Build 0.175 - Bugs Fixes Mostly

Im still prepping the final boss / final ending sequence. But i have some bug fixes implemented here, in addition to a score leaderboard. The scores will be reset once the game launches out of early access, but for now, huge props to Reise for her/his killer scores.

There are still a couple known bugs showing up when using the Dimensional Stones, working on those too and should have a fix for the next build.

  • BALANCE: Eating Egg fills energy no matter how much its upgraded.
  • BUGFIX: Showing egg or object to the hermit only works once until you drop it and pick it up again.
  • BUGFIX: Could get stuck dropping egg on old man then pickup up while on him.
  • BUGFIX: Heart sizing / disappearing issues.

Build 0.172 - NEW BOSSES!




Oh man, dudes. This is almost it. Here are the 3 remaining normal bosses of Cosmochoria. All that's left is to write the final boss battle. The ending sequence and then massage / embellish some of the story throughout everything. It's getting so close, my friends. So close. hope you dig these guys. Quick Patch 0.171

As always, heres a quick fix for some stuff that reared its ugly head in the last big update. Will be focussing 100% on those final bosses now for the next few days hopefully we can call this game done soon :) Thanks for the great feedback everyone. Keep it coming.

Build 0.170 - The PAX Fixes

Hey friends, some major changes here mostly in leading up to the big showcase at PAX East in Boston. Huge love if you saw the game out there -- you made my weekend awesome just by stopping by to say hey and play :D I learned a lot of things that weekend that are reflected in these changes. Hopefully its a good compromise between players who have been playing since the beginning and players who have never touched it before. That's what Im aiming for. Any feedback, let me know. Hope you enjoy and a huge shoutout to Jessi who did the majority of those awesome background you see scattered around the galaxy now. :) Great work Jess. My crystals planets were cool... but your stuff is better.

    Phew. Long night. Quick fix to some key stuff found in the last huge build... Trying to get this as stable as I can so there might be a few other small quick fixes before the next big update.

    This is getting heavy dudes.



    We now essentially have all the functionality that will be in the final build of Cosmochoria. I'm worried there might be some weird bugs because so much core stuff was tweaked and added here, but its awesome so have a look and let me know what you think.

    Some KEY Things:

    Super Mysterious Ultra Dimensional Time Stones
    These are both crucial to the storyline as well as act as 'Checkpoints' upon which you can re-enter the cosmos from a certain point. I wont explain how to collect them as it should be pretty obvious, but once you collect them they are 'unlocked' immediately.

    Artifacts
    Artifacts are found all over the place, mostly in chests. I wont get too deep into what causes certain ones to appear but basically once you find one you must bring it to someone (spoiler: the old man). he will basically tell you what the artifact is and unlock it for you, so you can then activate it on the title screen. Artifacts are either 'easy' (green) or 'hard' (red) so they make the game easier or harder depending on which ones you have active and how many. All 24 artifacts are currently findable in the current game. No 2 artifacts should be alike in a single game, but you may find an artifact in a new game that you have already found / unlocked. I did this so that I can spawn a bunch per game without worrying if you have them all or not yet.

      OMG Bug Fixes. Build 0.153

      As nuts as this is going to look, this whole damn thing was primarily about bug fixes. I started adding in some dope new stuff, but i didnt want to go too far as it would just delay the update longer. I figure if i can get this to you guys now, you at least have some fixes for the bugs that were in 0.151 while i continue working on the new stuff.

      You'll get a hint at what's coming with the Dimensional Stones... those will be how I'm dealing with a lack of save feature. Instead of racking my brains coming up with a way to simply end one game and return to it later, I decided a more permanent solution would be beneficial overall, especially now that I see so clearly that games can last so long. Because of this, I'm introducing the Dimensional Stones. And so... im gonna leave it at that till next time. :) Enjoy the mystery of what is soon to come.

      This build also features a cool new idea i've been wanting to do since day one, but after talking to MessedCoast (Tx!!) I really put the pieces together on how i wanted to accomplish it. Basically you now drop a flag on a planet before you start planting seeds on it..... it answers a few issues i was struggling with but most fluffy is the fact that it gives you a reason to call a planet home. Especially now that you can easily find it on a map.

