📹 Animated GIF Support for Workshop is OUT NOW! 📹
Hello Tricksters!
Today's update to Trivia Tricks brings animated GIF support to the user-created question packs that are delivered through the Steam Workshop!
Linking to GIFs is the same as any other image question, meaning creating “video” questions couldn't possibly be easier!
If you're looking for the perfect category to compliment your next trivia night then do check out the fantastic content players have been creating in the Steam Workshop. Interested in creating a pack yourself? The Official Creator Guide will help you get started (anyone can do it)!
We cannot wait to see what sort of packs our community will create with GIF support! To celebrate, Trivia Tricks is on sale with a historic post-launch discount. This is an awesome time to upgrade from Friend Pass to the full game, or to gift the game to a friend and support future development!
Added support for GIF, MP4, and WebP formats for Steam Workshop packs.
When creating or updating a Workshop pack, Trivia Tricks will now validate that all images in the pack can load and that they are under 5MB in size. This will help creators find problematic images in their packs.
Games will now start faster, as Trivia Tricks no longer needs to download all images that will be used in that game before it begins.
The thumbnails for Workshop packs in the Categories Menu now download significantly faster.
Fixed an issue where creating new Workshop Packs could result in the creation of several identical packs.
Fixed a bug where the notification suggesting that players using the mouse should instead use the WASD keys would not always appear when it should with certain combinations of local players, or would dismiss before the player had answered with the WASD keys.
Fixed an issue where MP4s would pause on the first frame for several seconds when they were first loaded in the Workshop Preview menu.

🔮 Item Tweaks & Bug Fixes! 🐛
Hey Tricksters!
Trivia Tricks' 63rd regular update goes live today, containing quality-of-life improvements across several areas of the game!
Look forward to our next release, which will update every category with new questions, relevant to the events of 2024.
AI players will now decide whether to use items earlier in the round to ensure items such as the Crystal Ball are used correctly and mirror human behaviour.
AI players will be more likely to use their items the longer they hold them for. This will make games with AI players more interesting with more happening during the game.
The ready timer will no longer begin counting down if the host hasn't readied up. This stops games from accidentally starting while the host is still changing settings.
Improved the uniqueness of item spawns during Chance Round to diversify which items are seen during a game.
Added text under the 'Visible Answers' and 'Change Answer' options in the lobby to better explain their usage.
In the Character Creator, the ‘Save Character’ menu has been renamed to ‘Overwrite who’ for extra clarity.
Improved the wording and ordering for the Windowed settings in the Settings Menu to better promote 'Borderless Fullscreen', and describe 'Exclusive Fullscreen'.
The Space and Summer stages have been optimized slightly to fix performance hitches.
Fixed a crash that could occur if the player entered a gamepad input on a certain frame while joining an online game.
Fixed the Golden Pants' sparkle not sparkling enough!
Fixed a visual error in the Twitch Latency menu.
Fixed a visual error displaying a placeholder question on the TV when joining a game.
Fixed the Tab Menu not respecting the player's aspect ratio correctly.
Tweaks to a few of Mr. Tricks’ lines after Chance Round has finished.

🚀🌌 Get Ready for Launch! Trivia Tricks v1.0 is Here! 🌕🌠
Tricksters, get ready for takeoff!
Trivia Tricks is graduating from Early Access and we're launching into version 1.0 with some shiny new features! Let's check them out!
Fitting the 'launch' theme, how about a brand new Space Stage!? Take to the stars, land on a moon and do a little trivia. Very casual!
How about some new challenges? Complete SEVEN new achievements and receive brand new cosmetics for your efforts! Hop to it and get that Froggy Hat!
Setting up Twitch Integration just got easier! Use the new 'Connection Test' feature to measure the length of your stream delay so you can set your Answering Time to a pace that works for your community! When playing with Twitch every question lasts the full Answering Time, so this will help keep the game moving!
Not naming names, but some players fail to notice the option to join Chance Round. Oops! A little embarrassing but we've got them covered! The prompt to opt in or out is now shown front and center. Surely there's no more excuses for skipping Chance Round now, right?... RIGHT??
This update brings over 200 more questions to the base game, including picture questions in the Geography and Art & Literature categories!
Trivia Tricks has received constant improvements for 4 years and we have met all of our Early Access milestones – and then some! We're proud of what we've achieved in that time and we’re thrilled with the positive player reception we’ve received. Now felt like the right time to lift the Early Access label.
