Very soon it's Halloween, and Unepic will celebrate it including some funny "Halloween" items in the game.
So from Thursday 31th October to Sunday 2nd November you will find them at the end of levels 1 to 5 of Multiplayer.
They are:
- Pumpkin light: Unique light source that gives extra stats.
- Trick or Treat wand: Turns the head of any humanoid into pumpkins, and when killed they drop a candy that restores energy. The more humanoids, the more candies.
- Skeleton custom: Fool around with your friends looking like a skeleton.
- bouncing pumpkin: Invokes a bouncing pumpkin that hurts any enemy in its path.
- Skull ring: Unique ring that gives extra stats.
PowerPlay gives 6/10 ruining the MetaScore.
Hello guys,
PowerPlay is giving a 6 over 10 to Unepic. The MetaScore of Unepic is very lowered due to that note because there are only 5 notes: 80,75,70 and 70.
The final note passes from 73,5 to 68 :-(
This is the review:
http://www.pcpowerplay.com.au/2012/08/review-unepic/
They are complaining about:
- side-quests: they breaks up the exploration.
- combat: not engaging.
- automatic saving: does not help.
- player dies a lot.
- inventory: management is a nightmare
- humor: well, humour is very subjective. A lot of people hates Jim Carrey's humor.
All comments are refered to the "demo" zone: the traps and fecundation quests, the "orcs" (goblins of the mine), so that makes me suspect that the person who did the review just played a few, and did not even use any of the magic schools, or played all other side-quests of the game, or challenges, or multiplayer, etc.
Sumarising, I'm afraid that the wrong person voted the game, and his score is so important that is decreasing the score of Unepic that hundred of thousands of people are seeing in the Steam shop 5 points down (from 7,3 to 6,8).
I am going to write them asking to revise the review, or be it rewritten by someone who played further. Also will ask what side-quests they don't like, why inventory is a nightmare, tell them that there will be a "sort inventory" option in next patch, that there is a "salvation ring" available that tells you when the game is autosaved, and that there are tones of spells to have fun with.
The more comments disagreeing the review, the more strength to make them change their mind. So, if you are playing Unepic and you think that the note and the review is unfair, please leave a comment telling what you disagree:
pd: something curious: if you swap cyphers of metascore 6.8, you will obtain 8.6 that is the score of users.
Extra items & unepic credits
Hello!
Extra items have been finally included in the Steam version of Unepic.
They are a set of special items that are sold by Gualix, a goblin seller in the bottom/right room from the central box.
Instead of coins, these items are purchased using "unepic credits", that is a special currency earned by completing challenges.
This new currency is shown in the top bar next to the coins icon.
In the challenge section of the menĂº (menu > challenges) you will find how many "unepic credits" you can earn by completing them (only visible in those challenges that have been already discovered).
Once you complete a challenge, all your characters (the one you are playing with, the ones you have saved in the cloud, and the ones you may create in the future) will be rewarded with these "unepic credits". So the more challenges you complete, the more "unepic credits" will all your characters have.
This means that if you earn 100 unepic credits, all new characters will start with those 100 credits.
If you spend them purchasing a special item, only the current character will lose the "unepic credits" needed for that item. All other characters will keep untouched.
Finally, if you already completed challenges, you will automatically receive all corresponding "unepic credits".
Well folks, hope you enjoy them!

Seeing that LAG is an important problem, I am working in a new way of communication to prevent big lags.
It is not yet implemented but we can see how much lag it will produce and, therefore, see if it worths or not.
While playing, in the TOP-LEFT corner there will be 2 lag numbers (instead of 1).
TOP - It is the current lag with the current system.
BOTTOM - it is the lag with the new system. This one should be equal or smaller than the current one.
If you have problems of lag with your friends, please test it, examine both lag figures, compare them and explain here what do you see. Is the second lag constant?
Have in mind that only Clients can see their lag.
I keep waiting your reports.

Casting IS NOW CLOSED. It's time to go a step forward and decide who will give their voices.

The dubbing will take place in September and October and will be paid.
If you are interested, you have some dubbing background and you are technically prepared to record clean sound, please send me an email to "unepicgame[at]gmail.com" and I will send you the material needed for the casting.

So if you are interested in having a look to texts in non-English languages before their release, please send me an email to unepicgame_gmail_com.

Steam Keys
Hello all,
Steam Keys are given to all those people who suported Unepic in the past and purchased Unepic before it was released in Steam, so they can play the game in Steam without purchasing the game again.
Now that the game was released in Steam, if a new player (that still has not purchased Unepic) wants to play the game in Steam, he will have two options: to purchase the game directly in Steam or in the official web of Unepic (www.unepicgame.com).
No Steam Keys will be given to new players that purchase Unepic in other shops out of Steam or the official web after the 26th of June.
Steam Keys are obtained in the "my zone" section of the official web of Unepic: www.unepicgame.com
No P2W, no real money
Hello all,
Looks like there is missinformation about Unepic and spending extra real money. Let's clarify it:
First of all, unepic is NOT and has never been a P2W (Pay to Win) game. This is totally false.
In the Steam version it is not possible to spend real money. The only that costs real money is the game itself.
All these hearsays about real money came because there is an option in the official web of unepic to purchase credits using real money. As usual, talking is easier than investigating or asking.
In non-steam versions, when someone completes a challenge in the game (there are 15 hidden challenges), you earn "unepic credits" that can be exchanged by special items. These special items are just to have fun and have special stats, but never needed to finish the game, like the "Austin Power's English suit", a "Stormtrooper plastic armor", the Enterprise pet, a ring that tells you when the game has been saved, and a lot more.
Like other extra contents like the multiplayer mode, HD support, dubbings, steamKeys and much others, this feature was done as a gift to people, asking no extra charge.
After this feature was released, a few people asked if they could obtain those credits using real money instead of completing the challenges within the game, so I included this option in the web.
In the future I will implement these "Unepic credits" earned by doing challenges that are already available, and a vendor to get extra items.
Concerning using real money in Steam in the future, if I do it, it will be always to obtain funny things and never needed to play the game normally.
