The road ahead!
It’s time to share our plans for the future of Call to Arms!
At this stage, it’s important to get everything finished up for the release of the game. We think, games are a service, so you can expect long term support for Call to Arms. That means, once the game is officially released, we are not done with it. But at some point, we need to leave Early Access and provide a game with fully functional and polished core game aspects.
Our plan is to finish the game in Q2 this year. The official release may happen in Q3, as the right timing for a release matters a lot as well. At this point however, the game is already pretty much done and we will focus on polishing all the existing features and visual aspects. Of course, the release version will include localization for many more languages and completely new voice acting.
In the meantime, our team is already working on new content for Call to Arms. The first upgrade will contain two new factions, the United Arab Forces and the Eastern European Rebels. These factions will be available for beta testing to Deluxe and Season Pass owners in multiplayer, shortly after the release of the game. Once the campaign is finished, which we expect to happen soon after, everyone can use these factions with unit progression.
After that we will jump right into finishing up the German and Russian factions, both are making good progress already. We expect the multiplayer aspect to be released for all factions throughout the year. The campaigns will take more time, as they are the most time-consuming part of development. None the less, the second half of the year, will be a content bomb for Call to Arms.
Something that you can expect in the near future, are improved graphics, better controls and animations, bug fixes, more variations of helicopters with different armament and neat gameplay improvements. Furthermore, we will put a lot of effort into fixing and balancing the small quirks of the game.
Free Version
The free version does not exchange or make the full version less valuable. The free version can be considered a light version that exchanges the needs for a demo. Demos never reflect a game properly, as they are not updated in the same manner as games as a service. Furthermore, a demo isn’t worth it, if you cannot play with your friends who already purchased the game. The free edition of Call to Arms allows you to get a very good idea of what you can expect and increases the online popularity. It also diminishes the need for pirated copies, as people who cannot afford the game, can still play it to some extend and buy it later. There is no pay2win and there will never be pay2win in Call to Arms. Everyone who purchased the full version before the launch of the free version paid less money, than what the full version costs now.
Upgraded Packages
Everyone who bought the game, be it full version or deluxe edition, got their packages improved. That means you get more content than initially announced, as you can see in the sheet below. Deluxe Edition includes an additional DLC and everyone receives access to 4 new factions to come for free. Of course, you will also receive free map packs, content upgrades, new features and much more in the coming months.
Updated Gameplay!
We published two new gameplay videos, of the latest progress we made with Call to Arms. Feel free to check them out and comment!

Major update and news!
We have released one of the biggest updates for Call to Arms today! The massive change-log is coming soon, in the meantime we will provide some hotfixes. Since the game has changed so much, we expect a few issues to turn up. The core features of the new update are vastly improved 3rd/1st person mechanics, new multiplayer maps, new sound environment, ability to command your squad in 3rd person via middle mouse button, weapon recoil, improved heightmap collision, improved ricochet mechanics, ability to customize HUD color (deluxe edition), tons of new environment assets and helicopter controls!
Also, we are working on major content updates for the future. After the new factions have been completed, we will start to rework the older human and weapon skins. Here are some teasers of what you can expect!
In the new update, you can already enjoy new 1st person mechanics for improved aiming. This process will take quite some time, but it's worth it!

Developers update 24
Welcome to our twenty-fourth developers update for Call to Arms! We will use these updates to keep you posted on the progress of the development and features.
We have been silent lately, however, we weren’t turning our thumbs, in fact the game has progressed tremendously over the past few weeks. The reason for our silence is, that we have been moving to a new and larger office. During development of Call to Arms, our team has grown steadily and it was time to do the next step. Needless to say, that we wanted to accomplish this without adding any further delays to the game, so our focus has been on a smooth transition and we are happy to let you know that we succeeded in doing so. :cta_emo1:
So what have we been working on in the meantime?
