Brawlout has left Early Access!
🎉 It's happened! 🎉 We're out of Early Access with version number 1.4.7! (What's a 1.0, anyway?)
First up on the changelist, Yooka and Laylee join the bottomless brawl! With a handful of devastating options for dealing with opponents right above them and Yooka's ability to eat and fire back projectiles, we see Yooka as a character with great doubles potential, as well as the tools to be incredibly disruptive against players who rely too much on projectiles.
In addition to Yooka and Laylee, we've added four more variants to the roster!
Brawlout launches out of Early Access on August 21st!
With the big launch comes an even bigger update, which we’ve been cooking the last 6 months!
5 new playable characters:
Yooka-Laylee
Sting’ra
Funkmaster
Ripjack
Gancho Puncho (Paco’s cousin)
New stage:
Tribalstacks Tropics
Major reworks on the unlocks system: no more gems!
All stages are unlocked from the start
You gain XP much faster
Character Variants get unlocked super early, by leveling up the base characters to level 3-5
(It usually takes one arcade tower to reach that level. For example, if you level up Sephi’ra: at level 3 you unlock Natu’ra, at 4 Nightma’ra and at level 5 you unlock Sting’ra)
Plus tons of other changes and tweaks:
Spike canceling (you can press Jump or do a recovery while in hitstun to avoid being spiked and fall below the stage)
Character balancing across the board
Performance improvements
Faster loading times
Random stage select
Ledge hogging (for Yooka-Laylee now, coming soon to the rest of the cast)
It goes without saying that we're tremendously excited to unleash our baby upon the world after four years of hard work, but for us the full Steam launch is just the beginning. Keeping players entertained is our number one priority, and we'll be working tirelessly to bring you even more modes, characters, and tournaments as Brawlout continues to evolve in the future.
Brawlout got here only because of Craig! And Syphon! And Yoehn! Okay, Meowmix too, and Hodor! Yes, Hodor had his influences too! Thanks to the real Brawlout VIPs: Oliwonder, D. Patch 1.2.12 - Matchmaking improvements
New features
"Show Connection Info" option added to gameplay settings. When enabled, players will see ping and input lag values in the top right on the character select screen and in online matches.

Players can now play arcade while matchmaking
Players can now navigate menus with the Dpad

Dash-Dancing, Wavejumps and reworked Arcade Towers
Patch 1.2.10 is now live!
Gameplay
Dash-Dancing
If you quickly change direction, the character starts dashing, moving left and right. If you want the perfect pivot, like before, you can still do that, but after the start dashing animation ends
Wavedashes
You can now jump out of wavedashes. Their input was also reworked: you can now wavedash only if you press Jump before or at the same time with the Dodge input.
You have 4 frames (while in jump start animation) to press Dodge input after Jump input to enter wavedash
Arcade Towers
Changed how Medium and Hard towers battles work, to make them a lot more enjoyable, but still challenging: the enemies have a countdown between them, so you don't fight 2 or 3 of them at the same time
Fixed a bug where losing the internet connection at the last match would result in the loss of that tower achievement
Brawlout’s biggest update just went live!
This major update brings Brawlout up to date with the console version, with new features and the start of Ranked Season 2
Juan from Guacamelee! joins the fight!

Mastery Skins We’ve added two special cosmetics for each character that will unlock when players reach Mastery Levels 10 and 15 with them.
Daily Objectives and Rewards
New Taunt Emotes! Tons of new emotes, including some of the first community-created ones!
Gameplay
Heavy performance optimizations
Online matchmaking improvements, for smoother online 1v1 matches
New Respawn Mechanic
Drop like a comet
Control where you land and when you want to break out
Short hop improvements: It’ll be easier to perform short hops, as the input window has been extended to 4 frames for the entire cast.
Smarter AI
AI opponents are now able to use DI (Directional Influence), both to escape combos and to dampen the impact of otherwise fatal blows. In general they should be a little harder to combo and KO.
In Practice Mode, players can now set the training dummy to DI in a specific or random direction, DI to escape combos, or to DI for survival.
Fixed certain inputs not mapping properly to specific buttons (such as mapping jump to a trigger button)
Character balancing
Sephi’ra:
Reduced the range on her sprint attack by 20%
Reduced the damage and knockback of bair after the first couple of frames
Up tilt -> Up tilt part 2 is no longer spammable, as the second part now has a 15 frame landing lag
Natu’ra:
Reduced the damage and knockback of bair after the first couple of frames
Up tilt -> Up tilt part 2 is no longer spammable, as the second part now has a 15 frame landing lag
Nightma’ra:
Reduced the range on her sprint attack by 20%
Reduced the damage and knockback of bair after the first couple of frames
Up tilt -> Up tilt part 2 is no longer spammable, as the second part now has a 15 frame landing lag
Paco:
Forward air has sourspots, which deal less damage/knockback and send the opponent upward and out, instead of slamming them down
Forward tilt has less knockback growth, and slightly tweaked hitboxes (so it doesn’t hit opponents on platforms above him, or under him)
Less knockback on the second part of the up tilt when at the ledge, so it wouldn’t kill at very low percents
Olaf Tyson:
Removed the last hitbox on his jab special.
Chief Feathers:
Less hitstun/knockback growth on up special (firebird).
Small reduction in dash attack damage.
Senator Feathers:
Less hitstun/knockback growth on up special (firebird).
Sprint attack now has endlag.
Condor X:
Less hitstun/knockback growth on up special (firebird).
Drifter:
His Side Charge attack only does one sword swing and deals less damage/knockback, when only charged half-way. When charged more than 0.5 sec, it deals the same damage/knockback as before.
His Up Special Part 2 (Downward Slash) does AoE damage when hitting the ground, even if he doesn’t grab anyone on the way down.
Volt:
Increased Stormcall’s damage to 7%
Added another hitbox and an extra frame to the air forward attack
Increased knockback growth on up tilt
Vandal:
Increased Stormcall’s damage to 7%
Up tilt makes him jump higher and does more knockback
Juan:
Extended up tilt’s hitbox to reach lower down, so it wouldn’t miss shorter opponents like Paco.
Extended the size of Rooster Uppercut’s hitbox to cover into Juan’s lower body
Increased the damage on Forward throw (Das Boot) to 7%
Increased the damage on Back throw to 5%
Increased the damage on Up throw to 4%
Apucalypse:
Reduced the knockback on aerial side special to be more in line with the grounded version of the attack.
