Final touches!

Well I'm almost done, the only things missing are the campaigns now (and some general improvements of course), here's what changed though:


  • Added Comments to Map editor, text that can only be seen in the editor and won't be shown ingame, useful for advanced maps.
  • Triggers marked with "Starts Active" != 0 will now be activated after "Starts Active" seconds.
  • Added move camera trigger (controlled).
  • Added Discover trigger, it clears out the Fog of war in it's area (controlled)
  • Added more resource color/sprite variants.
  • Improved and optimized resource generation.

With this pretty hefty update the Engine level stuff is all done, also almost all the planned triggers have been added along with other improvements to a lot of stuff.
Also, We have a main theme now! Yay!

Anyway, here's what changed:


  • Added an option to set the AI difficulty in the gameplay options.
  • Added sound for dialogue triggers.
  • Major trigger performance improvements.
  • Greatly expanded active trigger capabilities by implementig a sort of "Permission" System and a Reset system.
  • Greatly increased the possible amount of triggers in a map, they are now based on a draw budget.
  • Added Armor, weapon and Stalagmite props.
  • Added 2 new types to the AI: Aggressive (2) and Defensive (3).
  • If set on Normal or Hard, the AI will now contextually use unit and hero abilities.
  • Made the AI smarter. It will now for example conduct naval invasions and build farms when it can't find any Berry bushes.
  • War rafts can now explode.
  • Added resource set trigger.
  • Added resource add trigger.
  • Added resource sub trigger.
  • Added unit set stats trigger.
  • Added unit add stats trigger.
  • Added unit sub stats trigger.
  • Added end of level trigger.
  • Added parallax effect to main menu.
  • Berry bushes can now spawn on the main menu.

Triggers, Titles & Undeads

This patch took quite a lot longer than i would have hoped, but it's one of the biggest and final steps towards the final release, so i'm pretty happy with the results!

Here's what changed:


  • Completely remade the triggers system. It is now a lot more powerful and versatile than before.
  • Added Text "triggers", they do nothing and don't interact with units, they just show text.
  • Rebuilt the tutorial map using the new Triggers system.
  • Added Map Title and Subtitle, big text that appears at the start of a map.
  • Added Map options to the editor, lets you change the title and the subtitle of the map.
  • Added the Undead soldier, a weak barbarian melee type unit that slowly regenerates hp
  • Added the Necromancer, a powerful barbarian unit that can harvest the souls of enemy fallen units to create undead soldiers.
  • Added the Undead Colossus, a very strong melee barbarian unit that loses hp over time, unless it kills something.
  • Added the Occult Temple, a barbarian building that spawns Necromancers and Undead colossuses.
  • Added the Oracle stone, the laboratory for the Barbarians.
  • Added the Necromancy ability to hero active abilites.
  • Explosions now shake the screen.
  • Added a visual representation of the researched upgrades.
  • Added the possibility to kill your own units / destroy your own buildings by pressing Delete while hovering on an unit/building
  • Optimized ability system.
  • Changed some ability descriptions.
  • Added a new Hero weapon, the Great hammer.
  • Slightly increased the Train time for the Royal Academy.
  • Added 2 new tiles: Blue and Red.
  • Added 2 new songs to the soundtrack.
  • Added coordinates of the cursor on top of the minimap in the level editor.
  • The colors of ingame menus are now less Eye-hurting.
  • Slight performance optimizations.
  • Editor performance improvements.
  • Bugfixes.

A small patch


  • Added control clicking: press control to copy the attributes of the entity the cursor is hovering on.
  • Added 2 new songs to the playlist.
  • Pressing 'M' will now allow you to change the currently playng music.
  • Water effects from enemy boats covered by the fog of war can no longer be seen.
  • Fixed tutorial not working.
  • Fixed camera starting position to be where the obelisk/king/Warlord/Hero is.

Before adding in the triggers, i realised that i would need to massively improve the perfomance in order to implement them in a passable way, so here's this new update! Here's what changed:


  • Improved the look of ingame menus.
  • Optimized shadow rendering (it's 20% more efficent now)
  • Major performance improvements due to changes to how the Fog of War is rendered (it's 2 to 3 times faster than before).
  • Unit performance optimization when loading maps.
  • Made the fog of war slightly darker.
  • Increased population limit to 120.
  • Added the stone tablet prop
  • Bugfixes.
