Depth: Sharks with Frickin' Laser Beams

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=656932393

In our quest for realism and accuracy, we often turn to the experts among our community for small tweaks that could improve the immersion in Depth. We have noted community disappointment at the lack of "frickin laser beams", and now intend to fix this grievous oversight.

Frickin Laser Beams

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=656933938

From watching historic media channels, we have discovered that sharks may have once been ranged predators, both killing and cooking their prey at a distance.

Changelog:

This includes the major changes since the last update (minor bugfixes and changes are not included)

Mechanics

  • Replaced Dart with Laser attack for all sharks
  • Sea Mines now smarter and chase after sharks
  • P.A.T.: Can now correctly target a shark in Line of Sight (LOS), if another closer shark is out of LOS.

Balance

  • Bull Shark no longer gains rage in Hide and Seek.
  • Updated spawn protection for both Sharks and Divers.
  • P.A.T.: Base detection range reduced to 1000 from 2500.
  • P.A.T.: Now has unlimited targeting range on tagged Sharks.

Maps

  • Fixed godspots on: Station, Temple, Fractured (B&G, HS), Olmec, Devil's Head, Antiguo, Hillside, Wreck (Thanks Sinopia!)
  • Antiguo: Fixed some clipping issues. Fixed some badly placed rubble in the ravine (only visual). Smoothed two walls with blocking volumes, one at safe 2, one at Safe 3.
  • Devil's Head: Smoothed edges in many locations where horizontal tunnels transition to vertical shafts.
  • Fractured: Removed hole in ship near Safe 2, which only allowed Divers to pass through.
  • Galleon: Filled in holes in the ship near Safe's 2 and 4, which was allowing divers to shoot through some corners. Fixed a couple spots where you could slide in between some breakable grates on ceiling of safe 3.
  • Olmec: Adjusted collision for shelves near Safe 4 to be more accurate relative to visible mesh. Updated the window breakable to have a collision that fits to the bounds of the window.
  • Stash: Repositioned overturned door a bit to remove a Godspot from underneath. Fixed Safe 3 doorway due to the terrain misaligned with the bottom of the frame.
  • Station: Moved Ammo/Medkit spot upwards at Safe 3 so it no longer spawns under the landscape.

Content

  • Fixed issue with caustics which was making maps appear darker than intended

Sound

  • Corrected Shelly pain noises which had been set incorrectly.

Other

  • Treasure pieces now begin falling if they are on a breakable which is destroyed
  • Minor adjustment to readying times for consumables to hopefully fix issues with them visually remaining in-hand after placing.

Old Bones Update

Old Bones brings a brand new map to Blood & Gold - Temple, a new evolution for sharks, changes to diver health and treasure, a new consumable for divers, and more.

Check out the update website: http://www.depthgame.com/old-bones/

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=531680429

New Map: Temple

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=531676607
Built to worship the Aztec goddess of oceans, Chalchiuhtlicue, this now time-worn temple crumbled into the sea during the late-1800's. The temple hadn't been fully explored before it disappeared, with recent expeditions heading under to both preserve and excavate the site.

Serrated Teeth - Shred Puny Divers

Tearing flesh to shreds, this abso-bloody-lutely vicious evolution leaves bitten divers to slowly bleed until they reach a Medkit... or death.

StubbsCare - Free Medkits and Diver Health Bars

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=531677839
There's good news and bad news. The bad news is, while you were napping a bunch of other salvage groups have found out about our target locales. The good news is, so far their expeditions have failed, and they've even left a few extra supplies on the bottom of the sea. Stubbs says there's a good number of Medkits down there now, in between the corpses.

You've also been given an upgraded HUD for sensing when your vital signs drop - you'd best watch that closely it and make use of those Medkits when necessary!

The Supply Kit - The Whole Kit And Caboodle

Captain Stubbs has been losing a lot of good divers recently, not that he cares. But it's been cutting into the volumes of treasure he's been able to recover - and that does concern him. He's paid off a Russian mercenary to smuggle in a bunch of ex-military Supply Kits, and is making them available to you. For a fee of course, they weren't free...

Old Bones Hammerhead Skin

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=531677528
Despite the ravages of war on its ancient frame, this death defying beast has terrified locals into believing it was chosen by Aztec gods hundreds of years ago to protect the sea no matter the cost.

Fight With The Ferocity Of Tigermaul Weapon Skins

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=531678347
Dressed to the teeth and inspired by the fearsome Tiger Shark. The Tigermaul weapon skins feature a two-toned body topped with dark stripes and blood-red slashes.

New Randomized Treasure System

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=531678088
Do you know all the Depth maps like the back of your hand? Know exactly which pieces of treasure to swim to and in what order? The challenge has just been increased - with treasure now spawning randomly in maps. This makes the Sensor a particularly tempting option early-on for divers.

Expanded In-Game Shop For All Skins

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=531679650
Depth's in-game store has been expanded with a new area for browsing and managing diver skins and weapon skins, as well as shark skins. Preview and apply skins that you have access to, see how unlockable skins are gained, and purchase paid skins all from within the game.

