Custom Lobby Revamp in the latest Beta Patch!
Hey everyone! Been a while since our last patch but that's because we were adding one of our most frequently requested features: our overhaul of the private match lobby! We've also been preparing for a very exciting announcement later in the week so stay tuned for that... In the meantime, fire up the new patch and let us know your thoughts!
NEW: Added completely revamped Private Match lobby. This allows players to change their roles/teams in the lobby before the match starts. Up to 3 players can now spectate private matches.
NEW: Added new Super Throw, "The Spiral". As its name suggests, this throw hurtles toward the end zone while making a circular motion.
NEW: Added flags for Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Romania, and Poland.
IMPROVED: First polish pass on Makenna's model, more to follow.
TWEAKED: Normalized everyone's lob to behave more like Gator's middle ground lob
FIX: Fix for rare networking crash bug.
FIX: Fix for a rare crash when respawning.
FIX: Fixed an issue where Steam would appear to fully utilize an entire CPU core during a match.
FIX: Fix for matchmaking popup staying on screen when spamming the button through the matchmaking flow.
FIX: Movement assist should no longer snap directions instantaneously after a deflection.
Beta Patch Dropped
Hey all,
Not a huge patch today but we've fixed some key issues as well as added some more ragdoll fun! Players will now collide properly with all court geo as well as get smacked around by the bumpers! See the rest of the patch notes below:
IMPROVED: Ragdoll collision in the map is improved. Wall plates now bounce ragdolls off of them.
IMPROVED: The "LEAVE PARTY" button in the post-game menu now prompts you if you're sure you want to leave the party. Hopefully, this will prevent players from accidentally leaving the party after a game.
IMPROVED: Prize Machine and Options buttons are now available to party clients.
FIXED: Borderless now works correctly when using the low-end renderer.
FIXED: Fixed bug where signing in a second controller could cause "Connecting to online services..." to spin indefinitely
FIXED: Fixed bug where bringing up the in-game menu while completing a stage in the tutorial could cause the menu to stay open permanently.
FIXED: Characters that stumble from being near a disc explosion should no longer get stuck when interpenetrating a wall plate.
FIXED: First-time players will no longer get prompted about the tutorial if they've already visited the advanced tutorial.
FIXED: Brazil's flag emblem is now displayed correctly.
2vTuesday Returns!
Hey all!
Since we've added a lot of new players in the past week, we are going to try activating both 1v1 and 2v2 queues! Please be advised that matchmaking will likely take longer than usual. We've also got some updates and fixes to share so check the patch notes below:
<*>NEW: Added a new indicator for skill curves. Displayed at the players' feet, this indicator will display your release angle and curvature after a throw. Really useful for the Advanced Tutorial and new players. Veterans and purists can disable it in the Options menu if desired.
<*>NEW: Added emblem for Denmark's flag.
<*>IMPROVED: The advanced tutorial now displays a "phantom" skill curve indicator to demonstrate the correct release angle and curvature for the Skill Curve and Wall Skip sections.
<*>TWEAKED: The throw timer shown at the players' feet now stays visible longer.
<*>TWEAKED: Minimum slide distances have been raised slightly.
<*>TWEAKED: Super lob now goes to the baseline rather than into the end zone.
<*>FIXED: Borderless windows should now be centered on the monitor and will no longer be offset due to the taskbar position.
<*>FIXED: Advanced Tutorial can now be completed on keyboards again.
<*>FIXED: Fixed bug that could cause the disc to explode prematurely in the end zone while trying to catch the super lob.
Some Big Changes and Improvements!
Hey everyone!
Pretty exciting build update this week with some significant changes to the charge and deflection mechanics. This is a more experimental build than usual so we hope you'll reserve judgement until you've had some time to digest these changes and, as always, give us your feedback on our discord or subreddit!
Patch Notes:
NEW: We now support a wider (no pun intended) range of aspect ratios! Both 4:3 and 21:9 are supported! (EXPERIMENTAL)
NEW: Added in-game matchmaking region selection. We try to default to a reasonable region, but make sure to select the region nearest you when searching for games!
NEW: Added maximum ping filter when matchmaking. Selecting lower values should mean better connections, but may also result in longer matchmaking times!
