Update - Hit markers and Horde Mode

Hi Folks!

We made a boo-boo. In yesterdays version 1.6 update, we incorrectly added an update that removed the functionality of the player's horde mode character in Sector 06. We have since corrected this issue by pushing an update tonight.

Further to this, we've also received feedback eluding to a lack of hit markers on projectile collision. This error, along with several bug fixes, performance improvements and content tweaks have all been pushed through tonight.

Thanks for the feedback folks!

VRange V1.6 - Full Title Launch

Howdy Folks!

It's been an extremely busy few weeks here at Cannon Fire Games. We've been hard at work developing new content, plugging leaks and spending time on the range!

We've been steadily moving forward with the development of new content and today, with a fantastic grin on my face, I can say we've finally reached the Version 1.6 Milestone and, we're officially ready to release VRange from Early Access.

It's been a fantastic community achievement and from the bottom of my heart, I want to thank everyone that has taken the time to provide feedback, helped with development and gave their time and skill to the project.

Thank you.

Future Developments

We may have reached V1.6, but that's certainly not the end of updates to VRange. We've still got a ton of work to do, new content to add, features to implement and feedback to review and action. Rest assured we'll be working on VRange for a while longer to ensure we can action upon all of the fantastic feedback we've received.

We're currently working on our release branches for OCULUS and PSVR and the steam branch will of course benefit over time from all of these fantastic content updates. We've got new weapons, maps, and game modes in the works, currently being processed with our testing team and we've had a huge update in content with version 1.6.

What's New?

I'm going to keep things simple and dedicate another post to discuss the content released in Version 1.6 which I'll post this evening, but in a nutshell, we've got tons of new weapons, a new weapons training range map, new explosives, and radial damage weapons. There's a new explosive orientated map with dynamic destructible walls, an elevated firing position and along with that we've got an MG33 grenade launcher and new handheld explosives. We've integrated a new pause game system, new menu interfaces, and a ton of new weapons. On top of all this, we've been hard at work completing even more performance improvements.

Final Word

I just want to save a final massive thank you again to everyone who has helped get VRange to this stage. It's been a massive undertaking and we've still got a long way to go, but with the incredible support provided by everyone, it's been an incredibly fun journey.

VRange - Version 1.5.11 - Weekly Notes

Hi Folks!

Just a small update this week to keep everyone in the loop. We’ve had an incredibly busy few weeks outside of the world of game development. Outside is a questionable term, outside of the world of our indie game development world, in the big bad world of AAA game development. Egh!, confusing I know!

Needless to say things have been quiet on the VRange front, apologies all round for this. Rest assured tho we’ve been steaming ahead with major developments behind the scenes.

I’ll drop some small update news below and get back with a bigger update at the start of next week!

New Zombies

We’ve been working on a great new update that’s going to bring in a selection of new zombie types. Zombie breeds will each have different strengths and weaknesses as well as differences in speed, attach strength, attack types and damage types! Just as always, don’t get the blood on your mouth!

New Weapons

There’s a heap of new weapon work going on. New LMG’s, assault rifles, pistols and sniper rifles. We’re progressing through a sound pass at the minute but this will be one of the first content updates pushed out next week.

New Ranges & Targets

This is a personally exciting one as I’ve been looking forward to getting this into VRange for a long time. What does every good shooting range need? Bottles of colored sticky soda of-course!

We've got a new map update coming soon featuring a range of new targets, everything from bottles of soda, to a heavy weapons and explosives range! To accompany that, we've got grenade launchers, shotguns with flaming ammo, rockets and dynamite! BOOM!

We'll be implementing these updates next week and will provide a more detailed overview then as to whats new and exciting! As always, we'd love to hear your feedback!

VRange V1.5.10 - New Weapons, Optimization, Locomotion and Demo

Hey Folks!

That time of the week again, I've compiled the latest developments in VRange into a handy news post! We've had a really busy week making quality of life improvements and adding new content. It's hoped that with these changes, and the next few upcoming, we'll start to develop the play-ability of a lot of VRange features and remove some of the 'clunkyness'.

Looking forward to hearing the feedback on this weeks changes, you can always grab me for feedback or support on the steam forums, or pop along to the VRange website/social media accounts and get in touch!

