Versus v1.21 now live!

Hello everyone,

Version 1.21 is now live on Steam!

Here's what has been added since version 1.19:


  • You can now repair barricades during build phases!
    To do this, stand near a damaged barricade and repair will automatically kick in after 1 second.
    Repairs cost up to 90% of the cost of the item. For example if you repair a barricade that costs 500 new and it is 50% damaged, the repair will cost 225 coins. So repairing is a bit cheaper than rebuying the item, but it takes time

    Bonus: You can now also repair all types of sentry guns.

  • Increased the size of the Battlefield map by 20% and the Campsite map by 40% for those who like Run n Gunning.

  • Increased powerup drop rate by 10% during the first 30 minutes of a game. This will make a few achievements a little easier to hunt down.

  • For the M61, Mortar and Flamer Bosses: Increased their attack frequency by 25% but only if they are the only boss left on the map. There is no change when there are multiple bosses active.

  • Increased camera height by 5 meters (15 feet) so you can see more of the battlefield.

  • Frequency of money (coins) dropped increased by 20%. You should quickly be able to pick up 1000+ coins per wave and more in waves 10+.

  • Increased cooldown speed of regular sentry by 10%


Achievements:


  • Added 5 new achievements: Drone Strike, Burst, Serial Kill, Massacre and Intruder.


Multiplayer:

  • In on-line coop games, clients can now tell the host/server they are ready to begin the next wave by hitting Space or Left Trigger during a build phase. The host will see a 'READY!' indicator mark above the players who are ready.

  • The host/server now updates 30% faster which should reduce lag (enemies and the state of the game gets updated more often)

  • Decreased damage from the Flamethrower boss 30% and added a small delay so that you're less likely to get damaged when the flamethrower weapon is just starting up.

  • Armor of enemies is reduced by 10% which makes enemies a little easier to kill in online games.

Carrying a heavy SWAT shield, he takes almost no damage from frontal fire. This includes fire from sentry guns and ghosts!
Attacking him from the side or with explosives is effective as usual. He carries a USP 9mm which he will unload in one go into your general direction. He's not an accurate shooter though :)

Added the requested camera FOV option
Go to: Options -> Video -> FOV, where you can increase your field of view. This can give you a better overview of the battlefield.

Added a new weapon: the M1919-A6 Machine Gun
This is a heavy machinegun, with a weight of 14kgs it will slow you down a little (it's currently the heaviest weapon in the game), but has a high range and incorporates a large capacity magazine, requiring fewer reloads. Try it out!

Versus 1.16 is now live on Steam! Here's a list of additions to the game:

Added the 3rd sentry gun type: The Shotgun Sentry

A wide-angle firing sentry, sitting in between the regular and the grenade sentry, costing 2500.

(Remember all sentry types have their own overheating and reload characteristics, some reload slow, overheat faster, etc.)


New Perks:

Clusterbomb Aim
Drops cluster bombs at the crosshair position

Sentry Pro
Increases sentry cooldown speed by 15%

Sentry Expert
Increases sentry damage by 15%

Increases movement speed by 5%

Gamepad/Controller:

During the building phase, right stick movement is now scaled radial, making object placement smoother. There's no 'snapping back' to the player when the stick is in the deadzone.


Misc:

The m40a5 sniper rifle now has a single reload

Increased AA12 damage by 15%

Sentry update

Hello everyone,

Versus has updated to version 1.13. You can build a new type of sentrygun! The MK19 Grenade Sentry.
This gun has a slower firing rate than the normal sentry but 5x more killing power, firing explosive grenades. It should kill any regular enemy in one hit and is very effective against bosses when in a group of 3 or more.

To allow for more sentrygun types with different weapon mounts to be added, there are some small changes:

Sentry guns can now be reloaded at any time (outside build phase), not just when they are empty. But the reload speed varies according to the type of gun. The regular sentry reloads in a second, the MK19 sentry takes 2.5 seconds to reload. Other sentry guns will have different reload speeds.

Remember when you build a sentry gun: try to place any type of 'decoy' barricade nearby (for example a barrel) so that you have less chance of a boss targeting and destroying that sentry.

Also:

Added female soundfx for the Sniper class

Fixed a bug where you could (sometimes) not buy or build if you joined a game in progress

I've uploaded a quick update which adds a new perk, which I promised to add in: Heavy Ammo

For those who are new to this perk, it adds 25% more ammo capacity to your projectile weapons when you reload, which provides a nice boost to your firepower ;)

As always when new perks are added in (alphabetically), re-check your AutoPerk list is still correct.

