Hello Ground Handlers!

Santa's sleigh may be fast, but it's got nothing on your ground handling skills! 🎅✈️

Wishing you a jolly and turbulence-free Christmas filled with smooth landings and baggage that magically arrives on time.

May your holiday season be as stress-free as an empty runway! 🌟🎄

P.S. Santa has given our team some time off, and we are spending it with family and loved ones until the 2nd of January! See you in 2024!

The Grinch stole Santa's sleighs and has a contest for you!

We hope you've enjoyed the first AirportSim DLC, Rovaniemi Airport, with its beautiful scenery in the heart of Lapland, because we've prepared a contest that takes place on its tarmac!

Where usually this is the time to spread Christmas cheer, we want to have some fun with the Grinches out there. So, start and wreak some havoc in this usually jolly season under the theme “Christmas Gone Wrong.”

The only limit of today's contest are the borders of the Rovaniemi Airport.

We are eagerly waiting for your screenshots on Discord and Instagram until the 29nd of December.

After the 29nd of December we will choose three screenshots from each channel and the voting for the Grinchiest Grinch starts! You will have two days to vote for your favorite “Christmas Gone Wrong” screenshot!

We've got a pretty good prize for you - a special and limited edition of the AirportSim Game on the CD!

To make it clear, here are the exact rules:

A Grinch has split the contest into two channels: Discord & Instagram.

There are two prizes - one for each channel.

The theme of the contest is “Christmas Gone Wrong” and it takes place at the Rovaniemi DLC Airport.

Discord:

  • Post your screenshot in the designated #contest channel on Discord by the 29th of December.
  • We will then choose three screenshots in-house.
  • Next until 2nd of January, you will have the opportunity to vote for the best “Christmas Gone Wrong” screenshot.
  • The Grinchy winner will be the person with the highest number of votes.
  • We will contact the winner for their address details and send the prize in the first week of January.

Instagram:

  • Leave a comment under the contest-dedicated post with the text “I’m a Grinch” to let us know that you're participating in our contest!
  • Post the screenshot on your profile by the 29th of December and tag our @airportsim channel.
  • Not leaving a comment or failing to tag us in your screenshot means you are not participating in the contest.
  • We will then choose three screenshots in-house.
  • Next until 2nd of January, you will have the opportunity to vote for the best “Christmas Gone Wrong” screenshot by leaving a comment under the posted chosen screenshots.
  • The Grinchy winner will be the person with the highest number of votes.
  • We will contact the winner for their address details and send the prize in the first week of January.

Also, the winning screenshots will be featured on our social media channels!

Now do not wait any longer! Go into snowy Lapland and find your inner Grinch!

We are waiting for you on our Discord & Instagram Channels!

AirportSim Patch Notes 1.2.1

Hello, Ground Handlers! We have some hot fixes for you. These fixes are not only our work but also yours, as we opened a Beta Testing a few days ago. For those who didn't know that, please go to our Discord. For those who know, let's see what we improved this time:

Overhaul to the aircraft movement system:

  • Now, aircraft can move freely around the airport. Their movement is based on who will be the first to reach a certain crossroad to avoid head-on collision oncoming aircraft. If an aircraft is going to reach that intersection later than th first one, it will stop near it or further down the road to give way to oncoming traffic.
  • Before the pushback task is activated, it checks if other aircraft have finished their pushback in its vicinity and if the aircraft driving on the taxiway is far enough to start the procedure. If both conditions are met, your task will become activated.
  • When the pushback task for the player is active, other aircraft will stop at the nearest crossroad and wait for the pushback to be completed before moving further.
  • Added a new UI notification in the Operations tab in Tablet. Now, whenever Pushback or Follow Me is active, a small icon will flash on the aircraft that is ready to perform that operation.
Other:

  • Fixed a camera bug for the marshall on Rovaniemi for stand no.9.
  • Fixed a bug on Rovaniemi where some aircraft stopped after exiting the runway (this occasionally caused players to be kicked out of multiplayer).
  • Corrections made to the LODs on the A320 Neo.
  • Corrections made to the paths on various airports.
  • Minor corrections made to the scenarios.
  • Correction to displaying aircraft list in Operation list in tablet. Previously if player selected time in scenario editor but didn't place departure or arrival destination "ghost" aircraft would show up in Operation list
  • Correction to floating aircraft that awaits for pushback from player

AirportSim - We have a gift for you!

