Boneraiser Minions

Mischievous Monday #11

Welcome back wretched. :]

A new class has been added called the Doll Maker. They can't make use of the usual minions (except for Barrow/Bro), instead they waxraise minions taking the form of the human heroes you face. Peasantry are your mainstay which can be upgraded through the ranks, from peasant, to knight, to paladin. Fanatics whirl their ball around and slow enemies, Flag Wavers speed up nearby minions, while Wizards blow their magical loads. Hero souls are used to upgrade peasants/knights/paladins into a champion form, and eventually you'll be able to waxraise your very own High Wizard and Lord of the Land. There's also 5 achievements added related to the new class, and I snuck in a sneaky challenge run achievement too (Horoscopeophobia).

There's been some upgrades to the Clashful Cards game mode. You can now choose to play it 2 player with a local human taking the place of the computer, and this should work with Steam's online Remote Play Together. It now has a tutorial as well as a shop where you can buy and sell cards, and when starting a game you now have the option of redrawing your cards up to 3 times.

Some misc bits and bobs...
- Settings: Added a 3840×2160 4k resolution option.
- Added a help tip recommending you check the Settings -> Gameplay for visibility options.
- Necrotic Skirmishes: Slowed down the rate bones stop dropping from enemies (since in the previous MM update runs were made longer by default).
- Cyclop class - Zogziech Affinity: This meta now allows you to summon any number of Zogziech minions, however you can't summon Azgideth.
- Cyclop class - Cylops Exile: Tweaked the offered choices when boneraising (slightly increased chance of a Bonebolster, slightly decreased chance of some special minions like giants/melds/diablos to increase variety).
- Changed the Haunted Burials and Blood Blooms meta descriptions so they talk about the new minions they raise (as it was very vague).
- When picking up a Hero Soul the boneraise menu top is now coloured differently so you're less likely to mistake it for a regular boneraise (notably with the Cyclop class).
- Flying enemies are now immune from Impling claw traps, and the speed at which snared enemies free themselves is now based on their health (so later game enemies are freed quicker).
- Impling traps will now disintegrate after 60 seconds if they haven't been set off.
- The cool down from super dashing is now increased by 50% during a boss fight.
- During a boss fight the Jewellery Box now won't create slimes and Barrow Diggers now won't dig.
- The beginning Blacksmith will no longer sell the following relics as they just promote constant restarting for some classes (Enboned Heart, Virginial Bow, Bernard's Watch, Ward Amulet, Horoscope Charm).
- Enboned Heart relic: The hard cap limit on its max health boost has been replaced with a soft cap (so will still give a boost but just more slowly the bigger the boost you have).
- Bottled Fairy relic: The amount of bottles that can be used per run is now capped to 3 (previously there was no limit since they are removed from your inventory when used).
- The Giantan Meldusmous/Mucusoums now count as giants for the purposes of the giant minion cap.
- Treasure Chest contraptions will now randomise their type at the start of the run (rather than just when they are created).
- The Blood Pact relic description now mentions only discovered relics will be given.

And some bug fixes...
- Cyclop class - Zogziech Affinity meta: This was increasing the Deamon minion cap by +1 (instead of +2).
- Fixed some minion idle movement issues when there's a lot of minions.
- Bodily Fluids spell: The created slimes could sometimes get stuck (eg if a bird was over water).
- The Blacksmith, Wandering Merchant, and Loot Box relic, could give relics you haven't yet discovered.
- The Blacksmith upgrader would appear if you had that meta level at 2 (should only be at level 3), and had a rare chance of offering you the same relic in different slots.
- Buying a Jewellery Box at the Blacksmith would create issues (as it would create slimes even if the menu was still up).
- In some maps like the Royal Causeway, minions could sometimes clip through blocking objects (like walls).
- Cyclop - Divine Divination meta: The Sealment and Banishment Scrolls weren't converting into re-rolls.
- The Sealment/Banishment scrolls were being removed from your inventory when used.
- The game window wasn't centering correctly when changing resolution.
- The Liche Necromancer class unlock could sometimes not immediately trigger (eg if the last skelly minion came from a Penitence Pin).

