect. • Setting in-game player name in Customization to blank will now reset the player back to using default skin name. • Barkskin shield effect icon will now show in Discussion player buttons. • Minor layout improvements on Discussion screen buttons to reduce potential overlapping of elements. • Lowered the highest point of the Townie Ghosts on end game screen to prevent running off the top of the screen. • Added more task types to the Quest Board to ensure more variety when pulling new quests. • Reworded the message received by Town players when a Traitor casts a Displace spell to make it more applicable when received by a ghost. • Synchronized the bell ringing sound with the cinematic. • Added temporary sound effects to regular kill and final kill cinematics to add drama pending final sound effects. • Removed Pirate’s peg leg sound until we obtain a better sound file. • Additional sound effects added.
Bug Fixes • Resizing the game from windowed to full screen will no longer display black bars at the sides or top of the screen. • Updated Illusionist role card text to mention using the secondary button. • Updated Disguiser role card text to mention using the secondary button. • Fixed overlapping text on long role names in extended Role Card. • Fixed some issues with Classic Mode’s Role Deck Viewer. • The Extended role card in Role Deck Viewer will no longer show a blank card upon the first open of role deck. • The Confuse spell effect icon is now removed from a character when they are killed, rather than showing the effect icon on the corpse and/or ghost. • The Confuse spell effect icon will no longer fall off from players that leave line-of-sight and return. • Fixed issue in the Dispel Magic minigame where clicking either of the bottom 2 tiles above the Shuffle button triggered a shuffle. • Using a Telescope as a ghost in a Capture The Flag game will no longer leave you stuck on a black screen when you respawn. • Fixed Gravedigger quest to say Thomas on both the NPC nametag and the Quest dialog. • Fixed the acceptable in-game name maximum characters to sixteen and synced client and server length checking. • Fixed several non-crashing exceptions.
