Deep Rock Galactic + The 2018 Legacy Edition on the Beta branch: drg_legacy, here on Steam for anyone who didn't get their fill of v.1 of DRG during the Year 05 Anniversary Event.
Save games are shared between the main and the drg_legacy branch, for both current DRG and Legacy - so no need to start over or change up saves.
Also, since the current version of the game is still included on the drg_legacy branch and will be kept up to date with the main branch - you can play the current version of DRG with Miners on the main without having to re-download the game.
Here's a guide (with pictures) on how to access the drg_legacy branch and launch the 2018 Legacy Edition of Deep Rock Galactic:
Go to your Steam Library
Right Click Deep Rock Galactic
Select ‘Properties’
Select the ‘Beta’ tab
In the drop down menu: Select drg_legacy - DRG + 2018 Legacy Edition
Click ‘Play’
On the pop-up with ‘Launch Options’ select ‘Play 2018 Legacy Edition’
NOTE: You might need to restart Steam to make the ‘Play 2018 Legacy Edition’ show up on the list.
Click ‘Play’ and enjoy the 2018 Legacy Edition
Those of you who have set the ‘Always use this option’ and therefore don’t get the launch option selection pop-up
Right click ‘Deep Rock Galactic’ in you Steam Library
Select 'Properties'
In 'General' click the 'Launch Options' drop down
Either directly select 'Play 2018 Legacy Edition' or .preferably, 'Ask when starting game'
a. If you select 'ask when starting the game' you will get the UI in the second image in this post, where you can select 'Play Deep Rock Galactic' or '2018 Legacy Edition'
b. If you select 'Play 2018 Legacy Edition' in the 'Properties' menu then you will have to repeat these steps but set it to 'Play Deep Rock Galactic' to be able to play “normal” Deep Rock Galactic.

Legacy Edition leaving DRG on March 23
Hello Miners,
The booze is gone, the jukebox is full of beans, and the Anniversary event is finally coming to an end after 2 weeks of trophy hunting, free beer, and smooth jazz. We hope you have enjoyed the event just as much as we enjoyed making it. And a most hearty thank you to everyone who purchased the Supporter II Upgrade - it has been humbling and encouraging to read all the wonderful reviews.
A small PSA: We will keep DRG Legacy Edition available for an additional week. It was initially meant to go away with the Anniversary Event, but we’ll keep it around until the next patch, which is scheduled for Thursday, March 23rd. More than fifty thousand of you have had a dive into this janky ol’ time capsule and seen first-hand how far DRG has come in the past five years. And if you haven’t had a chance to try out DRG Legacy yet, well, now you have another week to do so.
Thank you again for celebrating these past five years with us, Miners. We are hard at work on Season 04 as we speak, but more on that later as we get further along in development.

Hiring for Hoxxess Winners & Competition Recap
Hello, Miners!
It’s been a bit over a week since the Five Year Anniversary Live Stream - and our hangover is almost gone. So much happened - we had a look at the past 5 years and what’s to come in DRG, announced three games we’ll be publishing, and also announced the winners of the Hiring for Hoxxes competition! It’s this last part we’d like to recap for you, just in case you weren’t able to make it to the grand event itself.
Once the competition closed, we looked through all 195 submissions (yes, one hundred and ninety five!) and selected 10 finalists, on which the whole team at Ghost Ship would vote to find a winner. That list eventually ended on 11 entries - we simply could not trim it down any further. The original terms of the competition were that the final winner would get an armful of prizes, one of them a Steam Deck. But when we got to witness the sheer amount of craft you people demonstrated, the sheer quality of the entries, we pretty quickly decided that everyone that entered would get the new Supporter II Upgrade.
We also decided we had to add a 2nd and 3rd place, both of which would also receive a Steam Deck. Needless to say, we were having a great time watching all the videos - you can see for yourself, as the Lead Designer Mike and Content Producer Mark reacted to the finalist entries on-stream. Fun fact: Mark is the author of the recruitment video posted above.
In any case, enough faffing about - on to the finalists! These are the videos that made it to the final 11:

3rd Place
The bronze Medal ended up being shared between Doomer, a well-known figure in the DRG community, and Not Boogie. They were tied in votes from the Ghost Ship team, and both videos are absolutely amazing. Doomer’s over-the-top action shots left us in awe, while Not Boogie’s take on DRG from the Glyphids’ perspective made us guffaw. A round of applause to you both!
2nd Place
Coming in second, we have another well-known name: Drilling in the Name Of! We are avid watchers of his videos on Youtube, but this video still surprised us. You can still hear people humming the song here at the Ghost Ship office. Check out the semi-finalist video, in all its musical glory!

