Bhavacakra Maco

Version 0.1.4 Wolf

Here is the game world map. It is not accessible in the game yet. I am debating whether it to be a purchasable item or add a quest to it.

Anyway, this patch completes what I can add to the guild until 0.2.0 hits. Any further guild quest will have to be restored after 0.2.x since it will involve Cizna region which is not going to be covered in 0.1.x.

For the rest of 0.1.x line, I am now going to focus on Alcella island and its quests. The island has an orc settlement, and there are numerous side quests involving orcs and the scholar's guild. As things stand, I am on track.

What has been restored/added:

1. City Fadin has been restored. It's completely empty for now just as everything else on Alcella island.

2. Guild quest “Akatoob” restored. Any further guild quest will have to be restored after 0.2.x since it will involve Cizna region which is not going to be covered in 0.1.x.

3. A new side quest “Tobas crisis” added. It can be triggered after “Liberate Tobas” guild quest.

4. I’ve added level checks in early zones. Once you pass a certain level, you will no longer face random encounters.

Below is a list of changes/fixes

1. A minor bug in Log delivery quest fixed. The issue was the guild board not indicating that the quest was completed.

2. A bug in Chef’s woes quest fixed. The issue was being unable to turn in the required stuff to someone.

3. Maco's ingame title "Maiden" was misspelled. I've corrected this but you won't see the change until you restart the game. I can certainly do a force database refresh but the issue is quite minor that I've decided not to bother.

Version 0.1.3 Wolf

Some side quests are now being tracked in “Thoughts” on menu.

What has been restored/added:

  1. Alcella republic capital, Alca, restored. It’s south west of Valura.
  2. Guild quest “Healer in demand” restored.
  3. Guild quest “A chef’s woes” restored.
  4. Guild quest “Log delivery” restored.
  5. A new side quest “Rifi the ill girl” added but not completed. This is a long quest that will potentially take you to all over the (game) world.

Version 0.1.2 Wolf

I played the game from the start to sort out minor bugs and stuff. So, this is more of a polish update.

What has been restored/added:

1. Guild quest “Liberate Tobas” restored.
2. Guild quest “Loud neighbor” restored.
3. Character quest “Jasmin’s story” restored.

Below is a list of changes/fixes

1. Bug fixes in an escort guild quest. This quest was messed up, code wise.
2. Scout Tobas quest had a bug, fixed.
3. Various smaller fixes were made as I went through the game again. Readjusted random encounter rates in places. Overall fix/correct counts were well over 10.

Version 0.1.1 Wolf

This patch mostly adds what I’ve been holding on, adding interiors to cities and adding more NPCs.

What has been restored/added:

1. A side quest “Little revenge” restored.
2. A side quest “Worrywart” added.
3. A guild quest “Scout Tobas” restored.
4. The first Alcella city, Valura, has been restored. It is accessible from Ezona by a boat.

Version 0.1.0 Wolf

Welcome to 0.1.0.

All characters (28 of them, added one more in the last minute) have been imported and are complete with skills.
With 28 of recuritable characters, there are around 450 skills combined.
What it all means that restart should no longer be required, which means I can now recommend you to play it and can finally get this game moving forward in content.

My goals now before reaching 0.2.0 is to complete restoring the second nation, Alcella republic, and adding interiors as well as NPCs while adding quests.

Finally, a new title screen CG has been created and replaced the old one. The first one was, if you’ve seen it, a battle scene with Eton guild members. This one is a battle scene with Cizna guild members. The first one is available at the artwork section.

Version 0.0.9 Wolf

Character import progress. It wasn’t 22. It was 24. I miscounted. In addition, there are also 3 more characters who you can have in your party but cannot control directly. So, it’s really 27 total although those three characters don’t have much skills to worry about.

Out of 27 characters, as of this patch,
25 have been imported.
25 are complete with skills.
It’s almost there. However, I seem to be having a burnout effect, so I am slowing down after this patch.

