Woo! This update marks the transition of my game out of early access. With this patch I have fixed just about every bug that was on my list and polished up some other things. To list a few:
- Fixed a bug where the global leader board scores wouldn't load when the game first launches
- Changed the Pro Shop transport bubble to require a trigger pull rather than just touching it to avoid accidentally ending a round
- Fixed a bug which caused the club to resize to a longer length when a new hole loads if it was previously the longest possible length
- Altered the terrain on 16 to make it a little easier
- Altered spawn locations for players to make it more convenient (i.e. moved right for left handed shots and vice-versa)
I'm sure there are a couple more I'm forgetting, I've done a fair amount since last update but those are the main points. As for the future, I'm not 100% sure on my plans for the game going forward, I could add a little if I feel like it but I have nothing planned at the moment.
I want to say thank you to everyone who has been playing and following along my dev process, I appreciate it immensely that you are willing to support people like me as we try to complete a project, you are the best!
Bug Fixes and Leaderboard Detail - (0.5.1)
This update features some more information on the global leader boards, rank and score are now displayed alongside the player name and stroke count. This update also fixes a bug which affected the club length after the player had stretched or compressed it. Upon loading a new hole, the bug would cause the club length to revert back to its pre-stretched/compressed length. Also some various other bug fixes and general ironing out of the wrinkles as I am preparing to leave Early Access. There are still a couple of things that need fixing or improving but I am almost there. Thank you for playing!
Full 18 with Global Boards - (0.5.0)
This update is rather exciting for me as I have finally completed the original vision I had for this game at its inception. I am still a ways away from being "finished", but I finally have a full 18 hole course with functioning Local and Global leader boards. I even made a driving range, which I hadn't originally planned, but turned out to be a fun addition.
I think I still have one or two updates to do before publishing a version 1.0 and leaving Early Access. There is still a minor bug or two and I can do a bit more polishing. I also want to add one or two things that aren't necessary but would be nice to have.
Main features of this update are:
- Global and Local leader board for front and back nine
- Some terrain fixes on 16 and 18
- Fixed a keyboard bug on 18
- Changed par for back nine (2 strokes easier now)
Anyway, I hope everyone has had fun playing my game as it's been developing and I want to sincerely thank everyone, especially those who have left comments or thumbs ups, I really appreciate it. ːsteamhappyː
I Finally Bought A Vive!!
It might seem strange that I've made this much of a game without actually owning a Vive yet... Regardless, I will soon own one. I have no idea when it will arrive, I don't think it has even shipped yet, but I am super excited to be able to finish my game! Thanks to everyone for playing, more updates coming soon. ːsteamhappyːːsteamhappyː
[BETA] Some Landscaping and Detail for 18 - (0.4.1)
This update just makes 18 look much better and it probably plays a bit better too, although I can't say for certain without testing it, which I'm still unable to do at the moment.
I'm leaving this on the beta branch for now since I haven't sorted out the global leader boards yet, and since I can't actually test it anymore (still don't have my own Vive yet) I'm not even 100% sure everything works still. So someone please tell me if there is some game-breaking bug in this version.... ːsteamfacepalmː
Anyway, thanks for playing, enjoy.
(P.S. If you didn't see the previous patch notes, the password for beta is timmcculloch)
18 Holes Now Available on [Beta] Branch - (0.4)
So a bit of a different update this time, instead of putting it directly onto the main branch I wanted to put it onto the Beta (password is timmcculloch) so that people would have to opt in and could go back if they chose, mainly because this update is even less polished than usual. Please allow me to explain.
The only reason this game exists is because my brother-in-law (the nicest guy on Earth) allowed me to borrow his Vive for extended periods of time, I don't actually own one. Naturally he would like to use his own Vive after months of letting me use it and he came to get it yesterday. Luckily I have finished 17 holes and have completed the basic layout of the 18th (18 isn't pretty but it's playable). However I have taken a small step backwards with regards to the global leaderboards. I had been using a free hosting service for the leader data but it was unreliable at times so I'm currently in the process of moving it all to Steam's system (to be honest I have no idea why I didn't use Steam's in the first place) and as a result the global boards are missing in this version.
Since it's been a while since an update I wanted to show everyone what I've been working on but not having the Vive anymore will definitely slow me down. I'll still work on making 18 look better and maybe update the main branch. I just really want to have reliable Global leader boards before I launch from Early Access and finding a way to test everything without a Vive should prove interesting. Anyways thanks for reading this far and thank you for playing, I really appreciate every download. Happy New Year! ːsteamhappyː
Driving Range Fix and Added Option - (0.3.3)
Fixed some performance bugs in the driving range scene and also added the option to turn the trail behind the driver head on or off. I know I found it helpful when I was getting used to the distance but once I knew where to swing consistently I wanted it off so now the option is in there.
I'm still working on the last few holes but it's been taking me longer than I originally thought because I recently had to get a full time job so now I have way less time. Thanks to everyone for your patience and for playing.
Hole 15 and Minor Bug Fix - (0.3.2)
First of all sorry to my right handed players, I only recently noticed the spawn for the righties on the 14th was off the map, should be fixed now (that's what I get for working late at night). This update also brings hole number 15 which is pretty simple, but don't worry I'm planning for at least one more really interesting hole in the final three. As always, thank you to anyone that's playing!
Two More Holes - (0.3.1)
Slowly but surely I am getting there! Unfortunately I was without access to a Vive for a couple weeks which is why there has been such a gap between updates but I'm getting close to the finish line. With this update I now have completed 14 of the desired 18 holes and I am very excited to be so close to finishing my project. Thank you to everyone who has been playing and I hope you are all having fun!
A Few New Holes - (0.3.0)
Rather than wait until I've completed the entire back nine holes I decided to roll them out as I finish them (although they still may be subject to change) since it's all early access anyways. So this update has the first three holes in the back nine as well as some added polish on the front nine, mostly just terrain contours and details. Also fixed a few minor bugs. Thanks for playing, Hope you enjoy the new holes!