Enjoy! :]

Patch v10.2

//misc
- Cyclop class: When boneraising there's now a greater variety of minion offered.
- The various special enemy stage Survival achievements can now trigger at level 2+ meta (instead of only level 3).

//bug fixes
- The various special enemy stage Survival achievements and Cyclop class unlock weren't triggering if that stage was interrupted by another special stage.
- Status Screen: Moving to the second page of minions could cause a crash.
- Cyclop class: When choosing an item the seal/banish values were still showing if you don't have the Divine Divination meta.
- When buying/upgrading a relic from the Blacksmith it wouldn't immediately update the effects of some relics (eg flame orbitals).
- When taking a Blood Pact relic it was ignoring the Forged Soul relic.
- Archeotech Mode: When deploying a contraption it wasn't updating the limit until after you moved, and would still display the cost if you had reached the limit.

Patch v10.1

//bug fixes
- The minion cap number when choosing a boneraise was only showing if the Pro HUD setting was on.
- Casting the Chest Royalifier spell when there aren't any chests would cause a crash.
- The Cyclop Skirmish Endurer achievement wasn't triggering.

Mischievous Monday #10

Welcome back wretched. :]

A new class has been added called the Cyclop Exile. He's rather unique in that he only gets a single option when offered a boneraise/relic/spell, though has an affinity for re-rolls and mono-eye minions, and starts with a magical club for pummelling peasants.

There's been some changes to the Necrotic Skirmishes game mode. The maps are now unlocked via scoring in the Mausoleum Awakening, mainly just so you can get a feel for the mode early on rather than you only seeing the different maps well into the game. The default game has a slower difficulty ramp so it lasts a bit longer, but each new map uses the same progression as NG+ so later maps have an increased amount of enemies, more health, and higher blessed chance. Hopefully you can find a few maps catering to your pace of play now.

There's been some balance changes to the New Game Forever mode so the later loops onwards are exponentially more difficult (just to truncate the mode since by loop 3 you'll most probably have a full minion line up and running out of relics). Enemies now do more damage which is increased exponentially for each loop, and enemies will also get progressively more numerous and faster from loop 3 onwards.

A new boss has been added called the Kenshi Shinobi who can show up instead of the Lord of the Land once you've beaten him. The Shinobi is skilled at both shuriken and blade so might want to keep your distance.

Added a new skelly minion along with his deamonous form called the Colt Coiler, who blasts arcs and bolts of electricity that can travel through numerous meanies.

Added 5 relics: Meldus Spores, Meaty Club, Forged Soul, Sinicious Ritual, Blooden Emerald.
Added 2 spells: Meldus Sickness, Chest Royalifier.
Added 6 achievements related to the new boss and Cyclop class.

//general rebalancing
- Health regeneration (eg from Fruity Bro) is now reduced if you have a lot of health.
- Meldum Afflicted - Meldantua Quickening: The speed boost is now random and you start with less speed.
- Meldum Afflicted - Meldantua Invigoration: The max health boost is now random and you start with less max health.
- Meldum Afflicted - The Meldantua Depravity meta (increased minion attack speed) and Meldsum Injections meta (+3 meldus minion cap) have been removed.
- Vampire Soulsucker - Blood Thirst: The sucking damage is now halved if you currently have invincibility frames. Reduced the max health boost gained if you already have a very high max health.
- The Blacksmith Lacky will now sell/upgrade 2 relics (instead of 3).
- Wanted Poster: In a Mausoleum Awakening reduced how many extra enemies show up when you have more than 1.
- Royal Chest: Reduced the chance of it spawning a special item.
- Ghost Watchers/Summoners: Reduced how many spawn and how quickly they can summon ghosts.

