Pressing the delete key on the keyboard when editing a planet or asteroid field will remove it from the system. Currently only works if the system has not been saved yet.
Early Access Build 0.1a
Complete restart of project. This update includes the "Cartographer app" a tool that is used to create star systems in game. This is not the game itself but a modding tool. The next major update will include a new ship hull designer. The next major update, 2nd major update after this current update, will include the first space sim content.
Users can place 3D objects on a 2D grid to map out a star system. When saved a .html file is created that stores the data. The space sim game, when released, will load the data from the .html files to create the star systems in game. Users can also load the .html files back into the Cartographer app.
Known bug: When loading in a star system's .html file and then making changes to the star's position and then saving again causes the export of data to fail. Looking into it. A star system's .html file can be changed manually as well. It will load into the Cartographer app.
Announcement: Game Update Coming Soon
4XST Shipyard will be a space sim game. Explore, trade, fight, build. It will be built to use player created content. The update coming at the end of this June will sadly not have any space sim game play in it. That will come later. The end of June update will see the release of the Cartographer app, a stand alone application that will be used to create the star systems used in the game. A level editor if you will. A screenshot of the development build of the Cartographer app is below.
The screenshot is of the star system level editor, the Cartographer app, not 4XST Shipyard game play. The star systems will not look like this in game. Players will be able to use the Cartographer to design and add their own systems to the game or do a complete overhaul and make the game into their favorite sci-fi universe as far as the galaxy map is concerned. Other tools will be released later on that will allow players to easily mod other aspects of the game. The Cartographer app will also allow players to set values of raw material resources available on planets and stellar objects for harvesting. This is important as various products for trade and ship components will be produced from these raw materials. This will be the foundation of the game's economy.
When a star system is exported/saved to disk it is saved as a web page in html format. The space sim game, upon starting, will take the different web pages that make up each star system in the galaxy/sector map and create a space environment based on the information. This of course means players won't have to use the Cartographer app but can create their own star systems simply by creating a web page and following instructions that will be available when the space sim is released to have it loaded in the game.
The web pages the Cartographer app outputs will be bland and very simple. This is so anyone, even players who may not have any experience with web development, can design their own game maps if they don't want to use the Cartographer app. CWDI GAMES decided on creating the game environment this way as it will be easier for players/modding communities to share maps for total conversions of the game.
The update for 4XST Shipyard planned at the end of June 2021 will be the beginning of a new game and will only have the Cartographer app.
The second future update, after the June update, will see a new ship/hull designer.
The third future update will be the first early access release of the space sim.
CWDI GAMES is committed to bringing this game to release and putting more enjoyable content on STEAM.
