We do plan to reduce the project size as well, but we can not guarantee this. Our goal is to reduce the current size of the project by 2gb.

Why this has taken as long as it has is due to school, my personal health, and being the sole person working in-engine. Thus, I have had a bit more time lately to work on this update.

For now, this is all. Till next time!

About the download size

We are aware of the download size, and come 0.1.1.15 we will make sure to find methods to reduce the overall size. Currently, the project is at 21 GB at version 0.1.1.1, and the update itself being 8 GB.

The frame drops on the -Omitted- Island map

There is frame drop on the island map. It is at an interval of roughly once a second. It does progressively get worse. This issue is due to a bug in our AI. We are currently removing our old AI and replacing it from scratch. This will come in a Hot-fix soon, and we really hope to squash it out once and for all since it has plagued us since the first alpha build that included the Island map.

News - 1/24/2018

Upcoming plans

An update on the current patch. We are hard at work to make it include many additions and fixes. We have recently decided to re-do our AI in hopes it will fix one of the biggest issues with the frame rate. Currently, we are unsure of the exact cause, although we have found that it may be the AI or the foliage. We have planned to replace the foliage eventually, and as for the AI, I will be thorough and clean as I possibly can.

We do use Blueprints to program the project, and C++ could help us fix a lot of major issues. So I will be taking some time to create AI that is C++ based or we will figure out an alternative.

What does this mean for the updates? Nothing too out of the ordinary, in fact! We will be adding a lot, from aquatic hunting, to several new areas to hunt. Time of day and weather effects are in the game as of now and some of the feature will be present in the upcoming update.

Progress so far!

Matt has recently been hard at work and has now completed a majority of the audio for our 20+ animals in-game! And our newcomer, Jonathan has animated Apatosaurus and the new T.Rex model along with creating audio for the T.Rex. Jonathan also developed a new soundtrack for our main menu! I am incredibly excited to implement all of these, the Main Menu will also feature an update too! Charlie and Moreno have also worked hard on the weapons. Moreno is getting a ton of new explosives done and the last few weapons. Charlie and I will be working together soon to get the trailer done. Thus, we are quite literally on the verge of Early Access and I couldn't be more proud of my team! The UI is next on our list to update, however, we have much to implement before we go live; I will leave you all with this.

A Mysterious Hunt has been discovered!

A theropod has been spotted, but only in unconfirmed reports from hunters in exclusive areas. This theropod appears to have been never documented before, appearing to have long arms with sickle like claws, and quill-like spines along it's tail. We are awaiting more reports on this creature.

Happy holidays 2017

As we move on to 2018, we want to take a moment to reflect on the changes that we have done this year.

Changes in 2017:

  • Optimized several features, from the AI to adding additional LODs to each model
  • Refined several details in The Valley and -Omitted- Island map.
  • Removed several features that were redundant
  • Removed several files that bloated the overall size of the project
  • Added two new dinosaurs, Parasaurolophus and Dilophosaurus
  • Revamped two dinosaurs, Tyrannosaurus Rex and Carcharodontosaurus
  • Added a ton of much needed audio
  • Added our first large scale map, 10km squared
  • Optimized said 10km along with adding breathtaking detail We only need to optimize our code, and then you will have that glorius smooth fps!
  • Retweaked our AI to use a standard controller, increasing framerate and core workload when adding new dinosaurs
  • Added several new weapons along with a whole new set of animations for the hunter
  • Upgraded the crosshair and particles
  • Added Steam Support, this was a very big deal to us as it helped open the door for multiplayer support Which is planned to be in the final release

These are just a few of the several additions throughout the year, and I would really like to commend my team for doing an amazing job! We hope to see you all next year with a lot of major updates!

Here is what you can look forward to in the next update:

  • Pistol has audio again
  • Removed the constant breathing from the triceratops and stegosaurus
  • Fixed the attenuation of all audio, menu music volume reduced, and audio is now no longer disorientating. However, volume level may still be an issue in-game, so please adjust it to a suitable level before playing.
  • Fixed the issue with 4k resolution being selected when selecting 1920x1080, and 1080p causing graphical issues if 4k is available.
  • Fixed the issue with fullscreen not updating when selected

*- Most of the fixes and additions are already finished; however, we may save things for another patch/hotfix/update. So this is not set in stone.

Update 0.1.1.0 is now live!

We apologize for the delay, we were able to add a lot more than originally planned because of it; but some parts are still missing. We will be adding those as they are made in hot fixes. The current update 0.1.1.0 has been difficult to work on, but has breathed new life into the project as we have now added unlockables! That means we have moved from a sandbox where you can hunt a T.Rex from the get go, to a more creative game that requires the player to find creative ways to unlock many features. We will soon implement the hunt gallery where you can find all the hunts you have chosen to keep, and a better hint system; in part to the new unlock system.

- Updated AI for Dimetrodon

- Hunt menu bugs (I.E. choices not carrying over, wrong map being ultimately chosen, prices being miscalculated)
- Fixed AI attack spheres

An audio update will come out soon that will add audio to each animal that has none or is missing any. We had to relieve Rolland as he had to move on and didn't have spare time for WOGD. We thankfully were able to have Matt come back on the team to help out for the time being. As such, this was one of the reasons for the large gap between the last update. The others being new techniques I learned, and revamping our old system for the animals. Which has helped us optimize the game better and allow it to run on more PC's. We want to thank you all for bearing with us, and we hope to see you at launch soon!

Please note that these may not be every change, more exact changes like AI values, and smaller fixes and updates are not noted. In future hot fixes and releases we will be able to note that

REMINDER This is the last update to contain multiplayer until further notice.
