Weekly Act 2 Development Livestreams

Starting this Saturday, I’m doing weekly livestreams while I work on Act 2! No massive spoilers or anything like that, just behind-the-scenes content and so much more!
Streams will be every Saturday at 11am MST over on the Costek Games Youtube Channel. After each stream, I’ll drop a devlog video recapping what got done in the livestream, as well as before/after! Lots of new content coming!

Venge 2.1 is OUT - The Final Act 1 Update

Venge 2.1 is out! This update brings a ton of new content, polish, and a brand new minigame, ACT 1 MADNESS.

Act 1 Madness


Act 1 Madness is the brand new minigame that features EVERY monster from Act 1, all attacking you, all at once. This minigame is extremely hard and will take a lot of practice to top the leaderboard. It can be unlocked once you beat Act 1!

Essentially, each boss has their own chamber. Inside of each chamber lives the monster and a snippet of their districts. Complete the chamber and collect their artifact to unlock the main gate to escape! However, once you beat a bosses' chamber they'll escape into the hub... which makes solving the other chambers more difficult!





Improved Real World


The real world has been massively improved, including a fancy new intro that sets the tone much better, and some dangerous mold to keep you on edge! Explore the story of what happened to the employees and Rotnic itself...





New Cartoonist Boss Fight


The cartoonist boss fight has been reworked to take way less time, down from about 1 hour to 30 minutes or less. The map is completely new and a lot smaller. There's now 4 entrances into the nest, with the cartoonist blocking each entrance off one by one as you play! This makes the boss fight way more interesting and much more fun.




Laserette Pacing Update


The laserette has seen a minor pacing update, which speeds up the player and allows for a much more fluid and fast experience!

CEO Puzzle Repacing


The "flipped falls and forgotten halls" scene has been cut down and repaced to be more enjoyable for newer players especially. The puzzle has been reworked and is now much faster with a more interesting cutscene!

New Sticky Notes


Every sticky note has been rewritten to be more interesting and about half of them have been cut, making the whole experience way less annoying. The new story is a bit more obvious lore wise too.

Tons of new secrets have been added

Real world cartoons!


Some real world cartoons have been added, which help Rotnic feel more believable and alive! 3 were made by me, 2 by other artists! (Xioanz and ???)

The Future


This makes the end of the 2.0 saga... I'll be taking a short break then I'll start Act 2 development again! I'm expecting itll be out next year! Thank you all so much for your love, support, and patience. Making this game has been such a journey, thank you!

Patch 2.09 (Last one!)

The last patch before the massive 2.1 update is out! Here is the list of things fixed:


  • All known softlocks have been fixed
  • Fixed the josh the rock artifact
  • Fixed a strange collision issue in desolate fields
  • Fixed a crash when entering the secret death hall
  • Fixed the secret daycare room bug
  • Fixed a softlock where grobernober will eat your power cell
  • 4 new bike controls have been given custom keybinds + proper controller support
  • Fixed some missing controller support issues
  • Fixed josh not working at all
  • Fixed items being teleported to you in the vents after cartoonist if you spared her
  • Fixed an issue where you were not able to get achievements from completing minigames (IM SO SORRY)
  • Fixed an issue where apon relaying Mission Abort, you'd have all of the task items needed.
  • Fixed a bug which caused the player to fall through the floor at the skeleban crusher
  • Fixed an issue with the alertenist continuing to be animated when the screaming stops
  • Implemented a new option on the coaster console to allow limiting the messages to the previous 1000.
  • Massive console speed improvements
  • Other issues I forgot


Venge 2.1 is next


Venge 2.1 will be a massive improvement to 2.1, including some awesome new stuff:

  • New 5th ending to the real world
  • Act 1 Madness
  • Sub-save loading (You can finally save your progress in cartoonist, then finish the next day)
  • New loading screens (this will fix 99% of game crashes)
  • New settings page (you'll be able to search / itll have more settings)
  • New artifacts and secrets
  • and SO MUCH MORE!

Patch 2.07

Another patch for ya, this one has a lot of fixes:

  • Fixed some confusion caused in the real world
  • Speed up all Act 1 loading times, especially when first loading the game
  • Fixes some helpsie bugs and softlocks
  • Fixed accessory artifacts not working
  • Added a reminder to notify players of the settings when they first start
  • Improved brightness when recording the game
  • Nerfed the laserette a bit, it should be easier now
  • Fixed some stange behaving story notes
  • Various other minor tweaks and polish

Patch 2.06

Hey everyone, I'm glad you're enjoying the game! Sorry about the softlocks earlier, they should be fixed!


  • Fixed the pinter elevator softlock where you'd fall out of the map
  • Fixed the pinter transport cutscene softlock
  • Rebalanced the pool puzzle to be harder to find (so its less distracting and confusing)
  • Fixed the black screen loading issue (i thought it was cute im sorry)
  • Sped up loading times across the board
  • Fixed the player loading into cartoonist somehow
  • Minor improvements

VENGE 2.0 IS OUT

Venge 2.0 is (BASICALLY) Done!

