AI Rework, Rendering Changes and Intro Cutscene - Patch 10.33

Gameplay



  • Lacerating Bone Adept Lifesteal reduced from 2% of Max Health per Hit to 1% of Max Health per Hit.

Improvements



  • An intro cutscene has been added detailing some lore before the events of the Warparty Campaign.


  • The rendering system has been changed to full Physically Based Rendering from a legacy system. Textures and shaders have been reworked to make use of this system. The game’s visuals have been improved as well as giving us more flexibility for certain features. This also allows proper use of light baking in the future for significant performance gain.
  • The AI has received an upgrade to play more competently.
  • AI build locations are no longer generated but pre-created, reducing load times.
  • Survival Mode difficulty toned down for all difficulty settings.
  • Added two extra shrines to Survival Mode.
  • Wild Dinosaurs added to Survival Mode for a more interesting early game start.
  • Farms now have snow on winter maps.
  • Scaffolding now has snow on Winter Maps.
  • The first Triceratops in the Tutorial is now aggressive.

Controls



  • A new tab was added in the “Controls” menu for “Observer Mode” hotkeys.

  • The overview screen for Observer Mode has a new button that refreshes data.

Gameplay



  • The Mountain Passes 3v3 Map is now available. This will receive a graphical update in the future but is already playable!


  • The early game tech tree has been revamped to expand early game choices and increase the importance of scouting by enabling the entire combat triangle.

  • Archers are now available at the Barracks with a Tier 1 Settlement.
  • Archer cost increased from 50 Food to 60 Food.

  • Stable can now be constructed with a Tier 1 Settlement.
  • Stable cost reduced from 250 Food and 100 Crystal to 175 Food and 75 Crystal.
  • Triceratops Riders are now available at the Stable with a Tier 1 Settlement.

Bugs



  • Fixed a bug where water would not be rendered on low quality settings.

Miscellaneous Improvements



  • The tutorial now features full voice acting for the dialogue!

  • Unit movement has been updated to better handle group movement and keep units together. This also reduces the issue of units from running in circles when ordered to a location that is already occupied.

  • Damage calculation and application is now done when a projectile is destroyed instead of created.

  • A chieftain icon appears next to the player’s name in-game to signify their selected faction rather than a single character between brackets.
  • A new alert has been added that triggers when your Chieftain dies.

  • Picking a colour when in an AI Skirmish is now always possible even if an AI has selected it. The AI will automatically switch to the next available colour.

  • Observers now receive a confirmation warning when attempting to leave a match and return to the main menu.
  • Selecting units and buildings will no longer play their selection sound when selected in Observer Mode.
  • An opacity slider has been added to the Observer overview window.
  • Edge scrolling with the overview window open in Observer mode is now enabled so you can continue following the match.
  • A production queue for each player has been implemented for Observer Mode. Clicking an item in this queue will move the camera to the building that is producing it.
  • Buildings being constructed are also shown in this queue for Observer Mode.

  • The lines for Rally Points and queued commands will now display through terrain on maps with height differences.

  • Destroyed buildings will now have the fire die out first before the building disappears.

  • A benchmark test will automatically run and set recommended quality settings when first launching the game.
  • Optimized unit detection further for various game mechanics to be more performant.
  • Various 3D models significantly optimized for better performance.
  • Significantly optimized the Shrine code to be more responsive and performant.

Observer Mode and Achievements - Patch 0.10.19

Gameplay



  • A first version of Observer Mode is now available. We're still refining the whole implementation as we go, but the base version is functional.

  • Achievements are now available!

  • A progress bar has been added for Shrines to better indicate how close you are to capturing it.

  • Lava Elemental “Super Nova” explosion damage increased from 50 to 75.
  • Lava Elemental “Super Nova” will now give +1 Movement Speed instead of setting the Movement Speed to 4.
  • Lava Elemental “Super Nova”, the +25 Armour it grants persists for an additional 3 seconds after the explosion occurs.
  • Sabertooth Assassin “Assassination” Attack Speed effect increased from +75% to +100%.

