Updated Post-Launch Roadmap
Hello Everyone,
We wanted to discuss the updates you can expect for Chaosbane throughout the rest of the year and early into next year. We’ve updated our roadmap with several new additions (including the new character and new environments), we will describe our goals for some of these in the comments below. So on for more info:
August
Free Content Matchmaking Options + Multiplayer Improvements We’ll be bringing in new matchmaking options that allow you to find groups playing at max level, or search for people in a particular game mode.
We’ve also overhauled the character portraits to show class sprites, character level, and the Steam ID of each player.
This will be released alongside improvements to the overall stability of the matchmaking services, which should make it easier to maintain connections when playing online.
Please Note: Last week we said the matchmaking update would be this week, however we’ve adjusted the schedule and will release early next week.
Random Map Generation Improvements We’re aiming to improve random generation, as some relic hunt / invasion missions are always the same. This isn’t working as intended, and this fix will provide more variety to the level design. This will go live alongside the Matchmaking Improvements.
September
Paid Content Additional Skill Tree Each character will receive an additional skill tree, with new nodes and abilities. People who’ve picked up the season pass will be able to invest points in both God Skill trees.
Free Content Heroic Sets New Heroic sets will be added for each character.
Infinite XP System An Infinite XP system will be added, we’ll elaborate on how this will work in a future dev post.
Reworked Crafting System Our general goal is to make crafting a more integral part of the gameplay, focusing on improving certain skills and encouraging more widespread use of the crafting system.
Preset Skills + Inventory With the addition of new skills, new sets, and other options, we want to provide the opportunity to instantly swap from one build to another. Perhaps you’ll have one build geared for solo play, and one for when your friends join.
October
Free Content Permadeath Mode A Permadeath mode will be added to Warhammer: Chaosbane, this allows users to start a new character and take them through the campaign, but this time the stakes are a little higher. If your character is slain in the battle against Chaos, then their memory will live on in a leaderboard, but you will no longer be able to progress further with that character.
Winter
Paid Content Tomb Kings Winter will herald the introduction of the Tomb Kings content, which will take players to an entirely new location, fighting new enemies, as part of a brand new story that’s unrelated to the main game. We’ll be talking more about this closer to launch, so keep your eyes peeled!
Free Content New Environments, New Class + New Enemies A lot of new free content will brought to the game in Winter, including the new class, new environments and new enemies. We’ll elaborate more on these in the future, but until then who do you think will join the Chaosbane roster?
