This demo features the reworked opening section of the game. The story starts with Void's attempt to reach the city of Archaban and collect the six seals. Derailed by a devastating cataclysm of unknown nature, his interdimensional travel goes awry. We won't spoil much so that you can see everything by yourselves.
Live Stream: Final Version Preview with the Developers
Hello, Heralds!
Laughing Machines here. The Steam Next Fest is starting in an hour, so we want to invite you to join our Developer Live Stream where we will be playing the final version of Undungeon.
The stream starts at 10 am PDT / 5 pm GMT. Set your reminders!
We know that all of you are eagerly anticipating the launch day. And, of course, so are we. Everyone on our team absolutely cannot wait to bring you the final product and see the reaction of our community. At the same time, shipping an unfinished game, as well as making our team members crunch, is not an option for Laughing Machines. Therefore, we made a decision to delay the release of Undungeon.
Instead of this year's second quarter, the game will come out this fall.
The development of Undungeon has been a fascinating yet extremely challenging process. Currently our team is finally approaching the finish line. We are putting all the gameplay systems together while at the same time polishing some of them, such as the combat and level up systems. Story arcs are also being finalized.
We would like to, as always, thank you for your continuous support. However clichéd it may sound, we really, really appreciate it. There wouldn’t be Undungeon without all of you.
THE SHIFT IS COMING!
Yours truly,
Procurus' Guide: Machinery (Part 2)
— Greetings, Herald!
Procurus here.
The last time we spoke, I provided information on pre-Shift technology along with some video footage that you might find useful. Today I have even more footage for you—a group of H.U.B. technicians managed to capture those machines on video during operation!
Let me, as I always do, address this in greater detail.
■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■
~ UTILIZER ~
As I already told you the previous time, this one is capable of recycling any useless organic matter and organs that you collect, providing you with essence.
■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■
~ TRANSFUSER ~
Transfusers store extra essence that you gather in your inventory for later use. These machines, as you may recall, can also turn water into essence. The proportion is 1:2.
■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■
~ OMNIMAT ~
An omnimat is essentially a next tier assembler. Unlike common assemblers, it can help you craft gear. Used for reconditioning gear for essence and provides Heralds with healing items, throwables and explosives.
■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■
~ BIOMAT ~
Biomats are complex machines that use organic matter to create organs. These organs can be later implanted in your body to grant you powerful abilities.
■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■
Herald, I'm receiving a priority transmission. I must leave you now.
Merely a quick note: our research scientists managed to make some sketches and even actual pictures of the native peoples of the Q Dimension (or "The Wastelands", as the local nomads call it). Sharing those with you right away.
■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■
~ TRIBESMEN [SKETCHES AND ACTUAL FOOTAGE] ~
■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■
~ JUNKYARD KING ~
This…individual, so to speak, seems to be particularly dangerous. Caution is advised.
■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■
~ NOMADS ~
These are pictures of the Q Dimention's nomadic tribes' representatives that we have been able to identify:
■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■
That's all I have got so far. I don't wish to keep you for longer, Herald.
I have just finished an important research related to your future mission. Do you know your way around junk, herald? Well, I hope you do because your mission will require a lot of pre-Shift machine handling. Here, let me provide an example:
Ah, you look impressed! And confused at the same time, my friend. Worry not—I will most certainly share all the details I have managed to obtain about these intricate mechanisms. Shall we start?
■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■
~ ASSEMBLER ~
We actually have one of these in the H.U.B., so you will have a chance to play around with this elegant-looking fellow a little. Its purpose? Oh, just three very simple things: repair, upgrading and crafting.
You will be able to recondition your gear for essence. As for upgrading, assembler combines two identical Subtech items (weapons, for instance) to create a more powerful item of that type.
Oh…You are still not aware of the Subtech/Architech item tiers. What a terrible oversight from my side! Allow me to make amends.
Subtech items are your regular gear that can grant you certain abilities. Subtech can break without maintenance, mind you. Such items are obtained by completing assignments, found or purchased from merchants.
Liquidator Mask
Architech items are extremely rare, Herald. These come into your possession only by crafting or after finishing important quests. If you gather essence while wielding an Architech weapon, it becomes more powerful. That, in turn, allows you to unlock extra slots for enhancement nodes that can be installed in your gear. If multiple Architechs are equipped, collected essence is distributed between all items of the Architech tier that you are carrying. Be careful, Herald! Should you die, all of your Architech item amplifications are reset. Slots, however, remain. That's a slight relief, I agree.
Pteryx Archaat
Assemblers can be used for crafting purposes—to provide yourself with healing items, throwables and explosives.
■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■
~ DECONSTRUCTOR ~
Deconstructors convert non-organic resources and items into essence. Metal parts are often more expensive, you should keep that in mind.