  • A notification will now play when your Chieftain dies.


Bugs



  • Fixed an issue where some post-processing effects were applied twice, resulting in blurry visuals and loss of performance.
  • Fixed a bug in the keybinding window where it would report conflicts for certain keybinds incorrectly.
  • Fixed a bug where the “Lock Cursor” setting would only work after reapplying and confirming the setting.
  • Fixed a bug where certain units would stop moving after being upgraded.
  • Char’s Go’n Totem now has a selection circle like all other buildings.
  • Fixed a bug where the Dark Shaman could cast Torment on buildings.
  • Fixed a bug with the Lava Elemental where the explosion would also damage friendly units.
  • Fixed an incorrect setting for the Font on the “Easy” Button for Survival Mode.

Miscellaneous Improvements



  • Char and Mika have received visual improvements to stand out more amongst other units.
  • The size of the Golem has been increased to stand out more.
  • The Meteor power’s visuals have been tweaked to be more impressive.
  • Voicelines will now play when selecting units through Control Groups.
  • The cooldown for voicelines is no longer reset when switching back and forth between different unit types.
  • Talents and Chieftain bonuses are now displayed as banners when selecting them.

Unit Upgrades, Abilities and Voicelines - Patch 0.10.16

Controls



  • New hotkeys for unit upgrades have been added.
  • Added hotkey binding for the new active abilities.

  • Resetting Hotkeys has been expanded. Right clicking a hotkey button in the Controls Menu would only unbind a hotkey. Right Clicking a cleared Hotkey button will now restore it to the default value.

Gameplay



  • Brand new upgrades for nearly all military units have been added!

  • Added the “Stampede” upgrade to the Stable. Upgrades Triceratops Riders to Stampeding Triceratops Riders which deal 25% Area of Effect damage to enemies in a frontal cone.
  • Added the “Rapid Fire” upgrade to the Stable. Upgrades Sabertooth Archers to Sabertooth Assassins which have an active ability that boosts their Attack Speed and Range for 7 seconds.
  • Added the “Rage” upgrade to the Stable . Upgrades the War T-Rex to the Raging T-Rex which has a +2.5 Area of Effect attack.

  • Added the “Elitism” upgrade to the Berserker Hut. Upgrades Berserkers to Elite Berserkers, which deal 50% bonus damage against Large Units.
  • Added the “Tomahawk” upgrade to the Berserker Hut. Upgrades Axe Throwers to Tomahawk Throwers, which have an additional 3 Range.

  • Added the “Theurgy” upgrade to the Medic Hut. Upgrades Medics to Elder Medics which have an active ability that protects a unit for 3 seconds. If that unit dies while the protection is active it will be restored to 50% of its maximum Health.

  • Added the “Eruption” upgrade to the Witch Doctor Hut. Upgrades Fire Elementals to Lava Elementals which have an active ability that slows them down to 5 Movement Speed, stops their attacks and gives +25 Armour for 3 seconds. After this effect ends, the Lava Elemental explodes dealing 50 Damage in an area around it while taking 25 Damage itself.
  • Added the “Blizzard” upgrade to the Witch Doctor Hut. Upgrades Frost Elementals to Blizzard Elementals, which have an Area of Effect Slow aura and more Health.
  • Added the “Curses” upgrade to the Witch Doctor Hut. Upgrades Witch Doctors to Cused Witch Doctors which have +1 Range and +1 Area of Effect.
  • Added the “Charge” upgrade to the Go’n Forge. Upgrades Golems to Assault Golems, which have an active ability that inflicts 50 Damage but boosts their Damage, Movement Speed and Attack Speed for 8 Seconds.
  • Added the “Sorcery” upgrade to the Shaman Cave. Upgrades Shamans to Dark Shamans, which have an active ability that applies a Damage over Time effect on a single enemy unit, dealing 200 Damage over 4 seconds.