Hello all, thank you all so much for your support and patience, I come with exciting news!
Venge 2.0 is basically done! The gameplay is completed, the systems and ui are completed, all thats left is 2 minigames! I'll get into more details here, but if you want to skip the read, here's a video recapping the same information:


Efix 2.0


Efix has been completely remade and unlike the other bosses, has had new sections added! I heard a lot of feedback from a lot of you that efix was too short, so this should be much better! Thank you all for your feedback, positive and negative, it really helps me and the game out a ton! Here's some screenshots:





Skelebans 2.0


1.0 had skeletons, a boring generic monster with no personality (no offense), they weren't exactly unique. (I'm sure you can list 12 games with skeletons), so 2.0 has replaced them with SKELEBANS! Skelebans are venge-ified rotting corpses. The cool thing about these fellas is their models are randomly generated! There is about 2.4 MILLION combinations at the moment, with more to come! So assuming less than 2.4 million people play, every single skeleban you see will be 100% unique and never seen before, how cool!

Like efix, their 2nd chase has actually been made into a chase and is much more interesting! Here's some screenshots:







Minigames!


Minigames are a very forgettable part of 1.0, but I'm hoping 2.0 will change that! 2.0 Minigames focus on challenge, highscores and leaderboards, and difficulty! Each one has unique gameplay and they are a ton of fun! There are 7 in total:

Cartoonist Maze - STARTED
Hide and Seek - DONE
Helpsie's Duel - DONE
Skelebal Scare - DONE
Act 1 madness - NOT DONE

Other Information


Artifacts have been added, they are basically collectables on steroids. They can be items, inspectables, or even collectables themselves. You find them throughout your adventure and they are saved outside of the universes and will be a ton of fun to find and explore them all! Plus, some of them can even change your gameplay (like skins) and many give important lore clues to those who are interested!

Controller support is coming to 2.0, no longer will you have to make a janky mapping, itll be supported in house!

Commands are getting a lot better with functions, I'll be hopefully adding better scripting support, which basically means "modding" support. It's not a huge focus for 2.0, but it will be there for those who like to play around.

Release Date


I'm 95% confident on my release date, but it could change. Should I tell you... yea I just ya. I'm aiming for JULY 28TH, 2024! Venge's 4th anniversary!

The 2.0 update will be COMPLETELY free to anyone who already owns venge, thank you all so much for your support, especially if you have been here since the beginning, it really means a lot to me!

HUGE 2.0 Progress (w/ est release date) & Public Demo Overhaul Update!

Hello everyone, sorry again for the radio silence (I swear all of my posts start this way, I'm so sorry!) but I've got some REALLY exciting news for you all!

Public Demo Overhaul


Lets start with something you all can play, the public demo! I released a public demo for 2.0 a while ago but it had some big issues, I've fixed ALL of those issues and the update has been released! Below are steps to install. If you had a hard time playing the original public demo, give this one a shot! It's seriously so much better. (Thanks for all of the criticism on it, it really helped!)

Steps to install:

  1. Make sure you own venge
  2. Go to venge's steam page (in the library) and click the gear icon on the right
  3. Choose properties
  4. Go to the betas tab and select "public_demo"
  5. You're good to go! The update should start installing!









Cartoonist 2.0 has been COMPLETED!


While I haven't started beta testing cartoonist yet, the area is really cool and really expands her character and mechanics.


Laserette 2.0 has been COMPLETED and POLISHED!


This boss fight is super fun and his district is so complex and so pretty. His AI has been completely overhauled and the ending has been boosted as well, its really fun to play and explore, I really cannot convey how much of an overhaul these updates are, everything has been restarted from scratch, its basically a brand new game!

Additionally, I have finished the laserette hide and seek minigame! It is so much better now and has a steam highscore so you all can compete!

HELPSIE 2.0 has been COMPLETED and POLISHED!


Helpsie is DONE and by far my favorite. He is no longer annoying and his boss fight goes into depth about his character and we get a ton of really fun story beats! The helpsie is a complex character with complex feelings, but I shouldn't spoil. Only the first 3 minutes are "turn left, turn right", the rest is all completely new! It is honestly so cool!

Additionally, I have finished the helpsie's duel minigame and OMGG it is so fun. It is a 6 stage duel with bosses and the pop gun, its honestly a ton of fun. Plus it has a leaderboard, so you can compete for the highest score!






What's next?


Venge 2.0 is about 80% done. All thats left to do is Efix, Skelebans, and then the elevator finale. THATS IT! That being said, I'm aiming for an end of july release, THIS YEAR! Thats only like 4 months away!

After 2.0 is done, then I start working on Act 2 again! I'm aiming for December 2025, but that is REALLY an estimate.

Thank you all SOOO much for your support, even 4 years later. This game was/is made entirely by me (and only me) so I really do apologize for the slow pace, but I think 2.0 is really going to be something! Hopefully the demo is a ton of fun too! Now here's some awesome screenshots!

A New Game - All She Wants For Christmas Is YOU!

Hello everyone! For this holiday season, I took a small break from Venge to work on this new game called All She Wants For Christmas Is YOU! It is a horror game based on the idea that a christmas eve a demon from the deepest pits of the ice comes and haunts you! The game is really fun and will be out December 27th! The game is really fun and has a bunch of endings/secrets/lore, literally anything you could ever hope for out of a game like this, I love it!

What about Venge?


As you may or may not know, all of my games exist in the same universe, so Venge and this game share a story! This means when you play this game you'll learn some more about Venge's story and universe! There is even some overlapping characters. I think ya'll will really enjoy it! :D
