I've been silent for a long time but I wasn't idle! There's much I have to share with you, so let's begin with the list!
mini-game you could have played until now is deleted. In case you haven't noticed the mini-game mentioned, you could have "broken" the game by clicking the choice text button repeatedly, resetting the animation of the text slowly going up. Now, clicking the buttons after making a choice will have no effect. I apologise to those who had fun with it.
new story images! The art is being improved, slowly but surely...
... and so are the texts! I'm revising the whole plot and all the pieces as I'm translating them. It took me a long time to realise that doing it solo will take me quite a long time so I decided to start sooner rahter than later.
finally, having in mind the ones blessed with older computers and laptops, I've developed an option that helps playing the game more smoothly. How can a visual novel not be smooth? Apparently, it can, if you introduce a heavy animation, so I made an option to change the animation style to "Dissolve" which is super light and still kind of cute, and "No animation" which is quite self-explanatory. You can change your preferences while in the gameplay scene, I hope it'll help!
I will be updating recommended and minimal system requirements, too, because I finally have access to more computers and laptops. Should you find some errors or have something else you'd like to share with me, I'm here for you! Stay safe and awesome!
Let the Halloween sale begin!

Halloween Sale announcement!
The spooky season in upon us
And though I don't really like horror films or games, I respect others' love to everything scary. There isn't much I can do with Victorian Debutante to make it more Halloween-y nor is there an event I could put in the game, I think I did come up with something equally as good, in my opinion.
Halloween sale!
I will put Victorian Debutante on a sale for a whole week. I hope you'll use this opportunity and if not for yourself, buy the game for your friends or relatives! Together you can find out your fate had you been a debutante in the Victorian era!
I will have some more wondeful news soon, so let's stay in touch! Stay safe and awesome!
A little update
Today's tiny update was supposed to come out last week but we celebrate all coming-outs no matter how late they seem. I still need to work on some aspects like remembering settings between plays but I had to uplad before I finished because Victorian Debutante was unplayable, as simple as that ːsquirtyayː Thank you for your patience and support! Stay safe and awesome!
Achievements are on!
Finally!
I'm super excited to finally be able to announce once and for all that Victorian Debutante now has achievements! I worked pretty hard on those, learn something new and I'm quite proud of myself! I'm also pretty delighted to soon be moving over to the next step on the roadmap. Let me remind you what I've got planned, in case you've forgotten!
Two done, four more to go! I've been writing articles and collecting materials for the more curious of you for quite some time and I can say, the wiki is going to be quite a reading! There's still much for me to improve in the game, but I'll keep pursuing the full completion of my plan. I believe that with time and much help from my mentour I'll be able to accomplish that and make one amazing visual novel out of Victorian Debutante! Keep up with the news and the development of Victorian Debutante! I'm working on my website, too, so you can I can share more fun stuff with you! Stay safe and awesome!
Surprise post and announcement!
Imagine my surprise when...
I'm currently working on implementing Steam achievements because games with those are scientifically proven to be more fun and things are going pretty wobbly but steadily in the direction of success (I'm also working on fixing some bugs, to make things more interesting and a lot harder, you can't stop me) when
More fixes and improvements!
I'm getting the hang of it
I think I've finally understood how to update games and how to prioritise fixes and improvements based on your feedback and my own observations. So here goes what I managed to do this week and what I'm planning on next week when I officially announce implementation of achievements.
This week:
finally fixed the jamming audio tracks and for good! I got to the bottom of the problem and changed the whole thing completely. I also modified some of the tracks to make the transitions a little smoother and nicer,
I dabbled with the image transition animation and made it shorter to make it appear less slide show-y. I know it's not the solution to the problem but I'll need more time to fix it completely so it's more of a temporary thing
escape button will now summon menu window when you're in the game scene, as it should have from the beginning. I'm adding this to my check-list for the next project.
Next week:
I'll announce the implementation of achievements! I'm working on it but as I'm not quite proficient in coding, so I'm going to need some more time with it
I'll smooth out saving your settings so that you don't have to change them everytime you launch the game. As of right now, I've determined the source of the problem, so that's a good start!
Keep your fingers crossed for me because if everything goes well then I might be able to work on DLCs and release them sooner! Stay safe and awesome!
Another bunch of fixes before a big announcement!
Once again I come to improve
I was really on the fence whether this post should be an announcement for the next step I'd planned in the roadmap or about the fixes I've been working on lately. I mean, achievements would probably bring in some more people; I would know, seeing how I myself am more likely to buy a game with some achievements. Then I realised that looking for new players for a not-so-nice or straight-up unfinished project is probably not the best idea. It's super easy to forget what it's like to buy a game when you're the one who's selling it. That realisation helped me make my decision, so...
Here's the list
I know, I love lists, too. There's nothing better to organise things and thought neatly and comprehensively. It's also a great way to put what I'm planning to improve and fix with the next update!
the music tracks jamming from time to time will finally work like they should! I'm actually super proud of this one, it did take a while!
the animation that sometimes looked like a slideshow, though cute, will now hopefully work more smoothly,
there will be a functionality added to the esc button! I should have thoguth about it earlier but it completely slipped my mind
I've also improved some of the story pictures and will be replacing the old ones with them
I think it's quite a nice list but it can always be bigger! Add your thoughts and ideas and if I can, I'll implement them in the next build!
Stay awesome and safe!
Fixes and improvements as planned
As promised, I bring forth a list of changes and improvements. I added some cool stuff as well!
pictures for the first 4 stories have been improved and (probably) will stay as they are now until I add animations,
sounds for making a choice and progressing the story,
UISounds slider in case you don't enjoy the sounds mentioned above,
change of the colour of text when hovering over the choices and when clikcking one
hand-drawn cursor, I hope you'll like it as much as I do!
a much-needed help for finding the button to progress with the story, though I have a few more ideas on how to highlight it further, if you feel it's still unobvious
As always I'm open to your suggestions! Stay safe and awesome!
