Patch 1.1.4 is live now! It mainly focuses on better protecting our players’ saves from corruption in the event of an unforeseen shutdown of the game. Losing all your progress in a game isn’t cool, and we wanna make sure it doesn’t happen on The Angler.
Patch Notes
STABILITY
Improvements have been made to how save data is managed on Windows to deal with circumstances such as closing the game down or losing power whilst the game is actively saving.
Dev Team’s Notes: We’ve seen reports of players losing their progress when the game isn’t shut down correctly. This update puts safeguards in place to prevent that from happening.
PROGRESSION
Achievements for Windows have been fixed and will start unlocking again as intended.
Dev Team’s Notes:Progress was still being tracked and achievements that were completed on 1.1.3 will unlock once the update is installed.
UI
Resolved an issue that would make it impossible to join a friend’s multiplayer session from the Apex Connect Friends’ List in the Main Menu.
Resolved issues with missing localisation strings for upcoming items.
As always, your feedback was key in our ability to detect and solve these issues. We were sorry to hear about our players who found themselves with a blank save and had to restart the game from the beginning. If you face any technical issues while playing The Angler, make sure to let us know via our Support Page or on our Discord server - it’s the best way to make sure it’s seen by the team and being worked on.

Known Issues | Version 1.1.3
A lot has happened on The Angler these past few weeks. From the release of the Challenger Update to Patch 1.1.3, the team has worked to act on your feedback and bring the first of many improvements you want to see added to the game. Of course, our work doesn’t stop here, and we’re planning to keep on rolling out these updates to continuously improve your angling experience.
With this in mind, we’ve updated our list of Known Issues - the bugs and glitches we’re aware of, but haven’t got around to tackle just yet. If you encounter technical difficulties while fishing in Golden Ridge Reserve, make sure to check out this list before reporting them. We may already be working on a solution!
Known Issues | Version 1.1.3
STABILITY
A variety of stability-related issues are known of and are being tackled. The most frequently-encountered issues are being worked on in priority.
GAMEPLAY
In specific circumstances, cars can collide with other cars even when ghosted.
Interacting with the shop or vehicle spawners after catching a fish and immediately releasing a fish may change the camera perspective.
While spin fishing, it’s possible for the strike window to be too short to react and successfully hook the fish.
Fishing and standing back from the edge of a bridge can cause issues with both the line and the float in specific instances.
Rods can sometimes appear straighter than they should be under high tension levels.
VISUAL
Occasionally, the time of day can either skip forward or cycle through 24 hours rapidly.
On Steam Deck, if the graphics preset has been set to Low within the video options, the player’s hair won’t render.
The player’s avatar is not rendered below the water’s surface in the reward sequence.
The water caustic effects in the Reserve Population and Latest Catch menus disappear on the fish after entering and exiting the Handbook for the first time.
The Spanish Companionship Dollar and the Norwegian Friendship Dollar are using incorrect images in the Handbook.
Some lures will incorrectly remain in a vertical position when being reeled in.
The player’s hands will partially clip through the Bronze Rank Rainbow Trout in the Catch Screen.
Water Buoys no longer float in the water, instead sinking to the water bed.
The waterwheel at the Watermill location spins the wrong way. It also has a post intersecting the moving wheel geometry.
Float movement currently doesn’t match wave movement as accurately as desired.
Changes to some graphics and video settings during gameplay may not apply. Dev Team’s Notes: Restarting the game will make sure all your settings are correctly applied.
On rare occasions, some objects may appear to float, clip, or not properly align with the ground as you explore the open world.
On rare occasions, some distant parts of the terrain may not render as expected.
When driving a vehicle at speed, the vehicle may appear to flicker momentarily.
The water’s appearance can sometimes differ from its actual physical movement.
UI
Navigating the Apex Connect menus with a gamepad can cause minor selection issues.
Some of the lure and bait preferences within the Handbook have their text cropped.
Navigating the Quick Menu with a gamepad might cause the Quick Chat to be inaccessible.
Rods purchased for storage are being counted towards the backpack space instead when purchasing them in the shop.