What has been restored

1. Mystic forest has been restored. This zone introduces four new “monsters”: Fire, water, earth, and wind spirits.

- Nothing of note in this patch -

Version 0.0.8 Wolf

Character import progress.
Out of 22 characters, as of this patch,

18 have been imported.
15 are complete with skills.
It’s worth while to mention that I do not actually recommend playing the game now. Wait until it hits 0.1 at least.

What has been restored

1. Town Tobas is restored. Only Mystic forest is left to restore for the starting nation. Then I will focus on adding interiors before moving onto the second nation, Alcella.
There are five nations total.

Version 0.0.7

Character import progress.
Out of 22 characters, as of this patch,
13 have been imported.
4 are complete with skills.

What has been restored
1. City Ezona has been restored. The starting nation, Etonia, has almost been restored. Two zones are left, town Tobas, and Mystic forest.

Version 0.0.6 Wolf

It took me a while to sort this out but here goes. Prepare for a wall of text.

Wolf engine has three databases. The first two are live; They are always connected to the game and changes made by me are reflected in the game.
The final database, however, is static, meaning the game reads it only once when you start a new game. It copies it, stores it in a file, and goes it from there.
This static database is where character attributes, resists, skill learning levels and skill assignments are stored. Well, there are more but those are my primary issue.

You see, the game has 22 (so far) characters who you can recruit. And designing skills/spells for each of them is an ordeal on its own because I don’t want them to be identical.
Normally, I add character skills as new ideas pop up, but that cannot easily be done here with the database being static.

For an example, if you are playing the game and, when I add characters and skills later, those are not reflected in the game. MV didn’t have this issue as there was a java script command to refresh its database at will.
As far as I can see at least for now, there is no such command in Wolf engine.

Regardless, I’ve managed to solve this issue crudely. I’ve tested it and it works. But this is not a method I am keen to use often. It requires exporting (only) changes in the database and importing it in the game by players or automatically.
I do not want to use that method frequently because it can get really messy as the game develops further and further.

Therefore, my priority altered a bit. So far, my priority had been restoring maps above all else.
My top priority is now converting and importing recuritable characters. Out of 22, 10 have been added as of version 0.0.6 and only two characters (Maco and Gwynn) are fully complete with skills.

I am going to add all of them before hitting 0.1.0 and give them skills up to around level 40-ish and then let them learn further skills via books, events, and trainers.
This method should eliminate the need to restart frequently.
If I do happen to add more characters later, it will be done via database export and import in background.
Well, with the wall of text outta way, let me patch note begin.

What has been restored
1. Ezona pass has been restored. This zone includes Red turban bandits who are the main protagonist for early game.

Below is a list of changes/fixes
1. An escort quest has been added to the guild. It was something I’ve always wanted to add in the MV version of the game but with the party restriction (4 members) and an inability to make a party member automated prevented me from doing it. Wolf engine has what I need to make this happen.

2. I’ve decided to remove lightning element all together to simplify the damage calculation a bit. Additionally, there was only one lightning mage in the game (Luca). Designing a whole new damage calculations for a rare element felt over the top. Luca will be a wind mage instead.

Version 0.0.5 Wolf

The restoration goes on.

What has been restored

  1. The largest zone in the game has been restored. It’s a long road between the temple of Affection and the fort Vollin. Its size is 190 by 100. In MV version, I had to split that zone into two separate ones due to tileset limitations.
  2. Spa village, Alderin, restored. This also means a side quest between Rathbone and Rathchick is restored which also means the bath scene can now be unlocked.
  3. Fort city, Vollin, is restored.
  4. Guild quests, “Hide delivery” & “Eton sewage cleanup” restored.

Below is a list of changes/fixes

  1. Wind magic has been fundamentally reworked. You can read the full explanation on one of the game PDF files here. The gist is that wind magic will no longer do just “wind” damage. Instead, it’s been categorized into two types.
And wind resistance will be based on character weight.