  • Towers and Settlements can now be ordered to Focus Fire on a desired target.
  • Medic cost increased from 50 Food and 50 Crystal to 75 Food and 75 Crystal.
  • Shaman cost increased from 50 Food and 50 Crystal to 75 Food and 75 Crystal.
  • Berserker Health increased from 400 to 450.
  • Warrior Health increased from 125 to 150.
  • Fire Warrior Health increased from 150 to 175.
  • Bone Adept Health increased from 110 to 135.
  • Lacerating Bone Adept Health increased from 150 to 175.

  • Poison Archer’s poison Damage over Time effect reduced from 6 Damage over 3 Seconds to 3 Damage over 3 Seconds.

  • Blowgunner Attack Speed increased from 0.62 to 0.75.
  • Toxic Blowgunner Attack Speed increased from 0.62 to 0.75.
  • Blowgunner Range increased from 10 to 11.
  • Toxic Blowgunner Range increased from 10 to 11.
  • Fire Elemental bonus damage versus Ranged Units increased from 25% to 50%.
  • Golem Health Increased from 750 to 800.
  • T-Rex Health reduced from 800 to 750.

Bugs



  • Fixed a bug where unit upgrades would take up population space when being researched.
  • Fixed a bug with the Harvest Power that slowed down unit gather speed rather than increase it.
  • Fixed an issue where saving would not save the uses of the Trading.
  • Fixed incorrect settings for the default audio settings.
  • The Fog of War returning when your unit dies and losing vision of enemy units has been synched to occur at the same time.
  • Fixed a bug where maps for Custom Games would not properly update in the Custom Games list.
  • Fixed a bug where selected spawn points in 2v2 matches were not filled in according to the lobby settings.
  • Fixed a bug where random spawns weren’t really random but based on your position in the Lobby when you join.
  • Fixed a bug where building a Storage Building near Berry Bushes would not make the Workers automatically gather from the Berry Bushes.

Miscellaneous Improvements



  • New voicelines have been added for all human units! There is a 10% chance when selecting them to get a “Special” voiceline. These voicelines cover Move Commands, Attack Commands, Selection, Gather Commands and certain Alerts.

  • Units will now leave behind footprints when they move.

  • Button click sounds are now properly affected by the volume sliders.
  • The Frost and Blizzard Elemental size has been increased to better convey their role as a tanky unit.
  • The slowing particle effect for the Blizzard Elemental has been tweaked to disappear more smoothly.

  • Various units have been altered to make their silhouette stand out more and making them easier to distinguish.
  • Various PFX have been adjusted to be more subtle while also being more clear in showing to which unit they belong.
  • Blood particle effects have been improved.
  • The Cannibalize power PFX have been adjusted to not blend in so much with the regular blood particles.
  • Arrows and other projectiles have received a visual overhaul to stand out more.
  • Scroll bars have been added to the Post-Game build orders to make it clearer that more info can be displayed.
  • The scroll bar for some menus has been stylized to better fit our theme.
  • A default Save Game name will now be filled in when opening the Save Menu.

  • A warning will now appear when the Dedicated Server aren’t available.
  • The camera will now hover over the Settlement without any initial movement.
  • The wiki has been updated to show the new upgrades, models and PFX correctly.
  • Post Game graphs screen has been enhanced to show data better.


Saving and Loading - Patch 0.10.11

Controls



  • A Master Volume slider has been added to the Sound menu.

Gameplay



  • Saving and Loading has been implement for Skirmish Matches vs AI.
  • The score lost upon defeat in a Ranked has been halved. This is to help players reach higher ranks and be less punished when facing new players who are skilled at RTS but don’t yet have the rank to reflect it.

Bugs



  • Fixed a bug where upgrading the Settlement could deduct resources from the player under certain circumstances.
  • Fixed an issue where units would occasionally move forward when ordered to retreat.
  • Fixed a bug where the red particle effect for Food drops from Wild Dinos was not cleaned up properly.
  • Fixed a bug where the sound for constructing a building would loop even if construction was halted.
  • Fixed a bug where Char’s Hotkeys and Mika’s Hotkeys would occasionally conflict with each other.
  • Optimized the way Build Orders are loaded to prevent a possible crash after a long match.
  • Fixed a bug where the “Coming Soon” tooltip remained when exiting a menu using the “escape” key.
  • Fixed a bug where the AI positions in the Lobby did not reset when switching Game Modes.