It was very close between the top finalists. The discussion was long and heated. But in the end, the WINNER of the entire competition is:

DRG: Survivor, DarkSwarm, and SpellRogue announced from Ghost Ship Publishing

Some of you caught our Anniversary Stream earlier this week, but for the rest of you: We have revealed the first batch of games we are going to publish through Ghost Ship Publishing!
We know that a lot of you are following Deep Rock Galactic for DRG-related news and may not be as interested in what we are doing in terms of publishing. But the news we have to share is still rather DRG-adjacent: One of the games revealed is actually a game in the DRG universe! Allow us to introduce:
DEEP ROCK GALACTIC: SURVIVOR
DEEP ROCK GALACTIC: SURVIVOR is a single-player survivor-like auto-shooter. Wield the full arsenal of Deep Rock Galactic, take on hordes of lethal aliens, mine riches, and unlock powerful upgrades. It's one dwarf against all of Planet Hoxxes!
The game is developed by Funday Games, and will feature many elements you’ll know from the Deep Rock universe. Procedurally-generated caves, waves of bugs (the enemy kind), and dwarves. Or dwarf, rather, since it is a single-player game.
We are very excited to reveal DRG: Survivor. We love this new and emerging genre, and this project came from us and Funday Games being really passionate about the idea of a survivor-like DRG game. DRG: Survivor will launch into Early Access later this year, and you can wishlist and follow the game already
The other two games announced during the anniversary stream are not directly related to DRG, but we very much want to share them with you anyway. We’re quite picky about the kinds of games we’d like to publish, but we’re very happy to say both of the development teams behind these next two games share our way of looking at things - not to mention the kind of passion for development we like to see and encourage.
But onto the next reveal!
DarkSwarm
DarkSwarm is a co-op, top-down tactical shooter where you and your team of elite operators use your skills, wits, and teamwork to destroy the alien swarm in daring operations deep inside the hive-infested colonies. It will have procedurally-generated levels, semi-destructible environments, and intense firefights.
This game is made by Bitfire games, and the Game Director Jonas is actually an old friend of ours - once we saw what he was working on, we had to jump on the opportunity to bring this gem to life. We don’t have a release date yet, as it will need quite a bit more development time before it is ready to release onto Early Access - but don’t let that stop you from wishlisting and following DarkSwarm today!
SpellRogue is a turn-based, deckbuilding roguelike where you cast powerful spells using dice. You upgrade your spells and gain legendary artifacts as you experiment with potent combinations to annihilate the Voidwalkers corrupting the world.
We found this project due to a bit of happenstance. We were talking to Tim and Thorbjørn about something different, and they sent us a prototype of SpellRogue to try out. We ended up coming back to work the next week, having played 25 hours of SpellRogue during that weekend. We were sold. And we had to be part of this journey as well.
SpellRogue also doesn’t have a release date yet, but wishlist and follow it and you will be the first to know!
That’s the first batch of games we’ll publish through Ghost Ship Publishing. What will the next games be? How many games do we plan to publish? The honest answer is: We don’t know yet. Our publishing efforts are completely passion-driven, and that means we pick games on a case-by-case basis. You can check out how we approach publishing on our website, and we will let you know when we have more projects to show.
And in case any of you worry: Our publishing efforts are not going to take time or resources away from the development of DRG. The actual development team for DRG is focused on Season 04, and publishing is handled by Management. So do not worry, miners, any potential delays to future DRG updates will solely be a result of our own feature creep - but surely that’s unlikely to happen again! We have learned to limit ourselves this time, no doubt! For real! Right! Right?

Season 03: PATCH 14
Hello Miners,
This patch includes the 2018 Legacy Edition (if you are wondering why the game doubled in size - that’s the reason), the return of the paper crow and Promoting a dwarf will now award the player with 1 Blank core, 1 Weapon Overclock core and 1 Cosmetic core, so get mining miners!
Please note that these Promotion changes are not retroactive, so you will not be rewarded for past promotions.

In preparation for the party, it appears that we have once more lost a shipment of party gear in a suspicious shuttle crash - and once more we'll be sending you in to deal with it! This time we're looking for big, golden YEAR FIVE TROPHIES - bring one back, and receive double the usual amount of Performance Points for that mission, earning you a fat boost on your Performance Pass each time you do!

The Annual Anniversary Ghost Ship Games Live Stream is back for yet another year! Those of you who’ve been with Deep Rock during the past 5 years will be well aware of this exciting yearly event - but if you’ve just joined up during this past year, allow us to explain:
Each year during DRG’s anniversary we run a live stream session featuring the founders and key members of Ghost Ship Games, talking about the past, present, and future of the game. This year will be no exception, especially since this time we’ll be celebrating HALF A DECADE of co-op fun, lucrative mining, and fond memories - all made possible by the game itself, and not least of all YOU: The community.
The live stream will take place on Twitch (ghostship_games), Wednesday, March 1st, from 14.00 CET.
We’ll primarily be talking about Deep Rock Galactic, of course - but this time around, we won’t be stopping there: As some of you have heard, Ghost Ship is venturing into the brave new world of publishing! We’re doing this driven primarily by our excitement about game development and from a desire to help out other awesome games and developers make great games and get themselves properly established. During the stream, we will be revealing some of these awesome upcoming titles - we’re quite excited about this.
