Update 0.7 Preview #4: Dangerous Caverns

We are one week away from Steam Next Fest and the upcoming 0.7 Update.

Hope you are having an amazing weekend. In anticipation of the upcoming event, we've updated the full version early for everyone who acquired it from IndieGala.

It features only some of the Next Fest Update elements, but enough to give you a taste of what's to come. We are continuously working on polishing it, every day and your feedback is very valuable.

Many of the locations have been updated, including caves as well as the monsters residing inside. Bigger and more deadly dangers are to be expected.

The caves got more dangerous




Observation Report:

The inside of the caves seem contaminated by the virus. Walls are drenched in the mutagenic tissue, pulsating and emanating a horrible odor. There are also valuable resources that are worth investigating.


The infection only seems to spread further, even outside the caves. Variants of the similar type of specimens get created.


The situation seems to be getting worse. Variants who appear human, but they are taller, stronger. They do not seem capable to communicate. It would also appear that these caves are the main nests and hatchery for these specimens.

Update 0.7 Preview #3 - Video Highlights: AI Improvements

New AI Update Preview Video




We've prepared a special treat for all the Mercenaries. A short video compilation featuring some of the new improvements and changes that will be brought by the 0.7 Update in the Steam Next Fest Update.

This video will highlight the improved dodge system, improved ragdolls and hit effects, improved melee combat with brand new dismemberment system, improved blood effects & more.

IMPORTANT: This is our first video featuring audio commentary, so make sure to give it a proper listen.

The habits of wild dogs





Observation Report:

Wild dogs have always been part of the island's fauna. The wolf is known as the apex predator and a crucial component for a healthy ecosystem. Their effect on the overpopulation of the forest is remarkable.

Unsurprisingly, they even may practice cannibalism, because they are opportunistic carnivores.

Wild Dogmen cooperation extends to their social structure, they have complex hierarchies, similar to regular wild dogs, and move as packs using cooperation and teamwork to pursue, overhaul and bring down their target. They can communicate with each other by touch, actions, and vocalizations.

Dogmen have been observed capable to sprint after their prey at speeds of over 70km (44 miles) an hour.

Gameplay Improvements & Balancing




Bringing various gameplay fixes and improvements, as well as visual and quality of life optimizations, a few of the changes bring:

- Map lighting, day/night/storm effects, UI, textures, and models improvements and remastering
- Adjusted and balanced several materials / ammo spawn locations
- NPC drops overhauled
- Fixed various clipping issues
- NPC pathfinding improvements
- New behavioral patterns added to NPCs
- Minor Audio improvements, additions and bug fixes, to, vehicle, gun and combat sound effects
- Fixed mission-related problems where sometimes essential objects weren’t handled correctly
- Enhanced appearance of several Hunters
- Added more roads and locations to drive to, together with road signs and landmarks
- Various other minor fixes and improvements
- Added more environmental storytelling & secrets to be discovered

Update 0.7 Preview #2 - Nightmares in the oil mill

Decoded recording of Dr. A.J. Sanchez, October 15, unspecified location in the eastern Mediterranean.

"Virus V exhibits a unique and highly aberrant mutational profile, resulting in the formation of grotesque human-animal hybrids.
As a consequence, the infected host experiences a rapid and uncontrolled proliferation of hybridized cells.

The most alarming manifestation of Virus V's mutational effects is the cocooning phenomenon observed in infected individuals. The virus induces the formation of thick, fibrous cocoons around its victims, serving as a protective mechanism for the incubation of new hybrids. This process involves the secretion of complex proteins and structural materials, ultimately encapsulating the infected host within a chrysalis-like structure. The cocooned individuals serve as a breeding ground for the continued propagation of Virus V, as well as the development of additional hybridized entities.

There lived on the island a farmer with whom I had formed a friendship... I know that I shouldn't let myself be tainted by personal emotions, I have been educated since university to treat every biological phenomenon in an aseptic manner, but seeing that man, once my friend... incorporated into that horrendous creature.... if I were a believer I would ask God for forgiveness.".

The Barrels in Olive Factory





The V virus, based on the environment where it has spread, can have certain particularities. The living tissue can assimilate both organic and inorganic materials and merge together.
New barrel like creatures, mimicking the olive barrels from the olive factory have emerged. Not much is known about them, but they seem to be coordinated, in a way, by something massive.

Merged with the walls, an unidentified creature resides, reverberating unsettling inhuman sounds.

Evolved Dogmen Behavior




The new specimens observed on the island, while having a humanoid stature, they are feral in nature. The brain, under close inspection, is not of a human nor animal. These Dogmen have a bit of both. An unnatural amalgamation.
Some seem to move in packs and coordinate attacks. They seem to have a form of communication and social hierarchy. They seem to be capable to assess certain situations and make decisions accordingly.

Some seem to have also evolved in such a way to use weapons or tools in combat.

While some Dogmen are aggressive and attack on sight, others may be more cautious or even opportunistic. They will avoid direct contact, but may use unconventional methods of approaching.
Taming a Dogman can be a valuable ally when surviving the island and useful in many situations. Taming such a creature isn't an easy task, but the benefits will make the extra effort worth it.