Miscellaneous Improvements



  • The Fire Elemental has received a graphical overhaul to make team colours stand out more.
  • Subtle footstep sounds have been added to units when they’re moving.
  • The buttons for Difficulty Selection have been widened to better fit different languages.
  • Game Mode is now at the top of the Lobby dropdown settings.
  • Reduced the graphical quality for Mac builds to be more performant.
  • The income graph for resources has been changed from 20 second snapshots to a generalized system.
  • Switching tabs in the Controls menu will now remember the dropdown filter for Faction Specific actions.
  • Significantly optimized AI performance impact.
  • Certain PFX have been reworked to be more subtle.

Patch 0.10.9 Hotfix

-Fixed an issue where you could end up in an endless loading screen when starting survival mode.

King of the Hill mode & Graphs - 0.10.8

Controls



  • Dragging the camera with the middle mouse button will no longer reset it to the center of the screen.
  • Left Clicking a spawn location that has already been filled in the lobby will now empty that location.

Gameplay



  • King of the Hill is now an available Game Mode in Custom Games! Fight to control the Shrine at the top and bring your counter down to 0 first to grab victory!

  • Survival Mode has been altered! Leaderboard position is based on score now. Defeating enemies will earn you points equal to the population cost of the enemy unit.
  • Survival Mode now features 3 Difficulty options that affects the speed and difficulty increase of the waves. Scores are modified based on the selected mode. (Easy = x0.5, Medium = x1.0, Hard = x1.5)
  • The post game screen now features Build Orders and Graphs! Analyze and compare your gameplay with allies and opponents and perfect your strategy!
  • Tower limit has been increased from 5 to 20. Every tower built after the first 5 adds an additional cost of 100 Food and 25 Crystal to the build cost.


Bugs



  • Fixed a bug where units would occasionally stop detecting enemy units.
  • Fixed an issue where the in-game timer will start counting when the scene has been loaded instead of when the loading screen actually closes.
  • Fixed a bug where a penalty wasn’t always incurred when quitting the game through alt + f4 during a Ranked Match.
  • Fixed a bug where switching maps when someone joins a lobby would not show the updated map to the player that joined.
  • Fixed an issue where certain UI elements were wrongly aligned on 16:10 aspect ratio monitors.
  • Fixed an incorrect visualization for the Settlement attack range.
  • Fixed an audio issue where the building SFX were barely audible.
  • Fixed a bug where the arrow fire SFX kept playing for Towers and Settlements after enemies were gone.

  • Deleting units will now show a confirmation warning. This can be disabled in the Settings window.
  • The cursor will now change when having the “Ping Minimap Tool” enabled.
  • The size of the “Max Population Reached” alert has been slightly increased.
  • The Talent Flags can now be clicked on the entire graphic rather than just the icon.
  • The PFX for Fire have been significantly improved to be more visually pleasing.
  • The Survival map has received extra decoration for the lower part.
  • A unique model for Char’s Go’n Totem has been added!
  • A pass has been done over maps to match the terrain with the resource placement.

Survival Mode & More - Patch 0.10.6


Controls



  • AS ALWAYS, WE SUGGEST RESETTING YOUR KEYBINDS TO AVOID ISSUES WITH NEW CONTROLS
  • You can now pan the camera with a hotkey (default key: Middle Mouse Button).
  • A new slider is available for camera panning speed in the settings menu.
  • Hotkeys were added for the “5X Trade” actions.