But this doesn't mean we're done! We're committed to supporting Trivia Tricks for as long as possible. We're already preparing our Question Database for '2024 in Trivia' alongside reviewing the possibility of bringing Trivia Tricks to other platforms. If you have a killer-feature you'd want to see added join the Official Discord and let us know!
Here are the full patch notes for this update:
To celebrate the launch of Trivia Tricks, a new stage has been added! Where? In Space!
Enjoy the new music which accompanies the Space Stage!
The 'Frequent Flyer' achievement has been updated to require the Space stage to be played at least once (if you have already unlocked 'Frequent Flyer', then you will keep the achievement).
Seven new achievements have been added, each with their own unlockable cosmetic! Can you unlock them all?
This includes the ultimate challenge ‘Gilded Genius’, which unlocks the coveted 'Golden Pants'.
Over 200 new questions have been added!
Picture questions have been added to the Geography and Art & Literature base game categories!
Fixed some typos and cleaned up the wording on a variety of questions. Thanks to all of you who took the time to report these to us directly!
A new tool has been added for streamers to test their connections and to measure their exact stream delay.
Based on the measured stream delay, Trivia Tricks will suggest an appropriate Answering Time! This is useful as, when playing with Twitch, every question lasts the full selected answering length.
Several bug fixes and UI improvements have been made to the Twitch menus.
The ordering in the Character Creator has been updated. Any unlocked cosmetics will now appear at the start of the list, with locked cosmetics being at the end.
Workshop pack visibility can now be set to ‘Unlisted’ when packs are being created or updated.
The notification that appears when restarting a lobby now clearly states that the restart will occur after the current question or Chance Round has finished.
The ‘Tame’ Chance Round setting has been renamed to ‘No Items’ to clearly convey what the setting adjusts.
To improve loading times in the Workshop Statistics menu the rating information is now placed behind a confirmation.
Removed the "Trying to add players?" message that would appear in the lobby when using a different control method than originally connected in the Character Select screen.
Added in a specific error message when trying to preview, create or update a Workshop file that ends in a “)” character.
Menus across Trivia Tricks have been updated and standardized to use our latest UI elements.
Now that pants are no longer “coming soon”, we’ve updated the posters that are visible in the Character Creator!
Fixed an issue where a client leaving the lobby at the ‘Caching’ step would cause the caching to never complete, meaning hosts would have to close and recreate the lobby.
Fixed a bug where, if a player cancelled downloading picture questions, after the game reloaded the lobby music wouldn’t play.
Fixed a bug where the Update menu would only display a maximum of 50 Workshop packs.
Fixed some character dialogue issues where characters would quickly change their portrait after they began speaking, and better synchronized animations to the on-screen text.
Fixed a bug where the image of a picture question would sometimes appear in the middle of the screen for a single frame after the answer had been revealed.
Fixed a bug where, when the images of picture questions were being downloaded, the progress bars that show download progress would only say "Complete!" when all players had finished their downloads.
Fixed a bug where the last player to ready up wouldn't be shown as ‘ready’ while Workshop packs load.
Fixed a bug where, if a player joined during the intro, the game would tell the player that they will join after the host is finished downloading picture questions, even if the host wasn't downloading picture questions.
Fixed a bug where, when joining a game during “Question 1”, the screen would say players are currently answering "Question 0”.
Fixed an issue where the 'Trending Workshop' carousel on the Main Menu would change its size as it was being navigated.
Fixed some of the lobby setting tick boxes having an incorrect aspect ratio.
Fixed some missing sound effects in the Workshop and Character Creator menus.
Fixed a bug where the blur behind the Pause menu wouldn’t always cover everything on the screen.
Fixed a bug where the “Speed Bonus is turned off when playing with Twitch” notification would appear during the picture question consent screen, as opposed to during Mr. Tricks’ intro.
Fixed a bug where client player answers weren’t hidden when playing with Twitch for specific question types.
Fixed a bug where, if a player who was not the host used the Crystal Ball item, they wouldn't be able to see other player answers unless another player answered after they used the Crystal Ball.
Fixed a bug where Mr. Tricks would lose his Lei during the Summer Splash event if someone joined midgame.
Fixed an issue where Tricksters wearing the Flamingo Floatie could sit in certain positions on the Main Menu that would cause the Floatie to clip through their head.
