PRIORITY FOR NEXT UPDATES

New animation set.

G one ! Five up ! Magic Snake ! Your voice in the game. Give your record now.

In this announcement, we propose you to have YOUR voice in the game.

Step by step, we continue to improve the game. The rhythm is the one of a 2 devs studio, but fully motivated.
In this sprint, we want to work on the “look and feel” of the game.
We are integrating a new set of animations, to replace our old “duck style walking style” by something more realistic.

On the other hand we want to add new sounds to help in the game comprehension.

The idea is to add the voice instructions players use in real life, like:
- « G one », « G two », … when players are out.
- « Four up » when you are still four in your team.
- « Magic Dorito » when there is no opponents on the Dorito.

It could be cool that you participate to sound recording. If you want YOUR voice to be one those, then simply record it as you can (your phone, or a recorder, at higher quality possible).
Put your recorder at some meters and scream out loud the instructions, with one or two seconds of break between each one.
Send your record(s) to dir-tech@xfield-paintball.com
List of instructions:
G one
G two
G three
G four
G five
Five up
Four up
Three up
Two up
One up
Magic dorito
Magic snake

Feel free to suggest more instructions.

In english for the moment, whatever your accent ;-)

Patch Note Version 3.04: New servers, Gameplay improvements

Availability date: September 25th 2017.

Summary:
This update is dedicated to integrate some of the most priority community feedback:
- New regional servers: West Europe and North America. Very soon South America, South Africa and South East Asia (before Game server code release for the community).
- Gameplay adjustments following player’s feedback.
- Bug fixing.

NEW FEATURES

Server browser

The new server mode introduced in the last 3.00 version receives some patches in this version.
We open new areas to play with fewer lags:

  • First North American and West Europe.
  • Then South America, South Africa and South East Asia.

Hosting a XFP3 server

Some of you already asked us for hosting an XFP Server (South Africa, New Zeeland, Brazil…). This new server browser mode makes this technically possible soon, which could be very interesting for areas out of current XFP official servers coverage.
If you are interested to host an XFP server, please let us know.

Gameplay

  • Important information: In order to focus on the core gameplay balancing, and to increase the effective gaming time, we temporarily deactivated the prebank time in the game. As a consequence, there is no captain role, and no profile (rusher, tactician and shooter) in this current version.
That way, you immediately start to play and shoot when you click “Join Game”.

  • Strafe speed : + 20%

  • Walk speed : + 20%

  • Hand switching speed : + 20%

Ergonomic

  • New fixed kill camera.
  • Chat window modified.
  • Display key setting in UpperCase only (don’t take care of the case).
  • Hide chat control is “<”.

Patch Note Version 3.0: New server mode and Gameplay improvements

Availability date: September 8th 2017.

Summary:
This update is dedicated to integrate some of the most priority community feedback:
- Improving the gameplay to increase the effective gaming time.
- Reducing the waiting time before finding a match on the server.

NEW FEATURES

Server browser

New server mode to reduce waiting time before finding other players on the server.
The new item in the main menu is “Join Game”.
It is very different compared to previous “Quick Play” mode.

  • You choose the server you want to play on. A server hosts a set of layouts (1 or more). We start with a standard set of 3 layouts, but this architecture is flexible, and will be adapted to the community whishes as soon as we will have a sufficient number of players. When a server contains a set of layouts, layouts are played the one after the other one.
  • You can see how many players are in each server. For example: 7/10 in “2017 World Cup layouts”.
  • You immediately enter a game when you click “Join Game”. There is no need to be the maximum number of players. Whether there are 0 or 9 players on a 10 players server, you enter the game without waiting.
  • That way, every new player starting XFP3 can immediately see the right server where he can find players to join.
  • As a consequence, you can have a odd number of players at some times.
  • If a player has to leave, the match continues.
  • This new architecture main purpose is to give an immediate access to a field at any player joining the game. But it has other pros. We could have many servers with a different setup each, concerning speeds, precision, … and physics like gravity…

In this mode, you can invite friends to join you, simply telling them the server you play on.

Please note that the “Quick play” mode is temporarily deactivated, in order to group the players on this new mode. The studio starts with 1 server, but will pay attention to the number of players to increase this number when necessary. When the community will grow up, it will be possible to open again the Quick Play to be more scalable.

Hosting a XFP3 server

Some of you already asked us for hosting an XFP Server. This new server browser mode makes this technically possible soon, which could be very interesting for areas out of North America or Western Europe, where lag is too important to play on our official servers for the moment.
If you are interested to host an XFP server, please let us know.

HUD

  • New main Menu:
    - Join Game (new menu, instead of Quick Game)
    - Walk in the Field --> deactivated
    - Leaderboard
    - My profile
    - Settings (updated)

  • Brand new speed, times and precision management tool developed by the dev. That way, Loic Voulot, our paintball expert can now ask for gameplay adjustments to the dev for every key actions in the game. Compared to previews versions of the game, it’s no more neecessary to build an update to improve the main parameters of the game. This allow us to be much more reactive with the community feedback. This is a key factor to make the game more realistic and fun to play, and also to increase the playing time in each round. The objective is to make the players using the bunkers more efficient than running and shooting, like IRL.

  • Precision is better when you shoot without moving. It decreases when you walk, and decreases again when your run (… like IRL ;-)

  • Precision is better when you shoot crouch or laid down than stand up.

