Trials of Fire Weekly Update (v0.67) Release Notes
Good afternoon all,
This week’s update sees the introduction of a new game mode for experienced players to test out their best parties against Boss Rush.
Additionally, a small change to deck-building to prevent some infinite combos and tiny decks being effective.
Increased overall difficulty a bit to balance out movement updates.
Hope you enjoy the changes and let us know what you think on discord!
New Game Mode
Boss Rush
Take on increasingly hard boss encounters.
Select a party from a previous run to tackle this gauntlet.
Combat only.
Mechanics Changes
Acid: Acid now deals double damage to Defence. A good way to keep Defence down on tough enemies, even at relatively low stacks.
Exhausted: Every time you empty your deck, a single Exhausted card is added before re-shuffling. Exhausted cards have no effect but can be recycled.
Card Changes
‘Summoner’ – Changed effect to, ‘All of your Summons deal +1 damage and gain +1 movement. New Summons gain +2 Health.’
The previous incarnation was a bit too swingy (really powerful on draw/cheap focused decks) and didn’t really fit a dedicated summon (expensive!) build.
‘Offensive Stance’ – Increased cost to 1 (from 0).
‘Might’ – Increased cost to 2 (from 1).
‘Battle Stance’ – Increased cost to 3 (from 2).
Base increase to basic damage powers to go along with more readily available WP.
‘Show the Way’ (Warlord) – Removed the Willpower gain from base version. (Upgraded still provides WP).
‘Garotte’ (Assassin) – Changed effect to, ‘Melee Attack 2. If you have Stealth, deal double damage and the target discards a card.’ This is to make the card a little less situational.
‘Escape’ (Hunter) – Changed effect to, ‘Defend 2 move to the closest empty space with no adjacent enemies and gain 1 Willpower.’ to match up with movement updates.
Balance Updates
Slight increase to standard fight difficulty + boss health to compensate for movement buffs.
Farewell to Summer Discount
Summer is again turning to Autumn and we'll all be seeing less of the sun and staying indoors more and more over the next few months.
Though some things are returning to normal, everything is a bit unpredictable right now, so please stay sensible and safe over the off-season.
Whenever you can, stay home and curl up with a good game!

Trials of Fire Limited Resources Update (v0.66) Release Notes
Good afternoon all,
This week's update is now just an update to how many of the movement cards function in game. Some other changes have moved into the beta branch if you'd like to check them out, but they're not quite ready for live yet.
Let’s dive into them, but as always, please let us know what you think of the changes on Discord!
Big Changes
Movement Changes
Most movement cards have had their movement reduced but provide 1 Willpower when played (effectively making them freebies).
Hopefully, this will make movement cards a lot more valuable in your deck.
Also, reducing the overall movement speed a bit should help to make high movement cards more valuable and slow down early game enemy rushes a bit.
Other Changes
‘Inspired’ – Increased damage boost to +2 to round out the Warlord’s support options a bit.
Card Changes
Check them out in game.

Trials of Fire Weekly Update (v0.61) Release Notes
LEADERBOARD WARNING: Steam Leaderboards will be in 7 days’ time (31st July).
Good afternoon all,
This week’s update has a few significant mechanics changes to last week’s major update, as well as some balance and UI improvements (a lot of which came suggestions on our Discord community).
As always, let us know what you think on Discord!
Power Changes
Characters are now limited to 3 active powers at once.
However, when playing a 4th power (and discarding an active power), the team is refunded 1 Willpower point.
While I like the effect the 0.6 power changes are having on the types of strategies possible, it’s a bit too tempting right now to pile everything on one Hero. I will monitor what effect this has on play over the coming weeks.
Meditation Changes
Meditation can now only be used to upgrade class cards, not remove them.
The ability to remove cards freely has proven a bit too powerful in longer runs. I still like giving the player options, so I continue to investigate ways to allow the player to customise their deck further.
Witch Changes
Stolen cards will now always be un-Upgraded unless otherwise stated.
This change prevents the Witch Hero from scaling up with the Cataclysm level. (Like all other classes).
Combat Run
Combat run is now re-enabled.
Legendary Changes
Dragonwing Bracers – Updated passive to, ‘The first BASIC and ACTION card played each turn that doesn't deal damage cost 0 WP.’
Content Updates
1 new enemy type.