Patch 1.12 now live!

Hello everyone,

Here's what has changed since the last update news:

The game will now save your player profile settings for all 5 classes (visual, attributes, weapons and perks). This will require you to set these up once.

This means that when set up, you can freely switch between all classes, each with your chosen weapons, perks, attributes and visual look. Especially useful for quickly putting together a team in the lobby of an on-line multiplayer game!

Added new detailed high resolution ground textures for the Prison and Campsite maps and made their default map/barricade setup easier to start building with for beginners

Optimized rendering speed by almost +10%. Most people will see a similar fps/frames per second increase.

Explosions now guaranteed to damage all nearby enemies, enemies will no longer be blocked from damage by other enemies (Note: this makes the game a little easier since explosions will kill more :)

Payload perk now gives Xp from enemies killed by the explosion

Increased targeting accuracy (enemy hit box calculation)

KSG Shotgun: 35% faster reload time

Reduced damage of the Trapper Boss by 30%

You can now build closer to the edge of the maps

Coins will now stay 'active' for pickup for 20 seconds instead of 12, making it easier not to miss any pickups

50% more chance to get 100 coin drop amount instead of a 50-coin drop

Enemies will target all types of barricades to damage them, not just barricades that block their path (for example razor wire, wood spikes)

Last week added the Combat, No Fly Zone, SemiPro, Commander, Warlord and Master achievements. So these have been playtested and are working as expected :)

Version 1.11 is now live on Steam!



- Added a new female player class. You'll unlock her when you reach the 'Captain' player rank (or get the 'Turning Pro' achievement)

- Chinese language version now fully done and added!

- Added new achievements

- Added loot/money splitting in coop games. The killer will get the usual 100% of loot but other players will get a share depending on the number of players in the game. I.e. with 3 players, the killer gets 100 coins and the two other players each 33 coins. This is especially useful if some players are 'up front' killing and others behind protecting a breach point. The players behind will still share in the loot to be able to build between waves.

- Reduced the delay on bullet body piercing and added a rampdown as well so it becomes less likely a dead enemy blocks projectiles

- Your game's ending XP score and kill count is now also shown during the game over screen

- Various small bugs/tweaks, thanks to everyone who reported and/or suggested these!

Next up in version 1.12, among other things I plan on adding two new most-requested weapons.

Versus v1.09 now live!

Hello everyone,

This update adds the first batch of promised achievements.

Also, the building interval between waves in single player has been doubled from 30 seconds to 1 minute. This is to give people more time to build. Remember you can always skip the build phase using the Space key or gamepad X button.

Versus v1.08 now live!

Hello everyone,

Persistent Player Ranks and Perks

Version 1.08 includes the first version of persistent player leveling up! The way this works is as follows:

There are 8 player ranks, ranging from Recruit to Master. Each rank requires a balance of total kills and active playtime. Versus was already tracking total kills but from now it will also track 'active' playtime. This time will only increase while a game is in progress (and not while you're in the menu, when the game is paused, when in the building phase, or when it's game over, etc.)

Your total kills will have already been saved, and these will be taken into account.

For those interested, the required kills and active playtime for each rank is listed below.

Whenever you reach a new rank, you can select another persistent base perk. So for example when you've reached player level 5 (Captain), you can select up to 5 persistent base perks which you'll have when you start any game.

(A base perk is any perk which doesn't require another lower perk. Most perks are base perks, for example Powerup Hook, Regeneration, Endurance, etc. A perk like Snare or Heavy Armor is not a base perk and you'll still need to earn those during a game.

I'm looking into adding further player customization which unlocks with each player level.


Player Classes

As requested, Player Classes now also have their own powerup skill:

Scouts: +30% projectile weapon damage during 'Speed' powerups.

Scavengers: +30% more mines during 'Minelayer' and 'Claymore' powerups.

Assaults: +30% explosion damage during 'Rage' powerups.

Medics: +30% melee weapon damage during 'Shield' powerups. (esp. useful for those players meleeing bosses)


Misc.

XP Level Up sound effect changed to be a little more noticeable

Required historic kills and active playtime for each player rank:

Recruit: Default rank

Soldier: 1000 kills + 10 mins. active playtime

Trooper: 5000 kills + 30 mins.

Veteran: 10000 kills + 60 mins.

Captain: 25000 kills + 5 hours.

Commander: 50000 kills + 10 hours.

Warlord: 100000 kills + 20 hours.

Master: 250000 kills + 50 hours.
