Impact Labs is a group of rogue scientists led by former Aquatekk Industries researcher Dr. Larson. The lab is well known for taking on any project - given the right price. Recently they've picked up a contract of questionable ethics, that aims to identify a species of shark to transform into the ultimate man eater. Two sharks have been identified with the best potential for the project; the Goblin and Oceanic Whitetip. Sides have formed in the lab, and its up to you to help prove which species is the best! Will you fight on the side of the Goblin Shark, the living fossil with a menacing extendable jaw? Or will you fight on the side of the Oceanic Whitetip Shark, a shark known for its dangerous and aggressive behavior toward shipwrecked crews? Choose which side you fight for in the main menu and as you complete matchmade games of Depth your score will earn points for your selected side! The side with the most votes at the end of the event will be chosen as the next shark species added to Depth!
Shark Fight - Treasure
Depth's first event treasure has come ashore! Complete games of Depth during the Shark Fight event to earn Shark Fight Event Treasures! Featuring a variety of new designs for sharks and divers alike, you'll want to be sure to keep an eye out for creations from Impact Labs such as Stitches the Bull Shark, and their heavily modified Harpoon! The Shark Fight Event Treasure will also be available for purchase on the Depth Item Store for the duration of Shark Fight. Event treasures and items gained from Shark Fight will be tradeable and marketable at the conclusion of the event.
Shark Fight - Commemorative Coin
To commemorate Shark Fight we've released another leveling event commemorative coin! Similar to previous events you level your coin by earning score in completed matchmade games of Depth, but only before Shark Fight ends!
Item Crafting - A new way to recycle!
Impact Labs has setup an interesting way to recycle the old into the new! Their lab is available for use in crafting new items now in the Store's Crafting area in the main menu, and will even be sticking around after Shark Fight ends. So if at any time you find yourself with items that you don't need anymore, give crafting a whirl and who knows what will come out!
Introducing the Social Bar
With Shark Fight we've change how lobbies and the friends panel are presented while still delivering the same functionality as before by condensing them into a new area called the Social Bar. This has opened valuable space along the right side of the main menu which we will continue to tweak in the future.

It's diver against diver mayhem in an all new event gamemode, Haywire! In this special event gamemode S.T.E.V.E. has gone haywire opening safes, while two teams of divers fight for control of S.T.E.V.E. aiming to make it out with him and the riches! Not only is it diver vs diver, but occasionally you will be offered to play as a shark to aid your team in the battle to regain control of S.T.E.V.E.! Along with the gamemode, Aquatekk Industries has developed some new looks for your favorite gear which can be unlocked by playing games of Depth during the Haywire Event! There are not just new looks for weapons, Aquatekk is proud to unveil its latest combat submarine, JET, the Jet Engine Tiger. With a frame capable of camouflaging for short durations, this new generation submarine has its design inspired by the deadly and quick moving tiger shark. The Haywire Event is available until April 18th, so be sure to dive into this electrifying event before it's gone!

Leaderboard Ranking Update
With the Haywire update we've adjusted the percentiles required to attain higher tier ranking on the leaderboard. Only one tier is not percentile based which is the World Champion tier representing the Top 10 players on a given leaderboard. Another change to the leaderboard system is the inclusion of divisions, which further breakdown the leaderboard tiers. There are five divisions, with Division 1 being the greatest and closest to the next tier. Finally you are now able to see yourself on the leaderboard at all times, and we've introduced a progress bar to show how close you are to reaching your next division.

After the ancient dragons fought back the hadal monsters and returned peace to the sea, a great festival, The Dragon Dance, was had which is still celebrated around the Lunar New Year today. The name Dragon Dance comes from and is described in the tales as an ancient technique which was performed by Frost and Flame to seal the hadal evil back from where it came. Frost and Flame are not the only dragons celebrated during the festival as many took on the form of sharks during the great battle. One of the most well known and celebrated is Jin, the Gold Dragon. Possessing great wisdom and the uncle of Frost and Flame, Jin's scales shimmer with a purity of gold second to none. Unlike his nephews, Jin took the form of a Great Hammerhead when he joined the fight bringing with him extraordinary strength to match his tactical genius. So join us in the festivities, let us celebrate the Dragon Dance!