■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■
~ TRANSFUSER ~
Ah, these machines are quite useful! You can use them to store extra essence in your inventory for later use. Transfusers are also capable of turning water into essence in proportion 1:2. Pure magic, is it not?
■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■
~ UTILIZER ~
The last one for today, Herald. Utilizer recycles organic matter and organs, providing you with—essence, yes, you are absolutely right.
■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■
Well, that is all I have for you, my dear friend. I hope all this knowledge proves useful. I shall see you soon—I have got a lot on my plate, as they say.
We’re finishing our work on ranged weapons that will be wielded by Marduk.
Marduk, unlike Void, is a range-based herald. Controlling him revolves around managing his energy gauge. It fills when you deal damage to enemies (LMB to attack). Pressing, holding down and then releasing RMB eats that gauge and activates a special charged attack which is more powerful and usually has a bonus effect.
There will be several ranged weapon classes, and today we’re going to take a look at just two of them: “Automatic weapons” and “Rifles”. These terms are just placeholders—names are still being worked on.
Automatic weapon №1
Regular attack: shoots regular projectiles; Special attack: shoots 1 projectile that explodes upon contact, with the chance to apply Burn DoT effect.
Automatic weapon №2
Regular attack: shoots 2 projectiles; Special attack: a burst of multiple rapid shots.
Rifle №1
Regular attack: shoots one single projectile; Special attack: a powerful shot followed by a shrapnel blast. The shrapnel blast has a chance to apply the 100% chance critical hit damage modifier to enemies.
Rifle №2
Regular attack: shoots one single projectile; Special attack: shoots a projectile that can penetrate multiple targets at a great distance, applying the Trauma Bonus damage modifier.
---------------- Right now we are working on shotgun-type weapons that will function similarly to the 1st rifle’s special attack (powerful multi-projectile blasts).
Procurus' Guide: An excerpt from Fauna Compendium
— Greetings, Herald!
Procurus here.
We are just a couple of short months away from the start of your mission. The worlds you are about to visit are hostile, due in part to their fauna.
I took advantage of extra time I had in the H.U.B. and studied the updated multiversal bestiary (they call it Fauna Compendium, if we are to be precise). Here is a short illustrated excerpt I've prepared for you. You should familiarize yourself with this information, Herald—it may assist you and even save your life out there.
■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■
~ VINEGORUN ~
World of origin: The Wastelands Behavior: hostile
The aggressive nature of these arachnids is well-known among the tribes of the Wastelands. Vinegoruns are very territorial animals. Their ootheca—a natural source of water and nutrients—needs to stay on the surface to mature, which makes it a perfect target for other inhabitants of the Wastelands. Young vinegaroons do not pose much of a threat, but the pincers of an adult can easily reap a careless intruder into shreds. Some vinegoruns evolve into more toxic species that can be distinguished by their red carapace.
Fascinating fact: What makes vinegoruns particularly dangerous is their stin...[indecipherable]...thal injuries.
■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■
~ VOLADILE ~
World of origin: Lutenland Behavior: hostile
Voladiles are carnivorous reptiles that inhabit marshy areas. Their massive jaws, thick skin and heavy tail earned them a place at the top of the Lutenland food chain. Caution is advised: voladiles can execute sudden attacks from water and from underground.
Fascinating fact: members of this species are distant descendants of wild dogs from the Q-dimension.
■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■
~ SANDCRAWLER ~
World of origin: The Wastelands Behavior: docile
These giant protostomes are often domesticated by the tribesman of the Wastelands. Used primarily by long-distance commerce caravans and in tribe migration, sandcrawlers are exceptionally resilient and can carry tremendous weights.
Fascinating fact: the digestive system of a sandcrawler functions quite slowly. Smaller creatures it devours by accident can stay alive for months, feeding on whatever they can find in worm's enormous stomach.
■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■
~ GOOVER ~
World of origin: The Wastelands Behavior: docile/hostile towards outsiders
Goovers are mammals that nomads of the Wastelands domesticate for logistic and household needs. These herbivores possess a unique ability to collect water from the totally dry desert soil and store it in the reservoirs on their bodies.
Fascinating fact: plants of the Wastelands often use their sharp needles to extract water from goover's reservoirs, taking advantage of their docile attitude towards familiar flora and fauna.
■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■
~ GNATOR ~
World of origin: Lutenland Behavior: hostile
In the marshy wilderness of Lutenland, this insect is one of the deadliest arthropods one can possibly run into. To defend itself and its offspring, it uses melee and ranged attacks, also spawning extremely dangerous larvae. A gnator can carry and transfer various diseases, therefore extreme caution should be exercised.
Fascinating fact: gnators are mutated goovers.
■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■
That is about all the information I have been able to collect for you this time, Herald. If you excuse me now, I will leave you and, as always, attend to some pressing matters. No shortage of them lately, as you can see.
