This week’s update features some UI updates, a new boss to discover and some subtle, but important changes to the Hunter Hero.

Trials of Fire v0.73 Release Notes
Good afternoon all,
This week’s update contains some fun changes to get your heads around. We have been focusing on allowing players to play the game as they want. Also increased the damage output of the Alchemist class to enable them to work as a very effective (if sometimes unpredictable) damage dealer, including a major change to the way Acid works.
Hope you enjoy the changes, and as always, please let us know what you think on Discord!
Thanks.
Quest Changes
Modifiers for All
You can now apply gameplay modifiers to any quest, not just Custom Quest.
Note, adding modifiers will mean the run is not eligible for Achievements or Steam Leaderboards.
Named Effect Changes

Acid effect is now, ‘Whenever Acid is inflicted, deal 1 Status Damage per stack of Acid on the target.’
Some acid effects have been reduced in effectiveness or increased in cost (see below).

Trials of Fire Spirit Weekly Update (0.72) Release Notes
Good afternoon all,
Just a small, balance update this week following last week’s new quest.
From now until the end of 2020, we will be focusing on balance and tweaks to existing content and saving a lot of the new content (story, heroes etc) until the lead up to the 1.0 release early in 2021. (There will be a few surprises for 2020 though … :) )
Finally, I’d like to say a big thanks to everyone who has taken the time to review the game on Steam, pushing us up to Overwhelmingly Positive on the Steam store. I don’t know how much difference it makes in the big picture, but it means so much to very small devs like us to know that people our out their enjoying the game so much.
Thank you! Adam

Trials of Fire Spirit Weekly Update (0.71) Release Notes
Good evening all,
Sorry for the slight delay. This week’s update comes with a new playable quest.
This branching quest allows you to choose your next objective at each stage so you can choose the next challenge to take on based on how your party is developing.
Also a change to how the way Power cards work in game.
As always, let us know what you think of the changes on Discord.
New Quest Cursed Sonata
Race to recover the one thing that can save your dying comrades.
A branching quest where you can pick the next challenge.
Major Changes
Powers
This week’s update contains a change to how Powers work. This change is to reduce the effectiveness of stacking too many Powers onto one Hero, but also introduces more flexibility and makes early Powers a bit easier to hold onto.
Increased Power limit to 4 per Hero.
Increased Power Resilience for all Powers.
When a character takes damage, ALL active Power cards take damage, rather than just the oldest.
Card Changes
Alertness+ - Updated effect to, ‘Draw 3 cards. Shuffle 1 card from hand back into your deck.’
Sprint+ - Updated effect to, ‘Move 5 then draw 2 cards. Shuffle 1 card from hand back into your deck.’

Trials of Fire Spirit Weekly Update (0.70) Release Notes
Good afternoon all,
Forget everything you know! This week’s update comes with a bit of an overhaul of a lot of the standard combat encounters in game.
These changes are to introduce more variety in enemy types and tactics, so each fight feels like a distinct challenge.
As always, let us know what you think of the changes on Discord.
Humanoid Enemy Update
This week’s update contains a bit of an overhaul of the humanoid combat encounters in the game (Human, Ratling, Hybrid, Charred and Bandit).
New enemy types.
More variety in enemy composition, cards and behaviours.
The goal is to have each enemy encounter feel different, based on who you are fighting and your progress through the adventure.
Most of the humanoid enemy types have changed in some way. I won’t go into all the details here, but rather some highlights you should be aware of:
Human Shaman – No longer an Elite, so no passive, but can appear in greater numbers!
Ratling Sorcerer – Passive ability is now, ‘Swarm Leader: All other Enemy units gain +2 Defence at the start of their turn.’
Card Changes
‘Shared Strength’ – Effect now only triggers on Heroes who have played 3 or more cards (up from 2). Upgraded card is the old base effect.
‘Battle Ready’ – Upgraded version of this card now only produces 2 cards for each Hero, but cost is reduced to 2.
‘Sun Fire’ – Reduced base damage to 9 (from 10) and upgraded damage to 12 (from 14). This is mainly because magic damage has gotten a bit of a stealth buff with some of the new enemy types/behaviours.
