Evaluation of the big VR4 survey
Disclaimer: VR4 is NOT CONFIRMED. We are still in the process of evaluating its feasibility.
We conducted a large survey under the motto “Shape The Future of Virtual Rides”. We received a lot of great submissions and were able to get a good overview of your wishes and ideas for a potential successor to Virtual Rides 3. We would like to take this opportunity to give you a little insight into the results:
TOP 5 - the most requested new features:
TOP 3 - the most popular game modes:
TOP 3 - your individual wishes:
Ride Customization
Fairground Simulation
Enhanced Audio Features
Regarding 1. above all, customizable light/LED effects and decoration were mentioned. In addition, (even) more realistic controls and storable, automatic ride programs.
For 2. the assembly and dismantling of rides, individual fairground layouts and a career mode were mentioned.
Under 3. you mainly asked for an improved music system with playlists, integration of streaming providers and more realistic ride and ambient sounds.
Create Your Ride
73% of respondents stated that they would like to use a “Create Your Ride” function, similar to Indoorlands. You can take a look at the workshop and see what users have already built there. Pretty impressive. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1378890/Indoorlands/
Kickstarter
As the potential development of a successor to VR3 would involve a great deal of effort, both in terms of time and money, we naturally also have to think about funding. That's why we asked you about crowdfunding. Only a quarter of respondents had any experience of this, but 40% could definitely imagine such an approach and a further 46% could possibly imagine it. That makes us very happy!
What does this mean?
The results of the survey will help us to assess the feasibility. Thank you again for your participation. We would like to exchange ideas with you on our Discord in the near future. We would also like to give you our perspective on the project and the great challenge of addressing a larger target group than before with a potential successor to VR3. Until then, we hope you enjoy the latest update.
As always, we value your feedback and encourage you to share your thoughts on this update with us. Your continued support helps us make VR3 better with every update. You can also join our Pixelsplit Discord server: https://discord.gg/fDV3YPA

Let's shape the future of VIRTUAL RIDES now.
Dear loyal players and supporters,
VR3 is now 7 years old and we at Team Pixelsplit want to give you the opportunity to help shape the future of virtual rides. Do you want to be a part of this? Then join in now. Click here.
Discord Discussion Forums for questions/ideas/help:
We want to find out whether it makes sense to start developing Virtual Rides 4. To do this, we want to find out what your basic interest is and, above all, what a VR4 should look like so that it is the best funfair simulator the world has ever seen. And what better way to do this than to ask you, our loyal players and experts in the field, for your wishes and opinions.
What's the procedure?
Take your time to complete this survey. You have one week to submit your answers. We will read all your answers and summarize the results. Our team will analyze the results and create a feasibility concept.
And then? What happens next?
We want to involve you in the process and will share the results and conclusions of the survey with you as soon as we have finished our analysis and the feasibility concept.
At the same time, we will continue to work on VR3 updates and DLCs.
Important:
This is not an announcement for Virtual Rides 4, but a first step to evaluate if a development is reasonable and feasible.
You, our community, have made so many great suggestions over the years, which we want to collect here. Let's work together to create something great that has never been seen before. But let's also remain calm, realistic and constructive.

Update 2.5: New rides and multiple designs
Hi,
Today we unveil the exciting update 2.5.
New rides
This time we have focused on adding two new rides instead of one.
First up, we have "Glider" - Feel the rush as you soar through the sky. With its unpredictable twists, "Glider" promises an adrenaline-packed experience like no other.
Next, prepare to take a ride on "Upside Down" - Feel the G-forces. With its intense rotation, "Upside Down" is guaranteed to leave you breathless.
We have also added a feature that allows you to create multiple ride designs per ride. You can then switch between different designs with just a few clicks.
These are also stored under Documents/VR3/Custom Designs. This means you can easily exchange them with other players.
We hope that this feature will also be of interest to the active modder community.
As always, we value your feedback and encourage you to share your thoughts on this update. Your continuous support helps us make VR3 better with each update. Feel free to join our Pixelsplit Discord server: https://discord.gg/fDV3YPA

