Feature Spotlight: Squadplay
There’s no bond quite like the bond between you and your squad. You may fight together, even die in-game together, but you’ll always have each other’s backs. Join us as we take a closer look at squad play in World War 3 in our latest Feature Spotlight!
INTRODUCTION TO SQUADPLAY
World War 3 currently features two different modes. Tactical Ops, which pits five-player squads (for a total of 40 players in each match) against each other to attack or defend capture points, and Team Deathmatch, a classic FPS mode that’s an action-packed, 10-versus-10 race to victory. Though very different, both modes share one thing in common: teamwork is the key to victory.
World War 3 was always envisioned to be a game founded on cooperative as well as competitive play. Even if you fight well solo, sometimes you’ll need to work together to attain victory. We recommend teaming up with squadmates you know for the optimum tactical experience, but you can work just as effectively with a squad you’ve just met.
TIPS FOR EFFECTIVE SQUADPLAY IN WORLD WAR 3
Follow our top tips for working together, and you’ll be taking the battlefield by storm in no time!
Use Voice Chat: Fast response times are critical, and coordinating over voice chat is one of the best, most direct ways to sync with your team.
Issue Orders: Squad leaders can issue orders, so it pays to have a tactical genius heading up your team.
Follow Orders: There’s a good incentive to listen to your squad leader. Follow orders to enjoy bonus XP! Additionally, if you capture objectives as a squad, your capture time decreases for extra squadmate present.
Clear Communication: Let squadmates know about imminent threats, or where to focus their fire.
Focus Your Efforts: Try to coordinate your firepower to attack or defend key positions.
Share Equipment: If your allies need a hand, share your supplies to help them out. You never know when you’ll need to call in a favor, too!
Mind Your Surroundings: Watch your allies’ sixes from the air using flying drones, and even weaponize them to provide top aerial support.
Disrupt Enemy Comms: Use the jammer to disrupt enemy communications, isolate them, and pick them off amidst the technical chaos.
Operate Vehicles: Roll out together in vehicles and tanks to reclaim the streets and battlefields. You can assign and adopt different positions such as driver and gunner, too.
Deploy Strikes: Make it safe for your squad by launching artillery and other strikes to clear areas out before moving in to clean up what’s left.
Teams who master the art of cooperation will find a world of tactical possibilities at their disposal. Squad up and prepare to fight in World War 3!

Feature Spotlight: Gunplay
Firefights are the beating heart of World War 3. Join us as we take a closer look at gunplay in World War 3 in our latest Feature Spotlight!
INTRODUCTION TO GUNPLAY
From the thrill of outmaneuvering enemies at close range to the relief of landing that critical shot, we want every key moment, every attack countered, and every shifting tide of battle to feel immersive and rewarding.
To that end, gun gameplay in World War 3 (gunplay for short) strikes a balance between fun and what we like to call playable realism. For example, you’ll have to adapt to different levels of recoil depending on whether you’re firing from the hip or aiming down your gun’s sights. Scoped weapons equipped with realistic magnification and red sightlines may also require you to hold your breath for a better shot.
After a short time getting to grips with these weapons, we hope that the realistic elements will become second nature to you.
WEAPON TYPES
A balanced, carefully considered loadout is key to effective combat in World War 3. Raid your arsenal and load up with different types of weapons, including:
Assault Rifles
Shotguns
Sniper Rifles
Light Machine Guns (LMGs)
Submachine Guns (SMGs)
Designated Marksman Rifles (DMRs)
Specials (e.g. Rocket Launchers)
Secondaries (e.g. Pistols)
WEAPON ATTACHMENTS
There are various types of attachments that can alter the performance of your weapon to suit different playstyles and battle scenarios. Switch between primary and secondary sights to tweak your battle approach, and practically guarantee your kills with the use of holographic sights.
Looking beyond sights, you can try out different weapon grips, muzzles, silencers, and even bipods for steadier shots. Need a better read on a target? Switch lasers and flashlights on and off for better targeting and visibility.
If you’re wondering how to juggle all these weapons and attachments, don’t forget about your Backpack! Use it to bring additional gear in battle and adapt your tactics on the fly. Try out different loadouts to find the best tools to help win the fight!
FIRING MODES
If the enemy team is giving you grief, you may need to switch up your tactics by changing your firing mode:
Single Fire: Allows you control and assurance while maintaining a low rate of fire.
Burst Fire: Fires more powerful and controlled shots every time you pull the trigger.
Automatic Fire: Switch things up to 11 with a continuous firing rate, which is great for providing covering fire and taking enemies down quickly and with extreme prejudice.
Outwit and outgun enemies by experimenting with different firing modes!
AMMUNITION
While your standard ammunition is good for most combat engagements, you can also gear up with special ammo. Bring secondary ammo like hollow-point bullets into battle, and save them up for when you need an especially lethal shot.
You can’t rely on specializing in a single weapon to attain victory every time. Switch up your weapons and try to master different types, especially in different situations such as close-combat and long-range sniper battles. Adapt to survive and win in World War 3!

Feature Spotlight: Traversal
Sometimes outgunning your enemies isn’t enough. You may need to outmaneuver them, and knowing where and how to move could make all the difference between victory and defeat. Join us as we take a closer look at traversal in World War 3 in our latest Feature Spotlight!
INTRODUCTION TO TRAVERSAL
Any FPS worth its salt has a smooth and responsive movement system, and like every other aspect of World War 3, we set out to achieve a tangible level of realism in player movement. We wanted players to consider their loadout by having dynamic factors in play, including armor and loadout, which can impact their speed and stamina.
Your mobility, which is your ability to easily and swiftly get around on the battlefield, can be affected by your weight. Depending on your loadout, you might be able to sprint quickly through dangerous hotspots. With a heavier approach, you could also move slowly yet methodically from cover to cover, waiting for an opening to launch a counter-attack. However, while heavier armor will protect you at close range, it will also make you vulnerable at long-range, and an easy target for faster players to outflank.
Try to optimize your loadout for the best approach!
METHODS OF TRAVERSAL IN WORLD WAR 3
Whether you’re fully upright, crouched, prone, or on your back, there are a wealth of tactical traversal options and positions available to you:
Sprinting (Press ‘Shift’): Run like the wind.
Fast Sprinting (Press ‘Shift’ twice rapidly): Hotfoot it out of danger, or even towards it… but watch your stamina.
Crouch Sprinting (Press ‘Shift’ while crouching): Move faster while remaining cautious and covered.
Prone Sprinting (Press ‘Shift’ while prone): Get moving quickly from a prone position.
Vaulting (Press ‘Spacebar’ while close to an obstacle): Don’t let obstacles stand in your way. Effortlessly vault over obstacles and ledges while walking, sprinting, or fast sprinting!
Climbing (Press ‘Spacebar’ while jumping towards a ledge): Clamber up on ledges or towards the higher ground for a better vantage point, or to make your escape.
Leaning (Press ‘Q’ or ‘E’): Need to get a better shot or check out potential danger around the corner? Lean into it!
Freelook (Press ‘Alt’): Survey your entire surroundings while you’re vulnerable to watch out for enemies.
Prone Position (Press ‘Z’): Keep a low profile to avoid enemies’ lines of sight or get the jump on them.
Prone-to-Back Position Change (Press ‘A’ or ‘D’ while prone): Feel like someone’s watching you? Quickly switch from a prone position to lying on your back to cover your six.
Use your knowledge to tear enemies a new one in close combat, or silently stalk the shadows and strike decisively when the time is right. Combine what you’ve learned to become a master of traversal in World War 3!
