New Features



  • New Map: Building Site
    - New dynamic map for all game modes. Appears in White Wasteland and above in ranked games.
    - Paths change every round for a new layer of strategy.
  • Bling season 8
    - New ranked season with 12 new bling items including Plushie ZOMG, Foam Party emote and Lucky Tower Boost.

General Changes



  • Removal of Hall of Masters placement matches
    - Players who reach 100 Trophies will see their place on the Hall of Masters leaderboard after their first game played in the Hall of Masters.
    - They will no longer need to play 3 games before being given a score on the leaderboard.
  • MOAB Skin Damage States
    - We received feedback that it was difficult to tell how damaged a MOAB class bloon was when it had a custom skin equipped.
    - We have reworked several MOAB skins so that their damage states more closely resemble the base MOAB damage states.
  • Pregame ad offers
    - Players will now sometimes be offered the chance to watch an ad before a game to enable a one-time boost on that game’s rewards. Players on desktop can use reward tokens to enable these boosts.
    - Players will now sometimes be offered the chance to watch an ad before a game to temporarily unlock all heroes and alts for that game only, allowing them to try out heroes they have not purchased. Players on desktop can use reward tokens to do this.
  • New Starter Pack IAP
    - Players can now purchase a special, one-time bundle of Monkey Money, Battles Points and 7 days VIP along with an exclusive Dart Monkey placement animation.
    - This bundle is time limited and will no longer be available once it expires.
    - This bundle is designed to help new players get started in Battles 2 but it will also be available to experienced players.

Balance Changes



    Hero XP

  • The in-game XP required for heroes to reach each level has been increased in early levels and decreased in later ones. This means that it will take longer for heroes to reach level 10 and unlock their ability, but the time it takes to reach level 20 will remain approximately the same.
  • This is to allow a bigger window for sending rushes like BFBs before the hero abilities become available to counter them.

    Bloon Sends


  • Spaced pinks: eco reduced 1.8 -> 1.5
  • Spaced whites: eco reduced 1.8 -> 1.5
  • Spaced blacks: eco reduced 2 -> 1.6
  • Spaced purples: eco reduced 4 -> 3.5
  • These bloon sends were giving farm income too much of an advantage over bloon income. Farm users can use spare cash on farms and so could afford to use these slow, but incredibly efficient, sends. Eco users do not have the cash to put into farms so they have to resort to the faster, but less efficient, grouped bloon sends.
  • Spaced and Grouped BFB: $2.2k -> $2.1k
  • Tight ZOMGs: delay between bloons increased 0.2 -> 0.3
  • Tight ZOMGs: $10k -> $12k

  • Fixed first tutorial progressing incorrectly after Quincy is placed.

  • Fixed currency amounts on hero showcases showing as red even with enough monkey money and hero points.

  • Daily freebie now shows what reward it will give before being claimed.
  • Related to the above change, the randomization algorithm has been updated. This may lead to past Daily Rewards showing as different to what was actually claimed.

Bug Fixes



  • Fixed matches that have not finished when the season ends counting towards the leaderboard. Matches will only count if they have reached a conclusion before the season ends.

New Features

General Changes



  • Tower Unlock Changes
    - The Tower XP system has been through a number of changes since Battles 2’s launch while we tried to find a good balance of unlocking new upgrades through play while always having access to a variety of strategies. Ultimately, this hasn’t worked as well as we’d have liked and so we have decided to overhaul how towers and upgrades are unlocked.
    - Purchasing a tower will now unlock all upgrades up to tier 4 immediately. The Monkey Money cost of all towers has been increased to reflect this increased value.
    - Once the tower is unlocked, all 3 Tier 5 upgrades can be purchased at a flat rate of 1500 Monkey Money per tower.
    - Tower XP is now only used for purchasing Mastery cosmetics.
    - Any players who have already purchased a tower before this update will immediately unlock all upgrades up to tier 4 for that tower for free.
    - Any players who have already purchased one or more tier 5 upgrades for a tower before this update will immediately unlock the remaining tier 5 upgrades for that tower for free.
    - There will be an IAP option for players who wish to bypass the Monkey Money cost and unlock the tower and all of its upgrades immediately.
  • Alt Unlock changes
    - We intended for Hero Alts to be a satisfying final step on the hero rewards track but as strategies have emerged that rely on the gameplay differences these alts have over the main heroes it has become clear that the process of unlocking them is too long.
    - All Hero alts will be available alongside the main heroes in the hero screen and will no longer be connected to the hero rewards system.
    - Alt Heroes will cost Monkey Money and Hero Points from their main hero. Hero Points can be gained by playing with the main hero or found in chests, event rewards or the daily reward.
  • Tier Restrictions Removed
    - All upgrade tiers can now be used in any arena.
    - This restriction is no longer necessary now that upgrades do not need to be earned.
  • New Event UI
    - The events system UI has been redesigned to accommodate future event types and allow clearer signposting for new players.
  • New Daily Freebie
    - Visit the store every 24 hours to receive a small amount of Monkey Money, Battle Points, Tower XP or Hero Points. There is also a Battle Chest that can be claimed every 4 hours by watching an ad (or using a reward token on desktop).
  • Added score value to Hall of Masters Leaderboard
    - Players in the Hall of Masters can now see their score on the leaderboard.
    - The post game screen will show how much the Hall of Masters score increased or decreased as a result of that game.
    - Note: this is not the same as the ELO value used for matchmaking but it is derived from skill and used for placement on the leaderboard.

