Unoffensible

Technical Update (version 0.0.45)

Sometimes an update is needed to make sure the game can be the best at launch. This was one of those painful updates. There are some (minor) bugs that I will just ignore for now, but for the most part the game runs the same as the previous version.

To note:
- The entire game should still be playable without crashes or critical issues.
- The new physics engine does not like stacking towers. So stacks might slide, rotate or do other unexpected things. There is a paid solution to this, but for the playtest phase we will have to do with a less optimal solution.
- Sometimes there are some visual artifacts, still investigating what triggers these.

Update some visuals

- Change the turrets and cooldowns
- Scale objectives with distance for better visibility

Before recording the new trailer some of the left over old graphics where updated, so this build includes those.

Building building (version 0.0.43)

- Build options are now spread out over multiple buildings
- new buildings added (Miner Building, Combat Building)
- Different Buildings unlock different build options.

- Visual : Gun/AntiProjectile Turrets now have details, similar to the buildings

Small update to Objective UI (V 0.0.41)

- Objective UI is now triggered by a 'Hand hover' interaction.
- Objective UI is smaller
- Objective UI will play audio during animation stages

Shop visuals improvement (Version 0.0.40)

- Resources are now displayed with more consistent design.
- Buildings are placed with a rainbow-holo-beam, replacing the smoke flare.

Update in game objective markers (V0.0.39)

Its not much, but it took more time than what would ideally be the case. There will be some more changes to this objective marker.

The goal is to redo the trailer and screenshots... so all 'placeholder visuals' will be replaced by 'developer art' :-).

small graphics update - V0.0.38

- Towers now have details, which are also used to display Hitpoints

Bug fix + balancing - v0.0.37

- Crash during play fixed (related to the new basebuilding feature).
- Made first 2 levels have brighter terrain. (from player feedback)
- Changed Properties of towers to be more distinctive.
- Increased mining speed + more affected by other towers in the stack.
- Dropped the 4th resource (for now)
- increased RadarTower sight range (based on stack height)

Base Building Basics - Update V0.0.36

Base building has been upgraded. New buildings now need to be placed (free of charge) and are build over time, consuming resources over time.
Resource locations now also regenerate resources over time. With a fixed maximum capacity per resource.

This is just the first step. In the future it will all be more balanced.
-More specialized buildings.
-A builder tower that will be needed to build a building at a location.

Pico 4 steaming works

The pico 4 has just been released and it looks like an affordable headset with good specs (similar to Quest 2). Before this week I was only able to test Unoffensible on the Valve Index. I tried to setup all other headsets in Unity in a similar way in the hope that it would just work.
The pico 4 is the first time I tested this workflow, and I was pleasantly surprised the pico 4 worked right out of the box.
All buttons are mapped to the right inputs, and the tracking is mostly correct (maybe I'll change the angle of the controllers a little bit in the game... the Index knuckles give a nicer experience at this time).

I don't think this type of game lends itself for standalone headsets, maybe with the next XR2+++ chip... or other more powerful chips become available. So streaming quality is definitely something I will keep my eye on during development.

So if you have the pico 4, you can join the playtest and be sure it will work as expected. Here is a short video of my experience:
