Hey everyone! I'm pleased to announce that BET 0.5 is out now! This is our most significant update yet and I'm so excited for you all to play it. This update lays the foundation for lots of future content. As always, expect bugs for the first few days, I am always humbled by the community's ability to find a laundry list of bugs each update. Technically, the update was released last night at 9:00 PM EST, but I have held back from making a big announcement while I fixed some pressing bugs. Enjoy!

BET 0.5 Delays

Hey everyone! I wanted to come on here and apologize for the delay. A ton has changed with this update and there has been a mountain of bugs and over oddities today. We want this update to receive the level of polish it deserves, so we have decided to release it to the Beta branch first, tweak gameplay, and fix unforeseen bugs.
I know many of you were excited for a Halloween update and I apologize. That being said, an update should be going live to the Beta branch in the next hour and I will post another announcement once it's live. Expect lots of bugs. Sorry again and I hope you all understand.

Edit: We have pushed back the official release time for this update to November 1, 2023 9:00 PM EST. This gives up time to give this update the last coat of polish it needs. Very sorry again. And also, happy Halloween

Massive Update Releasing on Halloween!!

Exactly one year ago today, BET was released. I never could've imagined that a year later, 50k+ people would've played my small Backrooms game I decided to make in a month. But here we are! BET's ambitions have only grown and this update brings us one step closer to those wild dreams.

As the title states, we are releasing our much anticipated "huge" update on October 31st, Halloween Day. Thank you everyone for your patience as we have long eclipsed our target dates. During this 4 month period, we've rewritten, overhauled, and refactored almost all of our core systems in the project. A TON of work has been put in to make the future development of BET faster and higher quality. We've effectively planted the seeds for BET to blossom into the most realistic survival horror experience on the market.

All of this backend work means unfortunately this update is systems heavy rather than content heavy. This doesn't mean that there is no content though, because as promised, this is our biggest update yet. We could've kept the update in the oven a little longer to put the exclamation mark on new content, but we believe a "Part 2" is more appropriate than making everyone wait two more months.

Teasing Our Biggest Update Yet and Announcing New Playtesting Positions

Hey everyone! It's been a bit!

We've been super busy here working on lots of exciting things! We have two levels in the works that are close to done and we have been investing a ton of resources into our infrastructure to help accelerate development by a significant margin. So where are the updates?
For this next update, we want it to be a big one. Unfortunately, that's going to mean holding back some content for a bit. We hope this next update changes the way the game is played significantly. So for a little teaser, here are some planned features that will make their way into this next update:

  • Multiple New Levels
  • Inventory/Sanity System
  • Branching Paths
  • Revamps to Old Levels
  • Various Quality of Life Improvements

As a final note, we have never released an update as big as the one we are planning to release and will need to expand our internal testing so the update does come out as a buggy, boring mess. That being said, I wanted to announce our new volunteer playtester job openings. BET 0.3.3 + Next Level Announcement

Hey everyone, I am excited to announce that our next level will be the poolrooms! You all overwhelmingly voted for it in the Discord and we are excited as you are. This update will probably be the last minor update until we are ready to release the next level :). See you then!

  • Increased Total Number of Generation Seeds from 10,000 to 1,000,000,000, Meaning there are now 1 billion possible level generation patterns, for each level.
  • Significantly Overhauled Level 0's RNG Calculator to Provide a Far More "Random" Statistical Distribution and Less Repeating (Ok none of you probably care about this but this means things are truly random now!)