  • New move “Speed boost”. We reduced the run speed, because it was too easy to win moving while running. To still have a possibility to quickly reach a position, we introduced a new “speed boost”. But, to keep it fair and balanced, it is time limited (0,5 s) and you can’t shoot when you use it. You have only 2 speed boosts per round, and a gauge informs you of how many boosts you used.

  • Run is limited to 3 seconds, then speed reduces and fog appears in the goggle.

  • Lean and snap and jump amplitude have been increased.

  • Hand switching is now automatic when you lean left or right.

  • You can move while leaning. Very useful to adjust your position.

Ergonomic

We had much community feedback on this point. Basically, we completely changed the keybindings, to comply with standard FPS controls.
Moreover, we make all key actions available in direct control. It is no more necessary to use the “Cover Mode” to lean or snap or switch hand.

  • The SHIFT key was previously used to activate the cover mode, and CTRL to run. We heard you and SHIFT is now the Run key, which is more comfortable.
The idea to encourage the play with the bunkers remains an important point of the game… as the IRL paintball indeed. But we manage it now with more classical controls, taking into account community’s demand.
  • The Cover mode remains available, but with CTRL. You still have a precision bonus in this mode.
  • Classical WASD to move remains unchanged.
  • Snap (when lay down or crouch) or Jump (when stand up) on SPACE, as requested by the community.
  • Lean left or right on direct control Q and E.
  • Switch hand on direct control 3.
  • More simple avatar’s position changing, as requested by the community. Press X to change to lower position, and C to higher position.
  • TAB to get ingame stats.
  • ² key to display network stats.
  • New team chat ingame. Press ALT to display, and ENTER to share. “/all” to share with all the players.
  • Current layout name is written on left bottom corner.
  • All layout names have been renamed with standard name $Championship_$Event_$year.

BUG FIXING

  • Mouse sensitivity setup is now functional.

Upcoming important update: What's new?

This summer has been dedicated to lots of improvements in the game!

Thanks to all of you who helped us by your feedback, on Steam, Discord or Facebook, and also in our survey shared in July.

Here are the 2 main issues we worked on:

- Balancing the game play (basically, the waiting time was too long, and the rounds too short).
- Reducing the waiting time before finding someone to play with on the servers.

What is soon to be released ?

- A completely new keybinding, really matching community feedback.
- Speeds and moves adjustments, with new moves possible (like strafing while leaning).
- New server mode : QuickPlay is temporarily deactivated and a new Server Browser mode appears. Click "Join" on 5v5 layouts, and immediately enter the game, whether you are 1 or 10. That way, every new player arriving joins you. And besides, you can choose your layout and tell your friends to join you there.
- We temporarily deactivated the tactical phasis before each round. We know this is cool, but is was one of the reason why players was complaining to have to much waiting time. We will activate again in the future, but only when the core gameplay will be well balanced.

Now the priority is to maximize the gaming time.

After many months of R&D, these last days to setup the moves' speed with Loic Voulot were very exciting. We look forward to releasing the patch note and invite you to test ;-)

Thanks for your support!
The Studio.

I can't certify we already will have the next update yet, but we work hard on it!
We hope to see you soon.

New price validated by Steam

Hello everyone,

Following our last message, we just wanted to let you know that our new "early stage" price has been validated by Steam. The new price is now $9.99 (USA) and € 9.99 (Western Europe). See the price for your country on the store.

If you want a paintball video game on PC, it is a good time to make it happen together.

We are comitted to XFP3 & to you.

A brand new start : price & commitment

Hello XFP Community,

As soon as Steam price policy enabled us, XField Paintball Studio took a very important step with its price, taking into account your comments, the early stage of the game and our objective to make a unique paintball game on PC. We are certainly biased, but we think we accomplished a few major R&D intensive objectives that lay the ground for the future of XField Paintball -- a unique fully customizable engine with all the paintball physics and low latency servers technology. This is by no means enough to make a good game but it illustrates the fact that we have heavily invested in the future with very differentiating tools.

Even if we didn’t get the Steam « badge » for Early Access, this is obviously how the game has to be considered.
Assuming this position, the game is now priced at $9.99 (USA) or € 9.99 (Europe) for as long as the game is considered an early access game. This brings us to advise those who do not want a game in development to wait before joining our community. We want to be sure everything is working as intended. This period will end when we achieve the quality targets we are putting in front of us -- a game that is competitive, enjoyable, fair and as fun to watch as it is to play-.

In order to keep our capacity to finance the development of the game and the cost of servers, please be aware that there will be no promotion on the game during that time period. By announcing this, we are hoping this accomplishes two things: First, we hope that people will not feel like they’re about to make a mistake if they pay $9.99. The game will have lots of new updates before we switch to a new « release » price. Second, we hope that people who feel like waiting for Winter Sales promotions can make a more informed judgment. If they’re waiting for the price to go down to, say, $7.99, they can decide whether waiting 6 months is worth $2. To some it will be. To others it won’t. And that’s fine. We’d much rather people make informed decisions with as much transparency as possible than feel any buyer’s remorse, because we need our customers to feel good about what they’re buying. We’re all in this together.

Paintball players ! Come and play the game today 5v5 starting 8pm Central Europe Time or 2pm East Coast Time! Test the 2.074 update (see yesterday’s patch note), take your rank on the scoreboard and have fun while supporting a paintball video game on PC.

We all make mistakes. It takes some courage to admit them and even more to correct them. This is where we are heading, taking a brand new start. Show us your support if you agree.