A couple of misc stuff...
- When choosing a Boneraise it will now show if there's a max cap associated with that minion type and how many you currently have.
- Added a x2 font for the title header texts (eg the top text when choosing a game mode).

And some bug fixes...
- Trying to use a sealed skelly minion level up if you no longer had a minion of that type would cause a crash.
- The Blacksmith seller could cause a freeze if you had almost all relics when starting a New Game Forever loop.
- Meldum Afflicted - Meldisoom Secretions: You could create new meldus minions even if you had reached the cap.
- On the New Game Forever ask menu opening then closing the Escape Menu would also remove the ask menu.
- Boneworld Challenges: When choosing a boneraise/relic/spell it wasn't fully randomising all options.
- Status Screen: Minion pages above the first page weren't showing the correct skelly minion level.
- Fixed a rare issue during the King's intro were it could push you down to the bottom of the level.
- Effects that reduce your max health wasn't also reducing your health if it was above the max health.
- Bernard's Watch relic: Getting multiple item menus in quick succession would give a lot of invincibility frames.
- The Blacksmith upgrader could mistakenly offer a Loot Box.

Enjoy! :]

Patch v9.4

//bug fixes
- It was possible to get the Meldin Time achievement as the Meldum class.
- If the Blacksmith upgrade menu popped up but you had no relics to upgrade then it would cause a crash.
- The Wandering Merchant would cause a freeze if you had a lot of relics already.
- The falling King could push you and your minions down into a Giant Pot Bro thus trapping them.
- The upgrade Blacksmith could offer a Blood Pact which was pointless.
- The Boned Magnet relic wasn't initially having an effect if bought from a Wandering Merchant or Blacksmith.

Patch v9.3

//bug fixes
- During the King's death sequence there was a chance it would switch your class to the Meldum (which could affect things like leaderboards and class related achievements).
- The Meldum Escapade achievement wasn't being triggered.
- Status Screen: The Relic paging wasn't working correctly.
- Boned Magnet relic: This wasn't updating to the correct size when starting a New Game Forever loop.
- Mugger enemies weren't dropping gems upon death.

Patch v9.2

//bug fixes
- The Gnoblin Lootas Wyrm was causing a crash when it spawned in a Mausoleum Awakening.
- Fixed a rare "Unable to find instance for object index" in Par_Minion crash.
- Upgrading a Penitence Pin in the Blacksmith Lackey menu would cause a crash.
- The Blacksmith Lackey upgrade screen would pop up even if you had no relics to upgrade.

Patch v9.1

It seems the latest GameMaker update is stopping some Steam online elements from working (leaderboards and achievements). I've backdated the GameMaker version and it looks to be working fine now.

Also...
- Hovering over the Deamonic Ritual Boneraise Lore would cause a crash.

Mischievous Monday #9

Welcome back wretched. Bit of a bits and bobs update this Monday to catch up a bit with some misc stuff and feedback suggestions that have been building. :]

2 new Boneraise Lore meta have been added. With the Blacksmith Lackey you'll now need it in order to get duplicate relics, and during a Mausoleum Awakening you can buy relics from him at the start for gold coin, and he'll offer to duplicate relics later on during the run. The Chi Wisdoms improves some of your basic abilities, namely chest unlocking speed and grants an extra invincibility frame when hurt, as well as creating a shockwave after choosing a boneraise/relic/spell so there's less chance of you losing yourself in the fray.

The previous Bone Gang Bandits Heroic Force has now been split into their own three metas. Each of the bandits, zombies, and ghost watchers waves, will be backed up with their own elite enemies at higher levels (muggers, ghouls, and ghost summoners).

In Architect Mode the contraptions now first need to be unlocked via spending gold coins to research them (to bring them inline with the other meta and reveals them as you play rather than them all being shoved in your face early on). In New Game Plus many of the maps now also come with a few default contraptions already placed which can't be moved and now also count towards their max contraption cap (so each map plays a bit differently rather than you just placing all the same contraptions in every map).

