Developer blog #6: Sound effects
Today we published a next developer blog. This time, we speak about how we designed the sound effects in order to make Transport Fever a game which is not only nice to look at, but also nice to listen to!
There is a multitude of sound effects and they can be categorized as follows:
- Environment effects emitted by water, wind, birds, etc.
- Constructions effects emitted by stations, industries, town buildings, etc.
- User interface effects emitted when bulldozing, track construction, clicking buttons, etc.
- Vehicle effects emitted by running trains, aircraft take-off, etc.
While all of them are important to reach a high degree of immersion, the vehicle effects for sure deserve closer attention. This is why we show examples of this category in the video.
Please find the corresponding video on our website:
Thanks a million for your interest and feedback. As always, we very much look forward to read your comments and receive your questions!
Transport Fever at gamescom
This week, part of our team is at gamescom. We've joined the nice folks of Gambitious Digital Entertainment to show Transport Fever to members of the press. Therefore, you can expect new previews, reports and interviews to be published over the next couple of days and weeks.
We want to take the opportunity to give some additional information about the current development situation. While the game is still in alpha, we are rapidly approaching beta state now and target to start the beta test soon. As you may know, the application phase of the beta test is already finished and participants have been selected.
Once the beta test has started, we plan to release the game within five to ten weeks. In other words, you can definitely look forward to Transport Fever being in stores (and on Steam) this fall!
To ease the waiting, additional updates (including new developer blogs) will be published. As a start, we have updated the today. Finally, let us say thank you for your interest, feedback, comments and participation, which are a great motivation for us.

Vehicle page update #5
Today we added another ten vehicles to the existing list.
The update includes four ships, two planes, two locomotives and two street vehicles. Three vehicles are highlighted in the following:
The Wilhelm ship was built with the support of King Wilhelm I. of Württemberg and was officially the first steamer on the Lake Constance.
The Boeing 757, an exceptionally large narrow body plane, is a twin-jet aircraft with over 1000 units built in various variants.
The very futuristic RTC Wrightbus was designed to mimic a train and is in use in the city of Las Vegas.

FAQ page updated
We are very happy about the great feedback we received after publishing the gamescom trailer. Though the trailer answered a lot of question, it also raised a number of new ones.
Consequently we decided to update the FAQ page once more to answer questions about the new towns, industries and modding possibilities.
We are sure, there are still some questions left unanswered, so we would like to invite you to further write comments and give us feedback!

Gamescom trailer released
We are very happy to today publish a new game trailer.
While illustrating all aspects of the game, the trailer in particular highlights the game's towns and demonstrates popular modding options. In addition, it shows campaign elements for the first time and proves that multi railway crossings, a very important element of the track construction tools, are powerful and intuitive.
Please find the corresponding video on our website:
We hope that you like our newest trailer, and as always, the whole team looks forward to receive your feedback.
Beta test update
We would like to express our gratitude for the great interest in the beta test. An overwhelming amount of over 6,000 people applied. This exceeded our expectations by far!
It is our endeavor to integrate all beta testers into the development process as close as possible. Accordingly we decided that the quality of the beta test will benefit by limiting the available spots.
We are sorry that due to this decision a big portion of the applications will have to be rejected. Though the chance is very slim, we will draw the spots among all applicants to guarantee everybody has a shot to get in.
We would also like to point out that a part of the applications are not complete and thus will not be considered. However, it is possible to complete and rectify data until Friday, July 22.
It is planned that everybody who applied will get notified by email on Tuesday, July 26, about the outcome. Everybody who was picked will receive additional information about the further procedure.
Thank you again for the lively participation. We are convinced that with the help of the beta testers we can significantly improve the quality of Transport Fever.
Developer blog #5: Cargo system
While development is running at full speed to prepare everything for the upcoming beta test we are very happy to today release another developer video blog.
Based on the criticism we received for the cargo system in Train Fever, we tried to eliminate the weaknesses and fulfil the major wishes. We are convinced that our new approach significantly improves game-play, and that it brings the cargo system to a new level.
Please find the corresponding video on our website:
Here is a short summary of the cargo system:
- About 20 cargo types (six end products are required by towns)
- About 15 animated and growing industries
- A wide range of complex cargo chains
- Stock and cargo type conversion simulation
- Realistic cargo flow (cargo items never get lost)
As always, we look forward to receive feedback, questions and suggestions!
Vehicle page update #4
Today’s update of the vehicle page adds some famous and popular vehicles to the existing list.
Among them there are two new airplanes: The Dornier Do-B Merkur, which set seven world records within a few days in the year 1926 thanks to the pilots Walter Mittelholzer and Georg Zinsmaier.
The Douglas DC-4 is a robust prop plane. Quite a few of them were converted for civil use after they served in the 2nd world war. Some are still in operation today.
In addition, the list newly contains high-speed trains from Europe and America. A highlight is definitely the Pioneer Zephyr, also known as Silver Streak. Made mostly out of stainless steel, the Zephyr is one of the first streamliner for passenger service and had a very futuristic look for that time.
Please visit the vehicle page to find out more about the new additions:
http://www.transportfever.com/game-info/vehicles/
There are still a lot of vehicles we would like to present. Therefore please expect more vehicle page updates to come.
Finally, let us mention that we are blessed by the huge number of beta test applications we received so far! Registration is still possible until July 17th:
Also, please note that we will release more developer blog videos in the near future.
Closed beta test application
We value the feedback from the community very much! To allow for a closer look on the state of the game prior to release, we will carry out a closed beta test. This will not only help us to eliminate bugs but also to improve the overall game experience.
We would like to invite everybody who is interested in participating to fill out the application form. Prerequisites are a Steam account and the willingness to report about the experience with the test version on a regular basis. As we expect more applications than we can handle for organizational reasons, we hope for your understanding that we cannot accept everybody.
The link to application can be found on our website:
The application is open until July 17 2016, and the beta test is currently scheduled to start in August.
FAQ page updated
Again we received a lot of questions about Transport Fever via the various social media channels, via our website and by email. Therefore, the FAQ-page was extended to give more answers.
While many questions have aleady been answered, there are still some open questions around, typically on very specific topics. Because we are still evaluating and testing some features, it is simply too early for some questions to give a 100% final answer. We kindly ask for your understanding on this.
Anyway, the FAQ page will be further updated during the development of the game, and as always, you are very welcome to send us questions, feedback and suggestions!