Update 2.4: New ride and new textures
Hi,
Today we unveil the exciting update 2.4 with a variety of enhancements and fixes to improve your gameplay experience. And …
New ride
We added the “Northstar” ride to the funfairground. Feel the strong acceleration as you fly through the air at a height of 30 meters.
We completely remade a lot of textures and materials to have higher quality and more details, especially on the rides.
Other changes
Added: Keyboard shortcuts for toggling laser, movinghead and skybeams.
Improved: Some slight performance improvements.
Fixed: Some typos in German language
Fixed: Spawn position when selecting Prism ride on map (so it is directly controllable)
What is next?
First and foremost, we are overjoyed by the vibrant enthusiasm and enduring passion that you, our valued players, continue to show for Virtual Rides. The creativity shown through modding and the countless hours many of you have dedicated to the game truly warms our hearts. A big thank you to each and every one of you!
Now to the burning question: what is on the horizon for VR3? As a compact but ambitious studio, we've been channelling our creative energies into two other exciting projects - Indoorlands and REVEIL. Admittedly, this has left us with limited resources to devote to Virtual Rides. However, we're eager to put some more focus back into VR3 and are outlining plans to release 2-3 updates each year. The updates will mainly include new rides, but we are also working on some features such as managing different customisations for your rides, allowing you to switch between different themes. This should be of particular interest to modders.
This rhythm is planned to be continued for as long as the technical framework of our nearly seven year old game allows. We are beginning to bump up against some of its inherent limitations, but our ambition to bring you exciting new content and improvements remains unwavering.
As always, we value your feedback and encourage you to share your thoughts on this update. Your continuous support helps us make VR3 better with each update. Feel free to join our Pixelsplit Discord server: https://discord.gg/fDV3YPA

Update 2.2 - Ride at the lake
Hello dear VR3 community,
today is the day: A new VR3 update is available for you.
Relaxing at the lake
We have enlarged the festival area by another piece. There you will find a beautiful body of water, but unfortunately too cold for swimming. But riding a ride with a view of the water sounds good, doesn't it?

Like building your own rides?
For those who haven't seen it yet: We released "Indoorlands" - an indoor amusement park building game - in July. A few days ago there was an update that allows you to build your own rides. [previewyoutube="iffNM8a6EWA;full"]
We hope you like the update. Feel free to leave us your feedback. If you want to talk about VR3, funfairs or rides, feel free to come to our Discord server ( https://discord.gg/2X8WWaK ). If you want to report bugs, you can also do so via our form, which is directly connected to our task system: Here.
you surely all have noticed that we have been working on our new park building simulation "Indoorlands".
Today, after 2 years of work, the time has finally come and we are releasing Indoorlands for PC, Mac and Linux as Early Access.
[previewyoutube="zSlqCk1413Q;full"]
Of course we also took the wishes of the Virtual Rides community into account when developing the game and integrated the well-known ride features into Indoorlands. You can expect 8 unique rides at the beginning of the Early Access phase, which you can not only control and color, but also create your very own environment with the help of our decoration system. Whether it's pirate, western, space, urban, Viking or Japanese, there's something here for everyone. Of course, we'll be adding more rides during the Early Access phase, as well as adding new theming options. In addition, we have of course also the theme "roller coasters" on the screen and will find a way to integrate roller coasters into the game here.
To celebrate the release, Indoorlands is available at a special price of 9.99 euros.
One feature we are currently developing we are especially proud to announce to you: The ride builder. "Build your Ride" We are currently developing a mode in Indoorlands where it will be possible to design a ride from scratch. Should it be a round ride? What platform should there be, how many gondola crosses should there be, how fast should they be able to rotate or are they physical? Will there be rollover gondolas and how many of them? Or should it rather be a ride with lift? A swing? There are no limits to creativity and we are only at the beginning!
As soon as the prototype is further developed and there are first pictures, we will of course share them with you. For now, we are looking forward to your feedback on Indoorlands and are excited to see how the game will develop with you over the next few months.
We will have some time for Virtual Rides in the future and will deliver new content there as well.
Thank you for this incredible journey over the last 15 years! We're proud of how what was once a small ride simulator has now evolved into an entire park-building game.
