Quick Igloo Bug Update

- Fixed an issue where creating igloos were freezing the server.

Animal Husbandry Research is Underway!



As I mentioned before, the addition of walls and enclosures was to prepare for adding Animal Husbandry to the game!

You will be able to find and tame animals in the game, and place them in enclosures where you can manage, harvest, and breed them! (For now it will be small animals, but perhaps you will be able to tame larger ones in the future :) ).


It is still a bit away from being finished, as there are many concepts to this, and I wish to add a new animal to the game for this update.

I will of course keep you posted!

Vantage v1.0.7 is Live! AI Pathfinding / Wall Blocking Overhaul!



After a *whole lot* of work, I have completed and released the overhaul to the AI pathfinding and AI/Blocking update. Animals now stop due to placed objects that block their path (fences and houses)!

PLEASE NOTE! In order for your existing fences to calculate as "AI blocking" objects, you must pick it up and Place/Drop the item into the world again. All newly created fences/houses will automatically be active of course. (I may automate this process for older objects in a later update).

That's right! You can now "wall off" your village from hostile animals, OR try to catch some in a fenced in area and keep them as your pets! And in new houses, animals should no longer walk through them anymore!

Also soon, I hope to make an animal for you that you can find in the world, pick up, and place them into a little corral to keep as your pets :) More on that hopefully soon!

This is also the first huge step to beginning to make an Animal Husbandry profession! Something I have wanting to do for a very long time! Now that you can keep animals confined within areas, this is now a possibility!

As of now, only new fences (and old ones that were picked up and placed into the world again), and newly created houses will have the wall blocking ability. I will explain this more in the patch notes here:

Update on AI Upgrades!



I thought I would give you an update on what I am working on with improving the animal AI.

I have been spending the past few weeks researching, developing, and testing advanced pathfinding algorithms that I can use to improve the movement and pathfinding for the AI in the game. The main reason for the algorithms? To make it so objects can keep animals from crossing them, like a fence wall. For example, you could keep an animal permanently within a completely walled area, (or keep them out, like a wall surrounding your village!).

The reason this takes so long is for many reasons. But the main one is testing for performance. There is going to need to be simulated data and many computations performed on that data which can of course affect performance. So a great deal of testing and prototyping must be done.

In the end, if everything I am planning to do works out with this. Animals can now be blocked by objects more effectively. They can be corralled, or kept away from areas. And the best part.. I could start to work on a profession I wanted to put in the game for a long time: Animal Husbandry!

Right now I am near the end of my prototyping/testing phase, then if everything is good, I can begin to actually start coding the system.

Crossing my fingers and hoping everything I want to do with this works out!