APS Heavy Barrel Upgrade
Heavy barrel is a costly upgrade for the APS which allows for hotter ammo loads, granting much greater stopping power in exchange for a slower rate of fire. Increased stopping power brings the APS's damage output much closer to that of the ADS, allowing for greater variety in how diver's play with automatic rifles.
Depth: Terror Nights
Celebrate the season of harvest and revel in the tale of The Terror Nights! Long ago an unfathomable monster named the Terrorking rose from hadal depths. Breathing life into all around him, the Terrorking forged great magma monsters of all shapes and sizes. Seafarers in particular grew to fear one group of these beasts forged like hammerhead sharks, which they named the Hellfire. When the Hellfire attacked the seas would steam and boil as the massive molten creatures rammed their vessels to pieces. Lauren Keen was one merchant who survived a Hellfire attack. Enraged at the loss of her ship and crew, Lauren set out to protect others and end the tyranny of the Terrorking. It was the 12th Night of Terror when Lauren found him, and it was the 12th Night he was tricked. In a battle of wits, Lauren sent the Terrorking back to where he came, sealing him at the bottom of the sea. With peace restored, a plentiful harvest ushered in the celebration of the end of The Terror Nights. Though likely just a folktale, the Terror Nights are celebrated to this day in rememberance of harvest, trickery, and terror.

Depth: Zapped - 100+ Free Skins
Zippy was recently discovered by marine biologists on a research mission when their ship's instruments began suffering from electrical interference. This was the first observation of Zippy's mysterious electrical powers. Zippy is often seen striking his prey with a large electrical discharge from his tail. Scientists are currently unsure if Zippy is a newly discovered electric fish or genetic mutation.

Tails from the East
Long ago there lived two brothers, Frost the Ice Dragon, and Flame the Fire Dragon. Flame possessed a hot temper, a fiery heart, and eyes like burning rubies. Frost held a cool disposition, a curious spirit, and brilliant eyes the shade of sapphires. One day Frost saw chaos ensuing below the seas they controlled and took the form of a Great White shark to investigate below. Tough blue scales covered him from nose to fin, and ice-cold horns protruded from his face and all the way down his back. Flame with his competitive spirit followed suit, shape-shifting into a crimson red Great White. From hadal depths came terrible sea-monsters, which attacked all that lived above their dominion. Angered by this the two brothers worked tirelessly and fought back the monsters, driving them back into the depths. Pleased with the harmony they had returned to the sea, both Frost and Flame kept their Great White form and it is said to this day they rule from below bringing peace across all seas.
Item Drops - 65 New Skins!
Start collecting 65 all-new shark and weapon skins by playing PvP matchmaking on official Depth servers. Item drops are time based and can occur at the end of a match for players who have been playing matches without leaving. All of these new skins are also eligible for use in Steam Trading and the Steam Marketplace.
New Map: Breach
After having located hidden pirate treasure and later losing it during a training mission, Stubbs has returned to the wreckage to retrieve his lost treasure. Fight sharks and hunt for Stubbs' treasure while surrounded by beautiful coral and a sunken bomber. There's plenty of gold in the area so get out there and find it!
Breaching - Attack from above!
Have you ever wanted to soar out of the water and take to the skies? Or maybe there have been pesky divers sitting at the ocean surface and you've wanted an alternate angle of attack... perhaps from above. Well you're in luck, the sharks of Depth definitely haven't skipped tail day and are now fully capable of breaching (and beaching themselves) by lunging and darting out of the water.
Lighting Upgraded -It's a bright new future!
Lighting for maps has been updated with sharper shadows, realistic directional lighting, and the caustics now feature chromatic aberration for increased realism. Along with these map lighting changes players will now always cast dynamic shadows, and shadows cast on the player are more accurately reflected.
New Languages: Chinese, Japanese, and Korean
Depth is now available in Chinese, Japanese, and Korean! Make sure Steam's language has been set for use in-game.
New East Asia Matchmaking Region
To coincide with the additional language support for Chinese, Japanese, and Korean, a new matchmaking region for East Asia has been added with servers hosted in Tokyo.
