Jan 27 patch notes 2

Hotfix for a few bugs from the previous patch:

  • Player not spawning in correctly for farming town
  • Resolution of quest image improved

Jan 27 patch notes

This patch updates the following:

  • Added "experience totems" that will randomly spawn in dungeons and give the player extra experience if they pick it up. Currently, only one dungeon uses this item, but soon that will change so that all dungeons have random locations that might spawn the exp totem. The totem will also make a short musical jingle when the player picks it up.
  • Fixed portal sound effects not scaling with the sound effect pause menu slider.
  • Fixed music audio in various levels not scaling with the audio pause menu slider.
  • Removed the winter holiday game objects from the main menu. Don't worry, they will return again!
  • Fixed a steam achievement error for killing your first enemy not activating properly.

Armory update announcement

This update brings the new armory, which will allow players to select different armor. Currently only helms can be swapped out. Each class (except for Fallen Knight) will have 1 default helmet and 1 Yule helm. More helmets and other armor are also in the works!

Players will access the armory by interacting with the farming town's tailor NPC named Saelix. When the players are very close to the NPC, they can press T similar to interacting with the item vendor Ulf, and the camera will change to a "dressing room" view with a new canvas that allows the player to toggle on / off different armor pieces.

This update is the first of many more that will continue improving the experience of using the armory.

This patch also fixes several other bugs:

  1. Portals should change their volume intensity based on how close the player's character is to them
  2. Added an icon for the armory that toggles on (displays) when the player is close to the Tailor NPC, Saelix
  3. Fixed a few other small bugs

Jan 2 patch notes

  • New buttons added to the main menu scene that open web browsers to their links (social/weebly page, Steam store page, Steam discussions page, Steam patch page, and IG).
  • Added a Demon name generator for servants of the skeleton mage. The servant's names are randomly set upon spawning.
  • Added a random name generator option for players when they create a new character.
  • Skeleton mage negative armor II aura ability should now work when activated from the talent tree.
  • Skeleton mage improved potions ability should now work when activated from the talent tree.
  • Skeleton mage improved mana regeneration ability should now work when activated from the talent tree.
  • Skeleton mage negative health aura ability should now work when activated from the talent tree.

The first in-game "dressing room" or armory is also almost completed. This will provide characters an area to swap armor items such as for helms, shoulders, legs, or feet. Players will also be able to switch between entirely different skins here.

Jan 1 patch notes

    Happy New Year to all!
The first patch of 2023 updates the following:
  • Tutorial lighting has been increased so it isn't too dark to see
  • Scaled the amount of gold currency players receive depending on their difficulty (more challenging difficulties receive more currency)
  • Yule hats were added to all classes (except for Fallen Knight)
  • Updated spells with new sound effects
  • Fixed loading screen texture issues due to compression

New content in the form of cosmetics (new skins for each class), armor (mainly helms at the moment), enemies, and new zones and dungeons are being tested. The main focus for the first quarter of 2023 will be multifold. The goals are to finish the talent trees for all classes while adding a new in-game NPC for purchasing armor / cosmetic skins, and also adding new dungeons alongside updating current smaller dungeons that lack enemies. Of course I will also be listening to any community feedback. For example, some kind of mod interface will be tested, and if it is viable then it will likely be completed at the latest by end of Q2 - Q3.

I wish you all a happy new year!

Dec 31 patch notes

This patch compresses many textures in the game to reduce the size from ~ 22 GB to 17 GB.

Skeleton Mage necromancer talent tree abilities

  1. The SM can now resurrect their level 1 servant indefinitely after their servant dies in dungeons, once the SM has killed another enemy.
  2. The SM can now also spawn stronger Knight Servant and Archer Servant allies once the player is a high enough level.

    This patch also updates:

  • Added Yule hat to the SM's character model.
  • Fixed the character loading and creation screens to show the Yule hat for the Ravager and SM.
  • Added more bridge objects to Level 1 where there was originally a gap between the ground and bridge.
  • Updated sound effects used by enemies such as the first dungeon's Fetid Corpses.
  • Reduced the enemy knockback on mage's shield.

Dec 2 patch notes

  1. Added new sound for when the skeleton mage spawns a servant
  2. Updated all dungeons so the skeleton mage can spawn a servant in them
  3. Added a new visual effect showing a skull briefly where the skeleton mage's servant spawned
  4. Changed the default attack sound for mage ranged attacks and for Raining Dark Smoke

Testing has also started to create an in-game customization NPC that will let you purchase new armor colors and new armor skins.

Dec 27 patch notes

This patch fixes the following:

  • Finished updating all Level 1 dungeons so that the skeleton mage can use Raise Dead I (Level I) once in each dungeon. This will be updated again so that the skeleton mage can raise a new friendly skeleton after killing an enemy and there isn't already a friendly skeleton.
  • Fix for a bug that occurs when playing as the knight class where the player receives a Steam Achievement for the fallen knight and myrddin classes as well.
  • Updated the compass bar graphic (above in the middle of the screen) to use only cardinal directions without degrees between them.
  • Shrunk the compass rose size in the top right corner.
  • Fixed a bug that occurred when the player would press N to bring up the talent tree / stat point UI and then pressed another UI button such as O, K, or I, causing the mouse rotation to not resume unless the player hit Escape twice to toggle on/off the pause menu.
  • Fixed Level 1 portal icons to use the correct icons for dungeons and for the Farming Town.

Cryptmas Patch - Dec 25 patch notes

This patch adds a few new pieces of content and fixes several bugs mentioned in the previous patch notes.

  • Stat points can now be changed by clicking the corresponding button (for Reset, Strength / Magic, HP, or Mana) after pressing N to bring up the talent tree and stat point menus. Previously these stats were added by pressing buttons (8, 9, 0).

When a character levels up they will have a stat point to spend. This will be indicated in one way by the Skill Points UI displaying the 'SELECT ONE' and other graphics, which are hidden if the player has no points to spend.

  • Fixed the difficulty (Easy, Medium, Hard, or Legendary) not displaying in the 'Mode: ' pause menu UI.

  • In order to reduce player discomfort such as from dizziness or being distracted the camera will no longer rotate in the background of the talent tree and stat point menus (i.e. after pressing N to bring these menus up).

  • Fixed a bug where the skeleton mage's first talent tree icon on the left didn't display correctly.

  • A new compass graphic was added to replace the generic placeholder for the 'radar' compass on the top right (enabled / disabled by pressing H).

  • A new graphic (rotating sword) was added for the player indicator icon on the new compass; this will indicate which direction the player is facing using the compass.

  • Fixed a bug where the mouse cursor disappeared after pressing N.

  • Added new exit navigation elements (currently set to a green House icon) in dungeons when the enemies are cleared. These elements will show the distance and indicate the direction of the portals that exit the dungeon.

  • Fixed a bug where the cursor disappeared while clicking on the pause menu.

  • Reduced the jump height of the skeleton mage in order to balance the jump heights of all classes in the game.

  • Fixed a bug where the snow particles in the first level and start menu caused FPS to drop

    Merry Cryptmas and happy holidays!
