Lately I've got some reports that the game stopped working on Windows XP. This patch is fixing this so all of the players still using Windows XP can play Courier of the Crypts now.

Happy Halloween - Patch (Critical) Notes #8

Next to the updates further below we've added some Halloween themed graphics and music to the main menu to fit the holidays. I hope you'll like it.
Because of the Halloween Holidays, the game is 20% off.
I've promised a content update by now but sadly I couldn't finish both of the 2 new maps and new Cathedral ending. The content update is very close though.
Me and Zdravko (the composer) concentrated on the new Cathedral ending to connect the story pieces differently as we felt that the previous ending just didn't do the justice. Even if you have finished the Cathedral map I suggest you finish it again so you can follow the story.
Bug fixes & changes:
Cathedral map ending changed
Dialogues for all maps are fixed
Statue of Matjaž Lamoot, the winner of the secret map competition has been added to the Cathedral map
New Halloween main menu graphics and music
Collisions and some other glitches fixed
Into the Darkness map has puzzle room changed
Emberheart Games splash screen added

Content Update #5 - Crypt Cathedral
After a long time it is time for another content update. Courier managed to find a way from the magic library to the great cathedral of the crypts. What mysteries will he find there?
New:
Crypt Cathedral map with new puzzles to solve and secrets to find. And who knows what else you might find in there.
Secret achievement added.
Improvements:
Magic Seeds - these can now be used as a weapon as well. When the enemy steps on them, the seeds activates damaging the enemy.
New music for some of the maps (Sewers, Library, Reservoir)
New music in map selection screen
New sounds (rats, player's torch on/off...)
New battle music (eg. when fighting the wooden machine)
Out of ammo notifications.
Number 1 changed so you don't mix it with 7.
Name Kalv mentioned in some scrolls changed to "Quiberon".
Bug Fixes:
Avoiding trigger for starting cinematic in Jail Cells
Achievement 'Saved by the Light' was not achievable.
Texture bug that may happened from time to time.
I'm sorry for such a delay with this update but everything took time due to several reasons but the development goes on smoothly.
What to expect in the next content update • New map Crumbling Halls • Courier Upgrades! Yes, you'll finally be able to use some of the gathered gold to make your journey easier for a while.
In one of the previous patches the game lost support for WindowsXP and that's something I wasn't aware of so I'll be working on this issue as well.

Patch (Critical) Notes #7
In last few days I was working on two most critical bugs I had in the game so far. Both were fixed but it took me a lot of time so the next content update may get delayed. I'm once again very sorry for all the bugs but I'm doing my best to fix everything as soon as possible.
1. Distorted tileset in the Sewers
Lately more and more people reported weird graphics in the sewers. After doing more research I found out I have no clue but after lots of sweat the bug was solved. You should have great time in the Sewers once again.
2. Checkpoint & no way to finish the Jail Cells map
Are you one of those people who couldn't finish the Jail Cells map? Don't worry, it's not your fault. You did everything right, it was me that made it impossible.
Once you died in the map, there was no way to finish it because you couldn't fix the grinding machine. You could also get stuck after reading the book for the second time (after respawning at the checkpoint).
Everything is fixed now so you can die without worries.

Please accept my deepest apologies for the army of bugs lately. Thanks to everyone for reporting them to me so I can make the game enjoyable & playable for everyone.

We have a competition winner!
Two weeks ago, I've offered a reward (extra copy of the game + statues in the upcoming map) to the player, that would find the first secret map in the game and stay on the top of the leaderboards at the end of the competition.
Only one player found the secret and that's the winner!
CONGRATIULATIONS!