When moving hooks from the Backpack to Storage, the scrollbar goes below the expected position on the panel.
The tension meter has a small vertical line at the top and bottom of the circle.
Having two identical rods in the Rod Assembly menu may result in the same tackle being attached to both.
A scrollbar will appear within the other Apex Connect menus after visiting a full friend’s page. This does not affect functionality.
When viewing the map and interacting with a waterbody, it may not always correctly list all of the fish species present there.
There is a lack of messaging when launching the game for players with below minimum spec hardware or software.
Traits in the Handbook are sometimes displayed incorrectly after swapping quickly between tabs.
CUSTOMISATION
In the Customisation menu, the character’s hair appears black or white when wearing a hat.
PROGRESSION
The Big Fish Small Pond achievement doesn’t unlock at Level 50 until the game is restarted.
MULTIPLAYER
In multiplayer, other players’ avatars may occasionally be missing an item of clothing or a body part. This resolves itself over time.
If you encounter a technical issue that’s not listed above or wanna share feedback on the game, make sure to join us on Discord where we have dedicated channels for both - https://avlche.com/TADiscord
Patch 1.1.3 is now live and it packs some of the most community-awaited improvements yet. Let’s dive in!
Main Features & Quality of Life Improvements
We’ve added the option to toggle on or off the Strike UI during the biting phase.
Dev Team’s Notes: There are two separate options that reside within the Accessibility Menu, which allow you to change the audio and visual cues independently. In the near future, we’re also planning to do more to further improve this phase of gameplay - including improvements to the float and line behavior on the water.
A new Focus on Float feature has been added, allowing players to zoom in on the float during fishing.
Dev Team’s Notes: You can toggle the zoom as soon as you’ve cast.
We’ve updated how fish react when the bait, float, or lure hits the water. The radius of effect has been reduced and there’s now a probability rather than a certainty of fish getting spooked.
Dev Team’s Notes: The new spooking behavior was found to be too aggressive and binary. Therefore, we’ve reacted to make it less pronounced and frequent - making it feel more natural and believable.
Quick Chat has been added to the Quick Menu, allowing players to communicate with each other in multiplayer sessions.
Dev Team’s Notes: There’s a total of 35 messages available, split into 7 distinct categories. They range from simple greetings to reactions and responses. What’s more, they’ll be automatically translated depending on your game’s selected language.
The Epic Game Store version of the game has been updated to support the achievements system.
Dev Team’s Notes: EGS players rejoice! You can expect all your previously unlocked achievements to unlock during the boot sequence the next time you launch the game.
We’ve calmed the water by reducing the average strength of the wind and waves. It should better reflect the idyllic fishing conditions found on a perfect Golden Ridge summer day.
Dev Team’s Notes: Not only will this reduce visual noise on the surface, it will also make it much easier to read the behavior of the float on the water surface.
The issue with fishing lines not going through the rod’s eyelets has been resolved.
Dev Team’s Notes: The fishing line now is not only positioned accurately within the eyelets, but the line now actually moves within the eyelets when reeling.
Patch Notes
VISUAL
The visual inaccuracies of the Mountain Whitefish and the Lake Trout in the menus have been resolved.
The erroneous “Trapezium Sandy Desert” short-sleeve top that appeared as a duplicate has been resolved.
The player’s hair and hat now cast accurate shadows.
The baitcasting pose and corresponding animations have been updated to more accurately hold and use the baitcasting rods.
Boats no longer become “ghosted” when two or more are docked at the same jetty.
An issue with SSSR causing unintended vertical transitions on the water has now been resolved.
AUDIO
In multiplayer, the boat ignition audio can now be heard as intended from other players’ boats.
GAMEPLAY
In multiplayer, the player’s orientation while fishing is now tracked accurately.

Known Issues | Version 1.05
We’re taking a very short break from our work on Game Update 1 to bring you an updated list of Known Issues! Following 1.05’s release, we’ve seen a major decrease in crash rates, multiplayer-related issues and general bug reporting.
If you encounter a glitch and want to report it, make sure to check out the list below first - we might already be working on a solution.