      Here's what I did:

      Changelog 0.153

      • GAMEPLAY: On powerdown, send the powerup out of your body.
      • GAMEPLAY: Removed powerups from Vaccuumdragons. the whole point of them giving you powerups was to counterbalance the fact that they easily take them away. now that powerups pop out of you… poof.
      • GAMEPLAY: Before you can plant seeds, you must first place a flag.
      • GAMEPLAY: Placing a flag names the planet.
      • GAMEPLAY: Made Minimap available by default.
      • GAMEPLAY: Planets on minimap only show if you've planted a flag. (Starts out empty but can be populated)
      • GAMEPLAY: “Buying” minimap is now called “Upgrading”.
      • GAMEPLAY: Upgraded minimap shows unvisited planets. (as it did in all subsequent updates)
      • GAMEPLAY: However, now you can hover over planets on minimap to show the name.
      • GAMEPLAY: Upgraded Minimap also shows details on the planets. (Bases on the planet, # of required plants, amount of health available)
      • CONTROLS: Massive Improvements to Jumping & Jetting.. I hope you like.. feedback welcome as it sort of changes some things up. I got rid of the big gravity changes cuz honestly i feel like it SUCKED.
      • CONTROLS: Ultranova now can be fast-triggered from F button without using your menu.Open to suggestions on the best key for this if F isnt working.
      • INTERFACE: Setup interface for super mysterious ultra dimensional time portals.

      GAMEPAD FIXES
      Some important changes were made to how gamepad plays. Honestly, i apologize if this messes with anyone who was used to the old controls, but I really feel this makes more ‘sense’ with jumping / jetting and movement on the left and full gun operations on the right. the key difference too is that the right stick no longer auto-fires since it fundamentally wouldnt work with the plasma weapon or sword which are able to be charged up.

      What i did instead was make it so the right stick simply aims your weapon, and you can fire it using the Right Trigger or Shoulder button. So you can still autofire, it just means you have to hold down the trigger/shoulder button. That way when you have a charge-able weapon, you can still just hold down the button to charge (as otherwise its just shooting one bullet per press). and then release the trigger to shoot the charged shot. It might take some getting used to if you’ve been playing primarily with GamePad, but im actually really happy with how it all feels.

      If i have time before launch, Ill make an option with some different control schemes but if i dont have time it is something i’d like to do at some point in the future, so don’t sweat if it’s not your cup of tea…. tho give it a chance and i think you’ll dig it.


      • CONTROLS: Jump & Jet needs to happen with A & LT same was as it does with mouse.
      • CONTROLS: X & RT = SHOOT & Charge
      • CONTROLS: Make sure doesnt run while shooting if using X to shoot.
      • CONTROLS: Quick button! Y is Ultranova.

      NEW BUILD! 0.151

      Well dudes, this was a big one for me. Up until today I've been saying over and over again 'just wait till there's more just wait till there's more...' i'm essentially getting to the point where I can't say that anymore. There's a bunch of story stuff buried scattered across the galaxy in this version by way of the Holo-Pods. There's tonnes of stuff written there, and (ahem) lots more to come, but the functionality is all there and implemented.

      Also, ALL the costumes are currently findable / unlockable... There's a few hints scattered around that might help you figure some of them out. If you have trouble, the old geezer knows lots of stuff. If you really have trouble, please post a comment, I'd be curious to know if you managed to unlock etc.

      I'm curious what you guys think about resetting everyones game when the game comes out of early access and setup as a live steam release? This is because there's going to be a bunch more Achievements etc that will need to unlock, not to mention some of the current stuff might change a bit. For example, the sword is no longer purchaseable. It's free to find, but you gotta do a series of events to unlock it. That's the kind of stuff I mean. I'll probably have an achievement for unlocking the sword so anyone who has it now wont get that achievement. We'll see. Leave feedback.

      Cosmochoria at PAX East!!!

      Just wanted to proudly announce that we will be showcasing Cosmochoria this year in Boston, MA at PAX East! Ilkae (Music), Jessi (Supporting art & Community Management) and Myself (weirdo) will be flying in to Boston to showcase this strange little game we're making.

      Would be so awesome to meet some of you if you happen to be attending PAX. Also, if you want to chat, let us know and maybe we can set up some kind of meeting / dinner / drinks or something so that we can all meet each other and hug and hi-5 and stuff.