Update 1.4 Out Now - TWO NEW EVENTS & MORE!


New Features



  • New Event: Speed Battles
    - A new limited time event that really turns up the pressure!
    - All bloon sends unlock 1 round earlier
    - All bloons move faster
    - Income from eco is given more often.
  • New Event: Play with Fire
    - A new limited time event that will seriously challenge your strategy.
    - All bloon sends (both yours and your opponents) are sent to BOTH players.
    - Using a bloon boost will affect your sent bloons on both sides.
    - All bloon sends are worth 2x eco (including negative eco)
  • Bling Season 6
    - 12 awesome new cosmetic items to collect!
  • Changes to Ranked Seasons
    - As mentioned in the 1.3.3 patch notes, ranked seasons are changing with the start of Season 6
    - There will now be a break between seasons. During this time ranked play will be disabled but casual, events and private games will still be available.
    - A special preseason event will run during this time with rewards of Battle Points and Monkey Money.
    - When Season 6 starts, your trophies will be reset to zero and you will be given a starting bonus equal to 75% of the trophies you had at the end of Season 5.

  • Dartling Gunner
    - The Dartling Gunner has been a prolific tower in the Battles 2 meta for a long time. We increased its pierce in one of the earliest updates to make it a viable starter but this resulted in it being the most dominant tower in the meta and it has had several nerfs to try and bring it back to the power level we intended. This update reduces the price and base pierce back to its original values with the intention that Dartling can be used as a starter but will not be able to hold off early waves as effectively without upgrades or help. We have increased the pierce of xx2 Powerful Darts to allow it to keep its potency in the mid game.
    - Base: $900 -> $750
    - Base: pierce reduced from 3 -> 2
    - xx2 Powerful Darts: pierce increased from +3 -> +4
  • Wizard Monkey
    - 3xx Arcane Mastery: $1.3k -> $1.2k
    - 3xx Arcane Mastery damage type changed from energy -> plasma (now able to pop leads)
    - 4xx Arcane Spike: $10k -> $9k and +4 damage to leads/DDTs

Battles 2 Update 1.3.3 - Patch Notes!

Update 1.3.3 is starting to roll out on iOS, Android & Steam!

New Features



  • Changes to Ranked Seasons

- As of the end of Season 5, there will be a short break between ranked seasons.

- The reason for this is to allow the game to be updated without it interfering with the current season’s meta. We noticed that releasing an update with significant balance changes, bug fixes or a new hero a few days before the season ended created a lot of unpredictable tumult in ranked mode which was unfair to those players who had been perfecting their strategy over the course of the season.

- The season break will usually only last for a day or two to allow the update to go live on all stores. During this time, ranked matches will be disabled but casual matches, events and private matches will still be available and can be used to experiment with new heroes or tower balances in anticipation of the new ranked season.

- During the season break you will be able to view your final trophy count and arena as well as the final rankings in the Hall of Masters leaderboard for the previous season.

- A special, limited-time event will run during the season break which will reward Battle Points and Monkey Money. This is to give players a way to earn these rewards while their usual source (ranked games) is unavailable.

- When the new season begins, your trophies will be reset to 0 and you will receive a starting bonus equal to 75% of the number of trophies you finished the previous season with (to a minimum of 20).

- The starting bonus is mostly a messaging change rather than a mechanical one. Players have always started a season with a fraction of their trophies from the previous season, only the value is different. We did this because we want it to be clear that a new season is a fresh start with a starting bonus based on past performance rather than an arbitrary reduction in trophies.

- The exception to the above rule is players who finish in the Top 100 of the Hall of Masters. Those players will receive a starting bonus of 100 Trophies, putting them immediately back into the Hall of Masters. This is being done so that the Hall of Masters will start with a pool of players in it already and there won’t be situations where the first players to arrive struggle to find a match. This will also mean that former Hall of Masters players who start the season at 75 trophies in BFB Colosseum won’t need to compete against the top 100 players in order to get back into the Hall of Masters.