Another Thursday, another round of news and improvements! After a pretty long delay, our latest update has made a smooth landing. And this week, we have an extra holiday surprise for you!

If you’ve seen our Roadmap, you’ll know that a new airport is set to release this year, so strap in because you can now anticipate its arrival!

And the best part? It will be soon! Because someone told us that this little gift to the community might come early and arrive next week!

Think you know what it’s going to be? Check out the screenshot and leave your best guess in the comments!

Of course this week also comes with some patches: We've developed new movement logic for the airplanes! We've reworked the entire system to add more dynamics to the game, letting you simultaneously handle multiple departures and arrivals. Additionally, planes will now check if specific paths to the runways or gates are available. If so, they'll be cleared to taxi. If the ground becomes too busy, or if there are delays in player operations, landings will be delayed.

We've added Roaming Planes to all airports as well. Now, you'll see planes performing operations in the background. They'll arrive and depart while you serve the dedicated machines.

If you want to read the full patch notes, you can find them here.

Now, let’s get back to work, ground handlers! Multiple operations are waiting!

AirportSim Patch Notes 1.1.2 - Something New Has Arrived!

Hello, our hard-working ground handlers! Let's take a 5-minute break to check out what’s NEW and fixed in our Patch Notes! We think it was worth the wait and hope you do too! Let’s start with what’s new:

  • New: Movement logic for airplanes allowing multiple operations simultaneously.
  • New: Roaming planes added to all airports.

We told you that we see your suggestions!

And the rest, which is no less important:

  • Fixed: [Multiplayer] [Pushback] Players cannot start plane engines manually.
  • Fixed: [Multiplayer] [Luggage, Cones] When multiple players are trying to take one pickable object, sometimes it causes interaction bugs, making it impossible for players to perform any other interactions.
  • Fixed: [Marshalling] Planes do not depart after the marshalling task has been completed upon arrival.
  • Fixed: [Walkaround] After confirming the walk-around, randomly occurring item events are not despawned, preventing player interaction.
  • Fixed: [Scenario editor] Fixed bugs related to checking tasks in dual task groups such as GPU, Stairs, and Jetway.
  • Fixed: [Luggage] When a suitcase is opened while on the conveyor belt and then picked up, it continues to move as if it were still on the belt.
  • Fixed: [Freeplay, Warsaw] Passengers, instead of walking through a Jetway as they should, get to the plane via the apron.
  • Fixed: [Cargo A320] Opening the tablet while adjusting cargo doors (Q/E) can cause the game to freeze.
  • Fixed: [Pushback] Enlargement of the area marker
  • Fixed: [Pushback] When the pushback task starts, the aircraft's aft wheels begin to slowly lift off the ground
  • Updated: Sounds for Cobus 2: Wipers, Indicators On/Off, Handbrake On/Off, Enter/Exit, Buttons.
  • Added: Refueling sound.

Pretty nice Patch Notes, right? There's something more in our latest blog! Check it out here!

Thank you for taking this break with us. You may now return to your ground operations work!

See you!

Patch Notes Delayed

Hello Ground Handlers,

We have some good and bad news today. Let’s start with a good one first.

Our new plane movement system is now finished, however during multiple tests both with single and multiplayer we found out, that this logic needs some improvements. Now we queue the planes, consider pushback clearances, user defined planes and these flying in the background.

Bad new is that we have to postpone the release by some time to test it properly and eliminate all the bugs. There are thousands of possible scenarios which will have to be considered. Lucky, we’ve made some great tools to speed it up!

Here's a sneak peek of what we're working on and how it looks like:

You can see the planes simulating traffic flow without any player input. This new system is based on path finding with some segments occupancy being applied.

We apologize for the inconvenience, but our goal is to deliver a significant improvement and we want to avoid bugs. Our team is diligently working hard on these updates every day.
