Ultimate Admiral: Age of Sail released!

We are excited to announce that Ultimate Admiral: Age of Sail has been fully released on Steam!

The game has come a long way since the early concept, the first baсker build and the period of Steam Early Access. We always wanted to create a hardcore tactical strategy game about naval battles that did not exist before. This is why we focused greatly on the development of very realistic sailing mechanics, a detailed damage model and the making of beautiful and historically correct ships.

In order to convey the complexity of managing a single sail ship or even a whole fleet, we added officers with various tasks on ship, simulating their true historical roles.

All the important weapons of the historical period and a vast technology upgrade system are featured in the game, offering a historically accurate and complete customization for all ships.

We have deeply researched a lot of historical sources and worked hard to finally provide to you “Ultimate Admiral: Age of Sail”, a game which will travel you in the time of the American War of Independence and immerse you not only with epic and realistic naval battles but also test your skills in engaging landing operations.

Thanks to your support and feedback, we were able to improve various mechanics, add extra content and fix thousands of bugs. The game may still contain a few more bugs that we plan to fix as your reports arrive.

Thank you again for your support!

v0.10.23 RC rev.37324

Release Candidate

We are very happy to announce that Ultimate Admiral: Age of Sail is almost released. After a year in Early Access, our game is ready for new voyages in the high seas, seeking adventures, fame, and glory! With the support of our amazing community, we're proud to present a truly unique naval wargame experience with realistic naval combat and sailing physics, a detailed damage model, historical ship models, and weapons. Ultimate Admiral: Age of Sail offers the best of the Ultimate Series AI and tactical engine in naval, land, and combined arms landing operations.

It has been a long road to release, full of hard working, completing the initially planned content, and solving technical issues. We didn't stick always with our initial plans during this EA. Our dynamically active community offered us valuable and encouraging feedback with numerous observations and requests. Many changes and new additions were made based on this live relation between our team and fans.

One such major change was the rework of the AI Adaption system. Our initial attempt for challenging naval battles produced difficulty spikes in the campaign for some of the players. We applied a series of changes to Adaption to eliminate this issue and offer a smoother campaign progression. Additionally, to avoid some spotted confusion with player initial choices of the campaign options, the Adaptation mode became optional and the Classic one the default. Furthermore, a new option added before each naval battle, allowing players to change the difficulty for an easier or a harder one but better rewarded.

On the other hand, a common positive comment we got, about the fan many players had using lower rate ships and frigates, led us to add in the Classic mode a limitation in the use of large Ships of the Line by the AI early in the campaign. This change resulted in an increase in the number of possible battles with frigates and smaller ships.

Although we had initially decided not to make a saving system during the battle, our fans left us no other choice but to create one. Our talented programmers bypassed all technical limitations and added the option for unlimited saves during battles.

The initial US campaign included some battles from the period of the Barbary Wars. Some comments that this part did not fit well with the rest of the US campaign, led to the creation of the Barbary Wars DLC. We replaced that part of the US campaign with the "European Voyage" chapter which takes place in the seas of the United Kingdom. We took the cut part and added 4x additional content creating the Barbary Wars DLC. The DLC was offered for free to all our fans who supported us during the EA!

It is really countless the list of changes we've did during the EA. There were improvements to naval AI for better and more intelligent ship maneuvers, a full rework of the soldier movement mechanics for smoother and more realistic animations and behavior, improved physical-based LOS, introduced real ballistics, improvements in UI and HUD and so many more, to ensure that the game has the level of quality and polish that our fans expect.

We would like to thank everyone who followed us on social media and supported our efforts from the first closed beta, the Backer build, the Early Access, and helped our team make this game better!