Locomotion Updates

This week we've gone ahead and made some changes to the locomotion and movement systems within VRange. In previous builds, once you were holding a weapon or object, were unable to use that active hand for movement. This limited a players ability to only holding one weapon and moving.

We've done away with that now, and you can dual wield two objects/weapons and still have full control of character movement. While doing this we've made a small change to the speed of the character once items are gripped. Now you'll move faster when you have empty hands, so make use of that inventory system.

Inventory Updates

A small update this week brings changes to the inventory system. While still very much experimental in it's current state, we've been developing upon feedback and have changed a few things around. Now you'll only have access to holding a sidearm and a melee weapon in your inventory. It was found that AR weapons were causing glitch issues when held within the inventory, so more things for us to work on in the future but we'll have improvements soon.

New Weapon Drop

We've got new weapons this week! The SCAR-L and UZI have now been added to the arsenal. We're really excited about the new weapons and feel they can help the player level the playing field ( when it's full of zombies ).

Looking forward to hearing feedback on these new weapons systems, we'll make any changes necessary in smaller backup updates.

Optimization

In our continued efforts to improve performance and optimization within VRange, we've completed another performance pass. With this, we've undertaken more work on materials to lower their rendering cost and worked on heavily improving the rendering of effects.

While these changes may make only a subtle change on higher-end PC's, it's all part of our work to improve quality of life elements within the game! One thing you will notice, we've reduced the build size of VRange by almost 4GB! Whoo for hard drive space!

VRange Demo

Exciting news! We've released a demo build of VRange which is available on the Steam Store page! The demo includes the new Sector 06 horde mode content. We'll be updating the demo as new full release updates are built, but content will be severely limited.

Get your friends battling it out on the scoreboards now for zombie killer of the week!

Next Weeks Updates

It's been a busy week but we're already looking forward to next. As always we'll be developing more upon the feedback from the community before adding new content.

We've got some new weapons lined up for next week, further additions to the player inventory system, and a new player tutorial section!

Until next time!

-Marrick

VRange Weapon Pass 3 - V1.5.9

This week we completed a difficult pass on the weapons of VRange. We're prepping a bigger update soon to bring in the latest weapon drop however it was common knowledge that we needed to get a good pass on the weapons to clean things up a bit. You'll now find it easier to operate all of the weapons and we've added some simple instructions for new players in the briefing room!

With this pass we've also worked hard to add some interesting attachments to weapons! Different weapons will feature everything from sights and silencers to activatable attachments such as laser sights and torches! Instructions for these additions have been added to the briefing room also!

Melee Combat - Updates and Feedback

We're still working hard to improve and add further support for melee combat within VRange. If you haven't already, be sure to look around for Melee weapons in the Horde mode environments! We've got knifes, axes, bats and even a meat cleaver!

That's it for this week! As always be sure to send in your reports from the field on things your enjoying and things you loath! I've always got an open ear to the community!

VRange V1.5.2 - V1.5.4 Performance improvements

With VRange version 1.5.4 we've been doing a full performance improvement pass over several areas of the game. You can now expect to find vast performance improvements throughout Low - Mid systems.

We've made changes to the rendering techniques used for environment effects, lighting and detail rendering. Improvements to map design to sure up some weak spots and a rework of Level of detail settings have had a big improvement and gathered up a lot of lost FPS.

We'll be continuing this on an ongoing basis to ensure VRange runs at it's most optimal ensuring you get dead eye shots on all those targets!

VRange V1.5.5 Map Rework

In VRange Version 1.5.5 we've taken a look at our current map list and began the process of re-purposing and reworking some of the less favorable maps. We''ll soon have several new training ranges, but for the mean time we've taken Grandma's China and Sniper Range off of the map list. We'll be replacing these with new and exciting training ranges including a ZLab map that will allow players to blast apart zombies!

In terms of the CQB courses, we've been thrilled with the popularity of the bastion training range. We're making some small target tweaks based of player feedback and we're policing up a lot of a spare brass to improve map performance.

With version 1.5.6 were updating the armory with some fantastic new weapon systems. Take the tactical option with the new SCAR-L with tactical optics and angled grip.