Gameplay



  • Survival Mode is now available with Leaderboards! Fight of increasingly difficult waves of enemies and make it to the top!
  • Regicide was added as a Game Mode! Be very protective of your Chieftain, because once it’s dead, it is Game Over!
  • You can now see the “Game Mode” in the Custom Games list.
  • Desert Flower has received a visual makeover!
  • Desert flower is now in the map rotation for Ranked matches.
  • All maps have resources moved to be more uniform and consistent in terms of placement and fairness.
  • The lobby window has been improved to allow you to pick your own Spawn Locations on the map.
  • You can now Drag Select enemy units when none of your own units are in the selection, making it easier to scout stacked units.
  • Starting Power for the Deathmatch setting has been changed to 0.
  • Added a delay on the first strike of the Meteor Power and increased the delay on the second strike. The meteors also drop slightly slower so you can enjoy the visuals more.
  • First strike of the meteor power now has the same range as the final strike.
  • Master of Beasts talent Stable Unit cost reduction reduced from 25% to 10%.
  • Completing a damaged building construction site will now carry over the damage to the completed state.
  • Forcefully disconnecting from a Ranked Match will now incur a penalty and count as a loss.
  • Ranked matches now operate on a 90 minute timer to ensure no unnecessary space is taken up on the servers. In results of a draw, no changes to Score will be made.

Bugs



  • Fixed an incorrect setting where Blowgunners had 6.5 Movement Speed and Toxic Blowgunners had 6 Movement Speed. Both variants now have the intended 6 Movement Speed.
  • Fixed an incorrect setting where Archers had 6 Movement Speed. They now have the intended 5.5 Movement Speed.
  • Fixed an incorrect setting where a 5 crystal cost only got added to the Fire Warrior and the Poison Archer. Now the Lacerating Bone Adept and the Toxic Blowgunner also cost the intended additional 5 crystal.
  • Fixed a bug where you could not capture a shrine if the opponent that held it was defeated.
  • Fixed a bug where the Tutorial instructions would not appear for certain Languages.
  • Fixed a bug that caused inaccurate times for “Total Time Population Capped”.
  • Fixed an incorrect setting that caused some Berry Bushes to only contain 500 Food instead of the intended 600.

  • Loading Screens now display fun Dinosaur or Stone-Age facts.
  • A new Setting was added to enable Friend and Foe colours. These Colours are Blue for yourself, Red for enemies and Yellow for Allies. NOTE: This setting cannot be changed in-game, only from the main menu.
  • Removed a duplicate setting regarding Health Bar visibility.
  • Buttons in the Settings Tab now also have Sound Effects.
  • The Fog of War visuals have been improved to be more performant and visually pleasing.
  • A new unique Go’n Smithery model for Char has been added!
  • Made significant improvements to font across the game to be more readable.
  • A [W] or [N] now appears next to a player’s name above the minimap to indicate the faction they’re playing.
  • Tooltips for the “Poison Arrows” and “Fire Weapons” were updated to explain the actual damage effect.
  • The wiki now shows an accurate stat for Attack Speed based on the unit’s attack animations. The number displayed shows off average attacks per second.
  • Tooltips to unit stats were added in the Wiki to better explain their functionality.

Gameplay



  • Land Bridge (2v2) has returned! With a complete visual makeover, this map offers two sides connected by various bridges, allowing more defensive team games.

  • Council of the Wise’s Villager cost reduction and build speed bonus both reduced from 25% to 10%.

  • Effect of Harvest power reduced from 100% to 50%.
  • Harvest can only affect up to 10 Villagers at a time.
  • Harvest can no longer affect allied villagers, only yours.
  • Meteor Power has been adjusted to be more viable. It now consists of two strikes. The first one deals 25 Damage in a small AoE nearly instantly. The second one strikes after a delay in a larger AoE and deals 50 Damage. The second strike’s damage is double against targets hit by the first one.
  • Settlement build cost increased from 400 Food to 400 Food and 100 Crystal.
  • Settlement construction time increased from 45 Seconds to 60 Seconds.

  • Char no longers receives a Zombie when one of his units dies.

  • Fixed a localization error where the “Harvest” power was listed to have 0% effect instead of 100%.
  • Fixed incorrect localization for Meteor and Thunder Powers. Meteor deals 75 Damage to all units, Thunder splits 125 Damage amongst all targeted units.
  • Fixed a bug in Ranked Matchmaking where the APM was always displayed as 0 on the post-game screen.
  • Solved a food income exploit.