NEW: In the Options menu, streamers can now select a delay for the chat bot. This is useful in preventing the bot from spoiling the outcome of matches.
NEW: Partially charged supers now grant the player extra time for a perfect throw.
IMPROVED: The charge meter material has been changed to clamp instead of blend between throw speed colors (pink/blue/white).
IMPROVED: If a host leaves a match mid-game, you will not matchmake back into them for a short while.
IMPROVED: Discs will no longer allow you to catch them after reaching the ground/endzone in high latency matches. The disc may still freeze while you catch up to the server, but this prevents false catches/throws.
IMPROVED: Fixed up physics collision in the map so that ragdolls respond better when colliding with the environment.
IMPROVED: Bumped up knockback force from the disc explosion when you're sliding/bonked.
TWEAKED: If your shield isn't fully powered, you can no longer charge supers off of deflections (landing point marker has been removed).
TWEAKED: Deflection distance has been pulled in a bit closer to the player.
TWEAKED: Slight buff to Stanton's weakest throw speed (white throw)
TWEAKED: Replaced "Bring it!" quick chat with "So greedy."
TWEAKED: Slight nerf to Makenna's fast (blue) throw speed
TWEAKED: Tiniest of nerfs to Makenna's lob
TWEAKED: Small buff to Gator's fast (blue) throw speed
TWEAKED: Small buff to Gator's slide speed
TWEAKED: Buffed Gator's lob
TWEAKED: Punched up disc emissive on standard disc
TWEAKED: Getting bonked now correctly takes into account the direction of the disc's velocity
TWEAKED: Fixed bug that could prevent players from catching the disc while charging up at a landing point.
TWEAKED: When a remote player disconnects from the host, the opposing team is now correctly given the win.
TWEAKED: Disc shadow no longer flickers
TWEAKED: In 2v2, your player will no longer be movement-assisted toward the disc's landing point if your partner is already charging up on it.
TWEAKED: Beam integration now completely tears down and reconnects between matches. Hopefully, this will resolve any issues with the integration failing to start.
TWEAKED: Fixed bug preventing footprints from appearing on the court.
TWEAKED: Party members now display the correct Tag.
TWEAKED: Players no longer continue running in place if the host disconnects.
TWEAKED: Players no longer continue shielding if the host disconnects.
TWEAKED: Stream integration should no longer turn on during training.
TWEAKED: Party clients now correctly travel back to the main menu with the party host after leaving a match.
TWEAKED: Party clients should now receive more regularly updates regarding the status of the party.
It's Two-Vee-Tuesday!
Today we're holding our first public test of parties and 2v2 matchmaking! We've widened the court in Doubles and made some significant changes to passing. Here are the details on everything in the patch:
NEW: Doubles court has been widened by 12.5%. This change ensures that two players are actually required to fully cover the court.
NEW: Timing now matters when passing in 2v2 and limits the speed of the subsequent throw. Throwing a blue-trailed pass, for example, means that even with perfect timing your partner can only release a blue-trailed throw. Perfect passes can maintain your Juiced streak but will not add to it.
IMPROVED: Disc<->Environment collision code has been reworked. It's hand-rolled and no longer relies on the physics engine so it should be more accurate and result in better performance.
FIX: Beam streamers will no longer receive a "TWITCH BONUS". This has been renamed to "STREAM BONUS".
Beam Integration is now live!
With so much love for the new Twitch integration, we had to roll out stream interaction for our awesome Beam fam! Also made a few fixes and tweaks so see below for more details:
NEW: Beam integration! If you're a Beam streamer/viewer head to the Options menu and select it as your streaming service of choice.
NEW: Added some more flags.
UPDATED: Updated engine to version 4.14.3
TWEAKED: Stream viewers can no longer switch their vote during the first set. Once you vote, you're committed!
TWEAKED: Lowered the volume of the vote sound a bit.
TWEAKED: Reverted change to Stanton's slide from last patch.
FIXED: Fixed some issues when trying to set the resolution in the options menu.
FIXED: While sliding or bonked, the player will no longer pop up to standing when the disc explodes nearby. Now the player ragdolls from their current pose (hilarity ensues).
FIXED: Stream chat bot now correctly says "No one voted for the winning team." rather than "No one voted."