There's now 3 types of treasure chests. The normal one which works as before except there's now a small chance of it containing a relic or spell scroll, a pauper chest which is quicker to unlock but contains less gems, and a royal chest which takes longer to unlock but contains extra gems and always a special item. There's also a chance chests may contain occult hearts instead of a special item which increases your occult health when touched.

Some misc stuff and changes...
- Added 2 achievements (Meldum Escapade, Contraption Research Fulfilment).
- New Game Forever: Slightly increased the amount of enemies that show up in successive loops, but slightly decreased the amount of bones that drop to compensate (so overal balance is successive loops get more difficult).
- Changed some descriptive terms so it's easier for new comers to understand some concepts. For example tormented souls are now referred to as hero souls (since they are basically the same thing). Normal minions are now described as skelly minions. Tidied up some of the Boneraise Lore meta unlock descriptions related to the special minions.
- Reduced the amount of gold coins gained from very high scores.
- Fixed a bunch of incorrect grammar usage of "thou" and "thee".
- Status Screen: You can now scroll through pages if you have a lot of minions/relics.
- MELDIN TIME acheivement: You now understandibly can't use the Meldum class to get this.
- Archetech Mode: Reduced the max cap on Lamp Posts, Monument Haunts, and Royal Lamp Posts (combined they're a bit much). Reduced the cost of Cursen Eye.
- Marrow Succor class meta: Added an extra reduction to its max health boosting if you somehow get your max health over 999.
- Chestious Spellious class meta: The chance of the treasure chest containing a free spell scroll is now based on how many spell scrolls you currently have.
- Manic Mime minion: Now has less chance of miming Barrow Diggers (since Wretch can get so many of them).
- Giant Potoussy Bro minion: In the Forsaken Mausoleum map he'll now spawn further down so he's less close to the top wall.
- Blessed enemies are now slightly less affected by status effects (eg slowness, confusion, etc).
- Ghost Watcher enemies now have a cap on how many active ghosts they can summon, and their ghosts can no longer be sucked by the Vampire class.
- Heavenly Vessels enemies now have a slightly reduced chance of creating lightning upon death (as it was a bit too many).
- Midas Touch spell: This no longer requires the sacrifice of Barrow Boners and the Doppleganger minion can now also cast it.

And some bug fixes...
- Collecting a lot of pickups causes lag spikes, in particular if they increased your max health (eg honey or bones if you had the Enboned Heart relic).
- The Ring of Fire relic causes lag spikes if there was a lot of muddy poop on the map (eg from the Unrelenting Dysentery spell).
- Meldum Afflicted class: The Penitence Pin could cause a crash if it activated the Meldisoom Secretions meta.
- Wandering Merchant traveller: Having a lot of relics when he appears could cause a game freeze (again!)
- The Journey Into Beyonds meta was allowing you to play New Game Forever at level 1 and 2 (instead of only at level 3).
- Gangly Grafted class: The Bonemeldus Singleton boneraise offer was very rarely showing up, and he mistakenly had access to the Fusemeld Singleton meta during play.
- The Roaming Travelor events weren't immediately updating your max health.
- Royal Causeway map: The top clock would clip through the King.

Patch v8.3

Sorry New Game Forever score chasers! There was a bug were going beyond the second loop would create a separate leaderboard for each successive loop. This wasn't intended, instead there should be a single NGF leaderboard no matter how many times you loop. This is fixed now but unfortunately scores beyond loop 2 weren't being submitted to the correct leaderboard.

//other bug fixes
- Wandering Merchant traveller: Having a lot of relics when he appears could cause a game freeze.
- Some of the King's attacks weren't gaining the NGF damage multiplier.
- Rat Lightning Totem: If it was turned into a Slime then it would leave behind a phantom collision blocker.