All new and future skins will be available only through the in-game store, and all old skins are now available through the in-game store.

Shelly: Lead scientist for the Specimen Program at the Aquatics Research Lab, Shelly specializes in cybernetic organisms and was responsible for the creation of Specimen 8. After Specimen 8's escape to open water, Shelly was tasked with recovery of the beast due to her intimate knowledge of its systems and capabilities.

Finn: An astute surgeon and well read marine biologist, Finn oversees all medical operations and upgrades within the Specimen Program. With considerable experience handling the beasts, Finn was the first choice to join Shelly in the recovery of Specimen 8 after its escape from the Aquatics Research Lab.

New Map: Station

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=510274710
An old disused pumping station, used to refine and filter natural crude oil lies forgotten. Rumored to be the home of Specimen 8, Shelly and Finn have done their best to guide Captain Stubbs and the rest of the crew to this location for a chance at recovery.

SPECIMEN 8 GREAT WHITE

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=510274631
For years the military has been searching for a way to gain an edge in aquatic warfare. It started with training dolphins... but that wasn't enough. Deep in an ocean laboratory at an undisclosed location, they have taken it to the next level. Unfortunately their creation managed to chew through a titanium fence, slaughter its handlers, and escape to open water. This is going to be one heck of a cover-up...

THORNTAIL THRESHER

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=510274472
If there is a lucky shark somewhere in the ocean, this isn't it. He has been poked, punctured, and lacerated by almost every type of flotsam you could hope to find at sea. The collection of splinters lodged in his tail have earned him a deadly reputation among divers who have been shredded by his prickly appendage.

Hide and Seek Update!

Click here to go to the update website!

New Game Mode: Hide & Seek

With this update we're adding a new game mode, Hide and Seek. One player starts as a shark, and must hunt down the divers. When a diver is killed they join the shark side, and killing all divers secures a win for the sharks. But beware - diver players can defend themselves with their Bang Stick!

Hide and Seek is launching with five maps - including versions of Fractured and Galleon, as well as new maps Wreck and Station. We've also included a new community made Hide and Seek map from Gameo, called Mausoleum. You'll find Hide and Seek under the Private Match section of the Play menus.

New Map: Stash

Just off the coast of Cuba lies an abandoned and forgotten submarine base. With its roots tied to the cold war era and hints pointing to a nuclear involvement this relic is said to hold stashes of cached weapons that could bring a pretty price to the right buyers.

New S.T.E.V.E. Weapon Skin Pack

http://store.steampowered.com/app/384240/

Alongside this update we're releasing the new S.T.E.V.E. Weapon Skin Pack, on sale for 20% off until July 12th, 2015! Fight with the style of the divers' robotic overlord S.T.E.V.E! The S.T.E.V.E. Weapon Skin pack adds new finishes for the SPP-1 Pistol, ADS Rifle, Sea Mine, and LJ-10 Volleyjet.

Whiplash Update!

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=458153725
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zOuf19QLSDU
Whiplash is Depth's latest free update adding the all new Thresher shark, a community map 'Quarry' by Gameo, aim-down-sights, custom crosshairs, new weapon modifiers, and more!

Introducing The Thresher - The Sting Of A Whip

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=458158376
The Thresher doesn't look notably dangerous with its unassuming jaws, however its true weapon is a long, blade-like tail capable of lacerating and disorienting multiple prey at once.

Introducing Quarry - A New Community Made Map

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=458157965
This long deserted limestone quarry has become an underwater battleground strewn with naval sea mines and full off colossal crystals.

This map was made in DepthED by Gameo, a member of the Depth community.

Reef Stalker - Tiger Skin

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=458154718
The only proof of this beast's existence is the trail of dismembered bodies it leaves in its wake. The few who claim to have seen it speak of a monstrous tiger shark that strikes without warning and then disappears into the darkness. Locals have named it the "Reef Stalker" after its favored hunting grounds.

Sawtooth - Mako Skin

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=458155116
The only thing uglier than this Mako's face, is its temperament. Born with a genetic abnormality that caused its teeth to form into jagged 'saws', it is more than capable of tearing prey limb from limb, and has been responsible for a rash of attacks on wreck divers in recent months.

Rebuilt Main Menu And Spawn/HUD Improvements

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=458159797
We've re-built the main menu for Depth, updating it with our fresh new UI style which we debuted with the Ship Wrecked update for in-game menus. This new style improves performance with reduced memory usage, while providing crisp clear visuals on 4k (and above) resolutions!

Lock On To Sharks With Aim Down Sights

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=458159465
As a diver you can now use Aim Down Sights functionality with (by default) the Right Mouse Button. We've even added an optional spherical aiming system to Aim Down Sights, so you can shoot 'over vertical', for tracking pesky sharks swimming directly above or below you.

Crosshairs Just The Way You Want Them

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=458157518
Unhappy with the default Depth crosshair? Then make your own with our new custom crosshair system. There's options for the size, style, and color of various parts of the crosshair - and we've included a bunch of templates from the community for you to try out.

Play Your Way With Expanded Weapon Modifiers

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=458163816
We've added a whole host of new weapon modifiers for divers to customize their loadout.
