Trombone Champ

Open Playtest Week is now closed!

Huge thanks to everyone who participated in the playtest throughout the week! The response was much bigger than we anticipated and we're extremely grateful! Needless to say, we have more than enough feedback to keep us busy until release, so we're taking down the open playtest.

The full game will launch with >20 songs, and these are already built, so it shouldn't take long to finish the final game! Our steps from here:

  • Reach out to everyone who playtested and requested to be listed in the credits (check your email!).
  • Make improvements and additions based on the most-commonly reported feedback, focusing on the ones that will make the biggest impact.
  • Release the full game!! Ideally soon so people don't forget about it!!
  • Continue to update and enhance! We will definitely patch in more songs & more features over time. There's a lot we want to do!

Thanks again for your involvement, and see you again soon!

0.80 is live!

Hello everyone! We've been reading your feedback and have a boatload of little fixes and improvements to implement. But, for right now, we're focusing on the ones that seem to drive people craziest.

IMPROVEMENTS

  • During gameplay only, you can no longer accidentally click outside the window and pause the game. The cursor should be locked within the window during gameplay and unlocked when gameplay ends.
  • Caps the framerate when the game launches; previously would run "as fast as possible" until reaching the gameplay scene.
  • Max framerate increased, was previously capped at 60fps. Temporarily boosted to 120fps until I do more research on this.
  • Slightly easier to get S rank.
  • Scoring system slightly updated behind the scenes to accommodate other fixes.

BUGS

  • 1440p is now "2560×1440" instead of "2650x1440." This was just a typo, but due to this typo, the game might have actually been running at 2650 width for people who chose this option. Apologies!

OPEN PLAYTEST THIS WEEK!

This week, anyone will be able to try out the Trombone Champ Playtest! There are a still a number of small things we want to implement before the official release, but we're ready to release the playtest to a larger audience.

Last month, we released the playtest to a very small set of users, and they submitted tons of useful notes, bugs, and feedback. All of the critical stuff has (seemingly!!) been resolved, and the game is ready for a larger audience.

The playtest is basically the full game, except with a very limited number of tracks. The official game will launch with over 20, but the playtest has 6.

You can find, experience, and play through the game's full storyline in this playtest, but we highly recommend waiting until the full game comes out before going too far! Otherwise, you'll need to play these six tracks a million times, which will probably get boring. But if you really want to do that, we're not going to stop you!

We hope you enjoy this taste of Trombone Champ! Please feel free to make videos, take screenshots, livestream, etc, to your heart's content. In fact, yes! Please share your experiences with others! Spread the word!

Thank you so much!