Improved 3rd person controls
We spent a lot of time on improving the 3rd and 1st person controls in-game. Better animations, better controls, better heightmap interaction for easier and more accurate movement. Currently we are working on squad movement orders via 3rd person and hit direction indicators, as well as a recoil system to make shooting much more of a skilled experience.
Sounds
The sound environment of battles has been completely reworked. Weapons differ if you are shooting in close or far distance, that leads to a much more natural sound environment. This was necessary to make the 3rd and 1st person experience closer to reality and this added a much better overall experience.
New factions
The new factions are also shaping up very well and soon after release of the game, we should be able to deliver you the first content pack with lots of exciting new equipment and units. Can you guess which tanks you can see on the screenshots?
Map pack
We are also working on a multiplayer map pack, we expect it to be done by the end of next month. Furthermore, the singleplayer campaign is receiving extra work and polish to make it more interesting and challenging to play.
Helicopters
We think, the screenshot is speaking for itself! :cta_emo10:
Stay tuned for more updates coming soon.
Have a nice weekend!
Developers update 23
Welcome to our twenty-third developers update for Call to Arms! We will use these updates to keep you posted on the progress of the development and features.
The development is in full swing and we are progressing very well. We have reached the last quarter of the development and the game release is in sight. We have set up internal milestones in support of the release preparations. This means, we are clearly prioritizing each task to finish the game in a timely manner without making any compromises on the quality we want to achieve.
While the programming team is currently focusing on the 3rd and 1st person mechanics and soon on the new in-game UI. Our team of artists is already working on the new factions to reduce the waiting time after release!
For 3rd and 1st person, we are working on a multitude of changes. We just introduced high quality 1st person human hand models and different damage depending on body areas, as a next step we will be working on improving the animations. Further improvements will include weapon blow back effects, breathing mechanics, slow walking in zoom, new scopes, hit direction feedback, commanding squad members in 3rd person and many more features that improve the whole ground battle experience!
Scopes and sights vary on the type of weapon you are using now. If you are controlling a soldier, a decent vignette effect will also highlight the more accurate aiming and slower walk speed.
Some humble words
First of all, we are very grateful for the support we have received over the many months since we started the development of Call to Arms. The feedback has been extremely valuable to us and we are excited to see how the game is finally shaping up and is becoming a new and fun experience for everyone. Unfortunately, we still have this regular amount of reviewers complaining about the free version, microtransactions, Season Pass without playing the game at all, or reading the available information about these issues. Therefore, we would like to address this once and for all: the purchased editions of the game did not turn into a free game. The game is still up for sale. Maybe the time of demos is so far away by now, that some forgot that it’s actually a good thing if you can try a game out before buying.
Are we milking customers? No, we are adjusting ourselves to the reality we all live in. A reality in which the grand majority of developers are struggling with the flood of games on all platforms, with exploding marketing and development costs and with completely oversaturated markets. A reality in which last year almost 1000 people lost their jobs in the German games industry alone, while we were still hiring people and paying our team on time. If we don’t learn to adjust ourselves, then we will be just another name on a very long and sad list of studios. Sometimes this means radical changes, as we have seen with Call to Arms lately. However, these radical changes increased the player counts by 5 times and increased our profits to a level where we can continue to dedicate all of our resources to the game, which ultimately results in a much better game for everyone.
You can be with or against change, but you can only decide between more and better games of that type with a different business model or no further type of these games at all. So, let us work together on making this a success story for many years to come and focus on what is important: a great game!
Allied campaign coming!
Great news everyone! The GRM campaign for Call to Arms is progressing very well!
The Allied campaign is played out of the eyes of a new GRM commander, who joined the forces after government troops attacked his village. The campaign will tell the story about the rise and fall of the revolutionary movement. The upcoming UAF faction will be a tough enemy who is better equipped than you and receives support from Western factions. During the course of the battle, you will be able to improve the quality of your equipment and gain the support of better troops who will follow you into battle to make an end to oppression!
The Allied campaign is included in the Deluxe Edition and Season Pass. The UAF faction with new units will be available in multiplayer after release for everyone! ːcta_emo1ː