Known Issues | Version 1.05
VISUAL
When pumping the rod, it can artificially vibrate. This effect will be removed in our next update for a more realistic experience.
Water Buoys no longer float in the water, instead sinking to the water bed.
Dev Team’s Notes: Bad Buoys. We float together, we sink together.
The Spanish Companionship Dollar and the Norwegian Friendship Dollar are using incorrect images in the Handbook.
The waterwheel on the wheelhouse at the Watermill location spins in the wrong way. It also has a post intersecting the moving wheel geometry.
Dev Team’s Notes: Big shoutout to our community member on Discord who reported this to us early on! Your help spotting and sharing these issues with us is dearly appreciated.
When driving a vehicle at speed, the vehicle may appear to flicker momentarily.
The water caustic effects in the Reserve Population and Latest Catch menus disappear on the fish after entering and exiting the Handbook for the first time.
Water can still visually clip through the bottom of boats. However, this does not impact handling.
When viewed from specific angles (mainly from an elevated position), water may show some inaccurate reflections.
Float movement currently doesn’t match wave movement as accurately as desired.
The water’s appearance can sometimes differ from its actual physical movement.
Changes to some graphics and video settings during gameplay may not apply.
Dev Team’s Notes: Restarting the game will make sure all your settings are correctly applied.
When watching a watch tower sequence, you may see a secondary and unintentional camera fade at the end.
On rare occasions, some objects may appear to float, clip, or not properly align with the ground as you explore the open world.
On rare occasions, some distant parts of the terrain may not render as expected.
Specific AMD graphics cards may experience corrupted clouds.
UI
It’s currently not possible to select the third rod from the Quick Menu when using a gamepad.
“Hold to Interact” prompts are currently inconsistent in their duration. They should all be the same length.
Players attempting to boot the game with below minimum spec hardware or software sometimes receive an inaccurate warning message or no message at all.
Dev Team’s Notes: Please make sure to check our minimum and recommended specs before getting the game. A large portion of crash reports we’re currently receiving in the community relates to players attempting to launch the game on unsupported CPUs/GPUs. Of course, we’ll always try to further improve our optimization of the game where we can, but fixes for unsupported hardware cannot take priority over improvements for players meeting requirements.
Map icons don’t perfectly move in sync when panning over the reserve map.
The handbook displays a limited amount of compatible baits and lures for each fish species, instead of showing the primary ones.
When unsupported characters are used in players’ names, they appear blank in-game (on the map and during gameplay).
Mission waypoints may not always reappear if the game was closed in the middle of a mission.
The “Golden Tour” mission may be re-tracked after you’ve fast-traveled or re-entered the reserve.
PROGRESSION
Two of the waterbody discoveries in Silver Strand Meadows are not unlocking as they should on the map.
The reward for reaching 1000 Reserve Reputation is not unlocking (only possible to reach 990).
Optional tutorial missions are all visible at the start of the game. They should instead only appear when progress towards them is made.
GAMEPLAY
Rods can sometimes appear straighter than they should be under high tension levels.
The default fishing position on boats is incorrect.
CUSTOMIZATION
During customization, the character’s hair appears black or white when wearing a hat.
MULTIPLAYER
In multiplayer, other players’ avatars may occasionally be missing an item of clothing or two.
In multiplayer, when other players fast travel, their avatar might not despawn immediately from their previous location as intended.
Dev Team’s Notes: We’re hard at work on bringing a solution to these overly-attached friends in Game Update 1.
AUDIO
On rare occasions, the vehicle you’re in (boat or 4x4) may lose audio.
Dev Team’s Notes: We have a fix for this issue scheduled for Game Update 1. In the meantime, know that exiting and re-entering the vehicle typically resolves the issue.
Keep an eye out for more information on Game Update 1 as we get closer to release. We’ll make sure to unpack all its new features and improvements with you as soon as we’ve put the finishing touches to it!
In the meantime, if you encounter a technical issue or wanna share feedback on the game, make sure to join us on Discord where we have dedicated channels for both.