Update 0.7 Preview #1 ( Steam Next Fest coming )

We hope you had some amazing holidays and are ready for this new year, because we are.

First thing's first: we will be part of this year's upcoming Steam Next Fest in less than a month.

And with our participation we will also be bringing a massive new update with a lot of features and additions, about which we will be going into in depth in the following weeks.

V virus is an obligate intracellular parasite, that is, capable of living and reproducing only inside living cells.

Its multiplication occurs when its structural proteins bind to human genetic material.
However if, after this step, the V virus also comes into contact with cells of other species, it is able to accelerate the multiplication process by up to twenty times, generating human-animal hybrids.

The majority of the island's mammals, particularly canids, have developed these mutations.

Our drones have detected at least three different types of human-canid hybrid.

Wolf-like dogman: Large in size but with exceptional agility. Characterized by an elongated muzzle that narrows from the base to the tip but does not end in a point, with erect ears and which has the characteristics of a wolf.

A ravenous and dangerous predator from which it is therefore advisable to keep a distance, it normally patrols the wooded regions of the island always in search of fresh blood.



Molossoid Dogman: with a compact, muscular build and a voluminous, brachycephalic skull. He does not appear aggressive unless provoked. From our findings it seems that there is the possibility of taming it



Greioid Dogman: a shy and elusive animal in itself, it does not attack humans, it does not recognize them as possible prey, but rather as a threat to quickly get away from.



All these breeds are capable of interacting with their surroundings and other NPCs, roam, feed, sleep and perform various actions.
Some of them can be tamed and become Player's companion.

Dogmen are just some of the mutations you can encounter in Vorax. We'll tell you about many more in the coming weeks.

A completely new implementation of artificial intelligence.



The many different classes of enemies that you can encounter in Vorax (human infected hunters, walkers, dog-men, naked infected, Cyclopes etc.), each with its own specific behavior,
they all derive from the same base class that we completely redesigned during the months of November and December.
We have completely rewritten both the locomotion part of the characters and their behaviors.
All previous code has been replaced by new logic.

Enemies have now more advanced attack patterns and improved offensive capabilities. Some can also use long ranged attacks, throwing rocks or cans at the player.

Enemies can attack and coordinate as groups. Leading to more complex and elaborate attack formations and tactics. Be prepared to get ambushed.

Enemies have also an improved sense of self-preservation and at times will use evasive maneuvers in order to avoid damage or escape the player, in order to regroup and attack again in the future.

The interactions with the environment have been completely revised, the ragdoll logic has been completely rewritten and made dynamic and new bleeding and dismemberment visual effects have been added.

This is a small patch after our 0.6 release of 2 days ago. It fixes few isuess we discovered after tons of feedback from you guys!

The latest Vorax Halloween update brings many improvements, fixes and new features, bringing horror to a new light!

Light being one of the vital elements when surviving on the island, since most enemies are photosensitive, the lighting effects were improved.


The darkness of the night can hide some horrible secrets. If you run out of battery, the moon and the stars are your only guide. But also fog! So beware, horrible creatures can jump out from fog....


Storms can be unforgiving, reducing visibility with just brief flashes of light brought by lightnings will help you navigate the landscape.


We updated both FULL and DEMO version to 0.6.1
Major update details:
- Total overhaul of weather and atmospherics effect
- added fog and thunderstorms
- added rain particles, dust particles, wet and dust effects
- added volumetric fog
- added markers in-game missions

The Arachnorats Invasion starts with the newest UPDATE 0.5.95

The nightmarish world of Vorax just got deadlier. The latest update introduces a spine-tingling addition: the Arachnorats!



In a classified experiment at a mysterious biolab on the island, rats and spiders were spliced in a project ominously named "the ultimate coronavirus vector", but the hybridization project did not go as planned.



The situation took a horrifying turn when they came into contact with the insidious "V Virus". There were no survivors. Except for the "arachnorats".



Individually, a rat or a spider does not pose a major threat. In a group however these mutants are relentless predators that will tear flesh and bone apart, day or night. They are unaffected by sunlight and will swarm anyone and anything in sight, devouring them.



Vorax's latest update brings a slew of new features to the game:

1. New Enemies: Arachnorats take center stage, and they're not the only threat you'll face. Be prepared for swarms of these abominations ambushing you as you traverse the game's landscapes.

2. Expanded Gameplay: The update includes new locations to explore, both in the demo map and the full version of the game. Even in the demo, you'll get to see new things, with an expanded 1-square-kilometer map.



3. Fresh Items and Mechanics: Vorax is stepping up its game with an array of new items, mechanics, weapons, and tools that will test your survival skills.



If you're up for the challenge and ready to dive into a world where you're constantly ambushed by hordes of monsters and freaks, then the Vorax's Arachnorats Update is right for you.

Major update details:

  • New enemy types: introduced Arachnorats enemy groups in various locations.
  • New interactable bushes types.
  • Now most of the containers in the game (baskets, car dashboards or trunks, garbage bags, etc.) are searchable and drop loot.
  • Now the glowing growths can be broken and drop biomass-like material that can be used for various purposes.
  • Added Roadsigns and various road assets.
  • Improved running animations of most weapons.
  • New cheats console added, cleaner and easier.

Only difference in demo is that once you manage to exit sewers the demo ends.