2 new Legendaries to discover.
UI Updates
Players can now preview the effects of upgraded cards at any point when not in battle.
You can hide the ‘Select Card’ UI when selecting cards to create/draw/discard so you can review the battlefield.
Balance Changes
‘Planar’ – Reduced HP a bit and removed the ‘Gravity Vortex’ card from her deck.
Slight reduction in HP to top tier bosses (Red Dragon, Lurker + Giant Worm)
Trials of Fire Power Creep Update
Trials of Fire Power Creep Update (v0.60) Release Notes (English version only).
Good afternoon all,
WE’RE BACK!
This update focusses on replayability by further differentiating the Hero Classes and giving the player more ways to tweak and customise their loadout as you progress through each adventure.
There are lot of changes to get through in this update, so buckle up.
As always, let us know what you think on Discord. On with the changes….
IMPORTANT: Leaderboard Warning
Once we’ve got in a bit of balance data on the changes from the community, we will be doing a reset on all leaderboards to reflect the updated mechanics.
The plan is to do this in 2 weeks from today (on 31st July). Will post an update if anything changes.
Big Changes
Talents
Each Hero now has a unique Talent which replaces the Soul Scarred talent from previous versions. A Talent is a once per turn ability that is triggered under certain conditions.
Mouse over a Hero to view their Talent description and try to make the most of the Talents every turn!
Power Cards
Power cards can now be played on any Hero and not just the Hero that brings them into battle. Use this to your advantage to protect or buff specific Heroes and try out new combinations of abilities.
Line of Sight and Movement
Friendly characters no longer block movement or Line of Sight for ranged attacks. This gives a bit more room to manoeuvre and position without blocking off your other Heroes.
You can also preview Line of Sight to any space by holding down Alt or the Right Mouse button on the arena.
Yellow: Any character standing in this space can see.
Green: Only friendly characters standing in this space can see. (Blocked by friendly.)
Red: Only enemy characters standing in this space can see. (Blocked by enemy.)
Upgradable Cards
Many cards in you deck can now be upgraded to make them even more effective.
All item + class cards (Basic, Action, Power, Summon and Heroic) are upgradeable through a few new methods.
Levelling Up
When levelling up a Hero, you will now have the option to upgrade a card in your deck rather than swapping in an advanced card.
Both Basic and Advanced cards can be upgraded so there are always options to improve your deck when levelling!
Beware, though, you no longer gain any Health when levelling up.
Camping Changes
When camping, you can now use the crafting materials you find to upgrade your items – along with all their Skill Cards.
In addition to healing injuries, Mystic Herbs can now be Meditate to either upgrade or remove a card from one of your Heroes’ decks. Find them in towns and forest areas to help refine your deck.
Crafting items directly is no longer available.
Content Updates
2 new item types have been added, Dagger & Robe, to further differentiate the classes a bit.
Full review on in-game text to edit and abbreviate. Get into the action more quickly.
All the lore is still there in hyperlinks/mission briefs for those who wish to dive in.
Endless Odyssey now presents a whole new challenge.
Once you have run through all the standard boss tiers, you will start encountering multiple bosses at each objective!
See how far you can progress.
Combat Run is currently disabled whilst I incorporate the new progress/camping mechanics.
Should be back up and running in next week’s update.
Other Changes
You can now Fast-Forward the enemy turn by holding down [Ctrl] when they are playing.
All Side Quests now grant a Level Up upon completion in addition to any other reward.
Updated Burning Effect to, ‘Suffer 2 Status Damage at the end of your turn or whenever you suffer Magic Damage,’ to make it more interactive.
Cataclysm Difficulty Updates
If you’ve got this far then you are one of the hardcore so this is for you!
Cataclysm 1: All enemies gain +15% health.
Cataclysm 2: Enemy team gets +1 WP every turn.
Cataclysm 3: 50% of Bosses' cards are upgraded.
Cataclysm 4: Less health regained from resting and consuming food.
Cataclysm 5: 50% of Elites' cards are upgraded.
Cataclysm 6: Bosses gain an additional +35% health.
Cataclysm 7: 50% Standard enemies' cards are upgraded.
Cataclysm 8: Bosses draw 1 additional card every turn.
Cataclysm 9: All enemies gain an additional +20% health.
Cataclysm 10: All Bosses' and Elites' cards are upgraded.