Patch (Critical) Notes #6
I'm releasing a critical patch for the game because latest update (Patch #5) caused some serious troubles.
If you logged in to Steam from 7th to 15th of May, there are good chances that all of your progress on Profile 1 is lost.
That is the worst nightmare for me because I know how valuable the time is and I really don't want to take it away from you. If you were playing on Profile 1 and lost your progress then please, send me an email on info (at) emberheartgames (dot) com with info about the progress you had (levels finished, secrets found, money) and I'll send you a profile with the instructions. That's all I can do right now. I'm really sorry about that, this shouldn't happen but sadly it did.
Other bug fixes:
• Crash in some of the maps after dying
• After finding secrets and finishing a map for the first time, overworld diplayed 0/3 secrets found.
• Light was on in the library part of the map selection even before you got there.
Thanks again to everyone who reported bugs. Even though every update is tested, it is hard to find all the bugs & crashes. Every report is helping the game become better and more stable.
Patch Notes #5
When I was pushing the game content I had to cut some corners like doing less polishing and I even let some bugs slip into the game. Because of that I've decided to do a bigger patch that fixes most of the known bugs and add some polishing to the game.
Next bugs were fixed:
• If you found a secret place, got to the checkpoint, died and respawned, that secret was there again, ready to loot. You could grind a secret place that way very quickly.
• Wrong number of secrets found at the end of the map fixed
• More secrets found than exists (including the display of more than 5 skulls in the map selection)
• Reading a book in the Jail Cells started a wrong dialog (following with a crash or some other scarry stuff)
• In Jail Cells, where the mummy comes out of the casket you could walk over the casket.
• Weird scroll text symbol
• Jail bar tiles drawn over the player
• In Storyline map you could see map borders
• Ritual flames in Jail Cells were displayed over the player.
Improvements:
• Overworld map selection got minor gfx update (let me know if it's better)
• You can see your current gold in map selection screen now
• All of the maps got minor visual updates & missing tile fixes
• Dialog added when you get stones for the first time
• Dialog added at the very beginning of the crypt entrance
• Few more sounds added to the environment and objects
• Few effects added (particles, animations) to the objects
• Moving blocks lights up and changes texture when you activate them for better indication which one you are moving.
As you can see there are quite some fixes and improvements but I'm far from over with polishing (and fixes) but I'll leave that for the next patch after the content update.
Like I said in the previous content update notes, next map will be Crypt Cathedral, a very cool map really. I'm also getting ready to release a first "shop" where you'll finally be able to use your money.

Content Update #4 - Secret map & Competition
I'm updating the game with that part I was promising the last friday and that is the first secret map in the game. It's awesome and it's competitive.
Courier VS Zombies
This map is a tribute to the only kind of "dark" enemies I won't have in the game - zombies. Lots of people asked me when will I include zombies but that will never happen. Instead of that, I've made a Zombie Gauntlet in the secret map.
In one of the 6 levels there is a second ending that will unlock and lead you to this hidden map. Use your eagle eye and exploration masteries because you'll need them.
COMPETITION
For the duration of ~2 weeks you'll have a chance to earn a statue in the new upcoming map with your name and a free copy of a game for your friend.
What do you have to do: • Find and unlock a secret map
• Be the first on the leaderboards by the end of the competition
GO!
Bug fixes, improvements & additions
• 2 new achievements
• Weird bookshelf scaled sprite in Library map is back to normal
• Missing collisions added to the Library map.
• Sprite draw order is fixed on some items
• Walls behind locks have a colored line resembling the color of the key needed.
• All sounds use master volume now
• Magic Orbs in the Jail Cells are working now after you respawn at the checkpoint
• Some triggers have bigger radius now.
• Spider egg removed from a secret in a Library Map
There are still some urgent bugs that needs fixing but that will come next week in a minor update.

Patch (Critical) Notes #4
With the latest content update I let some critical bugs to enter the game which may caused game crashes / unfair game.
What's fixed:
• Game crash when using the magic orb (thing to control stones)
• At the Sewers map you started the game before the exit. Player is moved back to the original spot.
I'm really sorry for all the troubles and thanks to everyone for reporting them so fast.
Content Update #3 - New Map & More
Crypt passages led Courier from the Jail Cells to the Crypt Library. Do you have what it takes to find a way through the enchanted labyrinth?
What's new
• Enchanted Library - new map that will test your orientation and survival skills. It also has more secrets than any map in the game - more fun for the explorers.
• New 'weapon' to use - Magic Seed - without a map, it is hard to navigate through the crypt complex like that. Secret brotherhood created something simple yet effective to solve that problem.
• New achievements - 2 more steam achievements added.
Changes & Bug fixes
• Journey Begins achievement can be achieved now.
Excuses
This update should include the first secret map of the game but it wasn't ready for the release so I postponed it to the next week.
Next update
I'll release a small content update next week with a secret map, few bug fixes and improvements. That will give you some hard time finding the secret ending in one of the 6 maps.
After the next small update Courier will move to the Crypt Cathedrale.
