There was an issue in the French version that would stop players from being able to progress beyond the 3rd night. This is now fixed.

Wait: The Patient - Store page live
Hello everyone,
after much consideration, we've decided to separate The Patient from Wait - Extended, and turn it into its own game. There are multiple reasons for this decision. One being the technical issues that we briefly mentioned in a previous post, but also the fact that The Patient has become a much bigger project than we first anticipated, and we feel like it deserves to be its own game. So many people have put such wonderful work into the project, and we wouldn't want their work to be hidden within an 8 year old game. That way, it will also be possible for The Patient to have its own demo, achievements, trading cards, community hub, and so on.
That being said, we're super excited to release the Steam store page for Wait: The Patient today: Wait: The Patient Store Page
All Steam updates and news regarding the project will now be posted there, so make sure to follow and wishlist.
Demo Release and development update
Demo Release
Today we released a playable demo of 'Wait - Extended' that let's you play through the first nights of the main story. The demo version is already in version 2.0 which features some new artwork and some quality of life improvements. That being said, the full game still remains in v1.8, just to clear up any confusion should you play the full game after having played the demo.
So, if you were uncertain about purchasing the game up until now, we invite you to play the demo and see for yourself if it's something for you. You can find it on the store page of the full game.
Development of 2.0
As for the development of 2.0 'The Patient', we are nearing its end. While we said Q1 in our teaser, due to private matters, it didn't work out and we apologize. The story of the new side story has been completely developed and now we are implementing all sorts of polishing and extra elements that are still open, such as some optional side quests and secrets, as well as the artwork overhaul for the main story.
We hope you are as excited for it as we are and stay tuned.
Development Update and RPG Maker Festival
Hello,
here's a very late "first update of the year".
RPG Maker Festival 2024
Before we dive into the current development, the RPG Maker Festival 2024 has started and we are participating with 'Wait - Extended'. So if you want to check out the game before the big update, you could get it now for a small discount. We also encourage you to check out the other great games participating in the festval.
As for the development of 'The Patient' and version 2.0, we have finished almost all of the illustrations for the cutscenes and will start voice recording for the protagonist this week. We're very excited to put the visuals and audio together and eventually show you the results.
As part of the update, the artwork from the base game will also be overhauled with the new style, which we will start, after all artwork for 'The Patient' has been created.
On the coding side, we are trying to find a good fix for the infamous F12 key that, per engine default, restarts the game, instead of taking a Steam screenshot. Since this requires making changes to the core system, we're being very cautious with the whole plan. The last thing we want is to break what's already there.
As for the gameplay, sadly the game flow implementation isn't finished yet. The beginning of the year was wild and didn't leave as much time for development, as we had hoped. We are still aiming for our Q1 goal, though.
A final note
Lastly, a little request - we're a very small passion driven team and although passion is an important factor when making games, it doesn't help if no one knows about your game. Marketing a game these days is like chewing on a tough piece of meat, and if you like our game and what we do, we'd like to kindly ask for your assistance in this regard. Share the trailer, our Steam page, our Discord with people you think are into that kind of game. Everything helps us get a little more traction.
Hello everyone, as the holidays draw near, we are also preparing to spend a few days with the familiy. But not without letting you hear from us first.
The Steam Winter Sale is upon us and if you feel the extra need for some holiday eeriness, you can grab Wait - Extended for a discount.
Apart from a little setback due to sickness, we made good progress. Because of the different setting and the possibility to talk to a lot of people (which you seldom do in the base game), we were faced with a different kind of story writing challenge and had quite a few design sessions with a lot of back and forth, before we settled on the final gameflow.
As always and in tradition of games like these, there will be riddles and we try our best to make them as entertaining, challenging, and non-frustrating as we can. Some are optional and some are integrated in the story.
We wish you Happy Holidays and look forward to next year's release of the update.
Cheers from the rest.less Games team.
About release dates and teasers
Hello everyone,
we've been working a lot on the scarier parts of the new content, drawing inspiration from other incredible games (especially old ones), while trying to stay true to the way we convey horror in the base game (no jump scares, only atmosphere).
By now, it is easier to evaluate when we'll be done and while we cannot give you a specific date yet, we can definitely say it is going to be some time in Q1 of 2024 (therefore soon-ish).
To give you a bit of a taste of what you can expect from 'The Patient', we prepared this short teaser. We hope you enjoy and if you do, wishlist or purchase the game on Steam and join our Discord.
About artwork, voices and content
Hello everyone,
we apologize for the long radio silence. We had many changes happening to the project, and a variety of plans were set into motion. Some things are still uncertain, which is why we can't talk about them yet. As for the things we can talk about:
New artist:
We have a new artist, who will not only provide the artwork for 'The Patient', but also overhaul the artwork of the base game. We're very excited and hope you enjoy her art as much as we do.
Voiced Scenes:
After evaluating the possibility for a long time, we decided to have a few select scenes in 'The Patient' that are voiced. These scenes are key scenes of 'The Patient's plot, for which we thought that putting in voices was appropriate. In this regard, we're happy to announce that we have already found the voice actors for our two main characters in this story, and that recordings have already started.
Content:
Choices with consequences: At some times in the 'The Patient' you get to decide what the character is going to say or do, which will impact later parts of the story or even shape the nature and atmosphere of the scarier moments of the game.
There will be lots of objects to interact with
To support the explorative nature of this side story, we added lots of secrets and riddles.
You can talk with the hospital staff throughout the different time phases and help them (or don't).
We also added a few quality of life features (for example, an updating map).
We hope you like it and don't forget to join our Discord, if you haven't already: rest.less Games Discord
